Edge - twisted

Cast on and work some rows in stockinette. We are twisting after every 4th st, but you can twist with shorter or longer spaces. We are twisting by twisting the left needle away from us, you can twist away from you or towards you, just be consistent. On socks or sleeve edges for example you might want to make one of each to be mirrored. This technique creates a scalloped twisted edge. It is just as stretchy as a regular stockinette edge.

Double Knitting: edge stitches

In this Drops Video we show how to work your edge sts in two different ways on your double knitted project. First how to work them on every row for a tight edge. Then we show how to slip the edge sts, for a looser decorative edge. Both methods will connect the sides so piece is closed each side. How to knit English Rib

In this DROPS video we show how to knit English rib. Large fluffy rib, identical on both sides. Great for scarves, blankets etc. Back and forth on needles, using an uneven number of sts. 1st row: 1 edge st in garter, *K1, yo, slip 1 st as if purled*, rep *-*, end with K1, 1 edge st in garter. 2nd row: 1 edge st in garter, *yo, slip 1 st as if purled, K next st and yo tog*, rep *-*, end with yo, slip 1 st as if purled, 1 edge st in garter. 3rd row: 1 edge st in garter, *K next st and yo tog, yo, slip 1 st as if purled *, rep *-*, end with K next st and yo tog, 1 edge st in garter. How to work fisherman's rib back and forth on the needle

In this DROPS video we show you how to work fisherman's rib. This technique gives a result that is very similar to English rib, but instead of making yarn overs you work in the stitch directly below on the previous row. You work like this: Row 1 (Wrong side): knit all stitches. Row 2 (Right side): Knit 1, *Purl 1, knit 1 in the stitch directly below next stitch* repeat from *-* until the end of the row. How to work Fisherman's rib back and forth, using only knit stitches

Everyone that can knit a stitch can also make this version of Fishermans rib. Knit back and forth on needles. Cast on an even number of sts (i.e 10, 12, 14 and so on) Knit 1 row. Continue every row like this: * K1, K1 in the stitch below next st (= k1b) *, repeat *-* across the row, turn.

How to work English rib in the round with 2 color

In this DROPS video we show how we work English rib in the round with 2 color. We have already cast on, worked round 1 with green like this: * 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch as if to purl, knit 2 together *, work from *-* to end of round. The 2 rounds we shown in the video are round 2 and 3. ROUND 2 with colour Mauve: * Purl the yarn over and the slipped stitch together, 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch as if to purl *, work from *-*. ROUND 3 with color green: * 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch as if to purl, knit yarn over and slipped stitch together *, work from *-* (be careful; the last yarn over does not look like a yarn over, but the strand of color 2 is at the front of the piece; lay the strand over to make a yarn over). How to work 2-colored English rib with second color in the edge and color change

In this DROPS video we show how to work 2-color English rib in stripes where it works with the second color on the edge stitches/band stitches and how to twist the strands together when changing colors. The edge stitches/band stitches works in garter stitches. ROW 1 (from RS): Work 5 edge stitches in garter stitch with the second color, switch to the main color, but twist the strands together to avoid holes and work English rib to the edge stitches on the other side. Lift the edge stitches over to the right needle, push the stitches back on the circular needle so the next row is also worked from the right side. ROW 2 (from RS): Lift the edge stitches over to the right needle, work English rib with the second color and work 5 edge stitches in garter stitch, turn. ROW 3 (from WS): Work 5 edge stitches in garter stitch with the second color, change to the main color, remember to twist the strands to avoid holes and work English rib to the edge stitches on the other side, lift the edge stitches over to the right needle. Push the stitches back on the circular needle so the next row is also worked from the wrong side. ROW 4 (from WS): Lift the edge stitches over to the right needle, work English rib with the second color and work 5 edge stitches in garter stitch, turn. Repeat row 1- 4. Also called half fisherman, i.e not as bulky as fisherman rib. 1 edge st each side knits on every row. 1st row (WS): knit all sts. 2nd row (RS): *p1, knit 1 in the stitch below (aka p1, 1B)*, repeat *-* across row (if uneven number of sts end p1). Repeat row 1 and 2.

In this DROPS video we show you how to knit false fisherman's rib rib with 2 stitches in between from in DROPS Extra 0-970. We already have knitted some rows and starts by showing row 2. (1st st is knitted in garter st (K in each row)). Row 2: * P 1, K 2 *, repeat from *-* 6 times in total, P 1. How to work English rib variation with 3 garter stitches between

This is how you can make a rib pattern looking like English rib but not getting as bulky and yarn consuming. Double stitch

In this video we show how to work 2 sts tog laying on top of each other to create a texture. We have already worked 2 inch/5 cm to easier show the pattern. From RS: * K 4, K1 in st below the K st on needle. (i.e. sts from the two previous rows are worked as one) *, repeat *-* two more times and end with K4. How to work a rib edge with increase and English rib

In this DROPS video we show how to work a rib edge where we finish the rib with increase and English rib. We have already worked 3 cm = 1 1/8" rib (knit 1 twisted / purl 2) and start the video showing how to work in the stitch below the twisted knit stitch (i.e. stitch from previous round) like this: knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit (2 stitches increased), then purl 2 stitch together. Work like that the entire round. Continue to work English rib with yarn overs in the round to the correct length. Then loosely cast off stitches with knit over knit and purl over purl.
