How to knit seed (moss) stitch in the round

In this DROPS video we show how to knit seed (or moss) stitch in the round. When you are knitting seed st in the round on a circular needle or double pointed needles it's a great idea to work with an uneven number of sts. You will then get a good transition between K and P sts all the way around, and the beginning of the round will be invisible, You work alternating K1 and P1 around and around. On next round you will then automatically work K over P and P over K, which is what seed st is all about. You must read the pattern to be able to follow. How to knit double seed/moss stitch

In this DROPS video we show how to knit double seed/moss stitch. When you knit double seed st you have 2 K sts next to each other, and 2 K sts above each other. Also 2 P sts beside each other and 2 P sts above each other. Work 1st row like this: repeat P2, K2 until end of row. Second row: K over K and P over P. 3rd row: P over K and K over P. 4th row: As second row. Repeat row 1-4. You must read the pattern to be able to follow. How to knit seed stitch double in height

There are many variations of seed stitch and double seed stitch (aka moss stitch). In this DROPS video we show a version which is worked with alternating K1 and P1 in width. But K2 and P2 over each other in height. We knit 1 edge st each side in garter st (K on all rows). For the pattern to be visible, we have knitted about 2"/5 cm before we continue as follows: SEED ST - DOUBLE IN HEIGHT: (remember K1 edge st each side) Row 1: * K1, P1 *, repeat from * - *. 2nd row: K over K and P over P. Row 3: * P1, K1 *, repeat from * - *. 4th row: P over P and K over K Repeat these 4 rows. You must read the pattern to be able to follow. How to knit double seed (moss) stitch in the round

In this DROPS video we show how to knit double seed (or moss) stitch in the round. When you knit double seed st/moss st in the round on a circular needle you need to cast on a number of sts that can be divided by 4. Then you will get a nice transition between K and P sts all the way around, and you will not be able to see the beginning of the round. You work alternately K 2 and P 2 all way around. Round 1: work K2, P2 around Round 2: work K2, P2 around Round 3: work P2, K2 around Round 4: work P2, K2 around Repeat round 1.-4. It's a good idea to place a marker at the beginning of the round. In our video we show the end of 2nd round, the transition to 3rd round, and then the beginning of 3rd round. You must read the pattern to be able to follow. How to work a rib (knit 1, purl 1) around with circular needles

In this DROPS video we show how to work a rib with knit 1, purl 1 on circular needle. Working a rib gives an elastic piece that is great for cuffs and edges. Cast on a number of stitches that is divisible by 2, then put the circular needle “together” and start with knit 1 (the first stitch that was cast on), purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, etc. the entire round (you can also start with purl 1, knit 1, etc.). When the 2nd round starts knit 1, purl 1, knit 1, purl etc. It’s important that all knitted stitches comes above knitted stitches, and all purled stitches come above the purled stitches. How to work a rib with knit twisted and purl stitches – back and forth

In this DROPS video we show a rib worked back and forth with 1 knit twisted stitch and 2 purl stitches. By knitting stitches twisted these stitches will "pop out" a bit and you will get a more distinctive rib, also gives a firmer and more stable rib. In this DROPS video we show how you can work a rib. Working a rib gives an elastic piece that is great for cuffs and edges. Often worked with Knit 1 / Purl 1 or Knit 2 / Purl 2. It’s important that all knitted stitches comes above knitted stitches, and all purled stitches come above the purled stitches. First, we show a rib with Knit 2 / Purl 2, then a rib with Knit 2 twisted / Purl 2. To get the twisted stitch, knit the stitch in the back loop. How to knit a shifted rib (1)

A shifted rib can shape a rib pattern or a whole garment. There are many ways to knit a shifted rib. In this DROPS video we knit in rib * K 2, P 2 *, repeat from *-* around. When the displacing of the rib begins, work 1 round where the rib is displaced 1 stitch to the left as follows: Over K 2, P 2 there will be P 1, K 2, P 1. *Work 3 rounds with K over K and P over P, displace the rib 1 st to the left on next round (= 4 rounds) *, repeat from *-*. How to knit a shifted rib (2)

A shifted rib can shape a rib pattern or a whole garment. There are many ways to knit a shifted rib. In this DROPS video we have decreased on each side of 6 sts in rib, so that the piece is shaped in a little bow at the back of the back piece and the number of stitches are decreased. Once we start to knit no more sts should be dec, so therefore we will inc in each side on the same row as we are making the dec. Since we are inc just as many sts as we are dec, the number of sts will stay the same. Following the pattern we inc after 1st marker, dec before 2nd marker, dec after 3rd marker and inc before 4th marker - and this is done on each row worked from the right side. The sts that are inc with a yo shall be worked twisted on next row (i.e work in back loop) and also be worked into the rib pattern between markers. You must read the pattern to be able to follow. How to work an easy and nice texture pattern.

In this DROPS video we show how to work an easy and nice texture pattern, such as the rib to the Rose Blush vest in DROPS 212-44. Work like this: From RS: Work 3 edge stitches in garter stitch, * 2 stitches in stocking stitch , 2 stitches in garter stitch *, work from *-* until there are 5 stitches left, 2 stitches in stocking stitch and finish with 3 edge stitches in garter stitch. From WS: Work 3 edge stitches in garter stitch, * 2 stitches in stocking stitch , 2 stitches in garter stitch *, work from *-* until there are 5 stitches left, 2 stitches in stocking stitch and finish with 3 edge stitches in garter stitch. Continue like this to desired length. Ridge/garter stitch: Knit all rows. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. How to knit smock pattern over 1 knit, 2 purls, 1 knit

In this DROPS video we show you how to create a smock pattern by winding the yarn 2 times around 4 stitches (1 knit, 2 purls, 1 knit). We work 2 edge stitches in each side and we have already knitted a few cm of pattern (1 knit, 2 purls, 1 knit). We start the video on the row where we are going to wind the yarn around the 4 stitches to create a smock pattern. Put the 4 stitches (1 knit, 2 purls, 1 knit) on a cable needle back of the work, wind the working yarn twice around this 4 stitches, then knit this stitches (1 knit, 2 purls, 1 knit). Choose by yourself how many rows there should be between each winding, and to create a texture; wind the yarn around the 4 next stitches before and 4 stitches after the last winding. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video.

How to knit a smock pattern by winding the yarn twice around sts

In this DROPS video we show a technique where we wind the working yarn around 6 stitches to create a nice texture while just working in rib (K2, P2). We cast on 22 sts, wind 6 sts tog on every 6th row. To create the texture we alternate the 6 sts wound tog for each repeat. The video starts on row 16 from WS before the first wind (P2, K2 across ending with P2). Row 17 (RS): * place 6 sts on a cable needle, wind the yarn twice around these 6 sts - tighten, work the 6 sts from cable needle as before (rib), P2 *. Repeat *-* 2 more times, but end last repeat with last K2 from cable needle. Continue in rib. Row 23 (RS): K2, P2, * place 6 sts on a cable needle, wind the yarn twice around these 6 sts - tighten, work the 6 sts from cable needle as before (rib), P2*. Repeat *-* and end with K2. Repeat the rows with winding on every 6th row until desired measure.

How to knit A.1 - beginning to a jumper

In this DROPS video we show how to knit after chart A.1 / beginning of DROPS 179-1, but also used in other patterns. We have already knitted the first 10 rounds. How to sew a smock pattern

In this DROPS video we show how to knit dropped stitches. How to knit dropped stitches aka elongated sts in different lengths

Patterns with dropped stitches/elongated stitches with different lengths are very popular. In this DROPS video we show how to knit a dropped stitch with 1 yo and then with 2 yo's to get different lengths on the dropped sts. We have already knitted 1 repeat of each to clearly show the difference: row 1 is worked alternately K1, 1 YO across. row 2; K1, slip yo off needle, repeat across. row 3: worked alternately K1, 2 YO's across. row 4: K1, slip both yo's off needle, repeat across. How to knit single loop knitting

In this DROPS video we show how you can knit single loop knitting. Use this fun technique to make a loop scarf, loop cuffs, loop collar or why not a loopy bag? Single loops knitted back and forth on needles: The loops are made on the WS rows of the piece and ends up on the RS. 1st row (RS): Knit all sts 2nd row (WS): K1, * make a loop as follows: Twist the yarn over and around the left index finger as shown in video. Knit the next st by pulling both 2 threads on the left index finger through the st and leave the stitch on the left needle. K 1 st in the back of the same st (= 1 twisted st). There are now 2 loop sts + 1 twisted st on the right needle. Lift the 2 back sts over the first st = 1 loop st *, repeat from *-* and end with a K edge st. Repeat the 2 rows. How to knit a mussel pattern

In this DROPS video we show how to knit the mussel pattern for the jacket in DROPS 129-31. Cast on a number of sts that can be divided by 6+3. K1 edge st each side on every row. ROW 1 (= RS): K all sts. ROW 2 (= WS): * P 1, (P 1, 3 loose YO), repeat from (-) a total of 5 times *, repeat from *-* and finish with P 1. How to knit Indian cross stitches

In this DROPS video we show how you can knit Indian cross stitches. For this sample we cast on 32 sts (divisible by 8). We have already knit 1 rapport (1-12 row) and row 1-4 for the second time. In the video we start at row 5 for the second time. Row 1-4: K all sts. Row 5: K 1, * K next st but wrap yarn 4 times around the needle before pulling through (3 of 4 yo's will be dropped on next row). Continue like this in each st across, K last st on row. Turn *. Row 6: Slip 1st st to right needle. Slip 1 yo and drop 3 yo's in each of the next 7 sts = 8 long sts on right needle, pull and stretch sts to make them evenly long. Slip the first 4 of the 8 sts over the last 4 sts and onto the left needle, then slip the last 4 sts on right needle onto left needle (= 8 loose sts on left needle crossing each other). Make sure they are lined up in the right order. Now K these 8 sts. Continue like this crossing the next 8 sts, and the next 8 and so on across. Row 7-10: K all sts Row 11: As row 5. Row 12: Slip 1st st to right needle. Slip 1 yo and drop 3 yo's in each of the next 3 sts = 4 long sts on right needle, pull and stretch sts to make them evenly long. In this DROPS video we show you how we knit a two-coloured Royal Quilting pattern. Cast on a number of stitches divisible with 6+3 with colour A. We have casted on 18+3 stitches in colour A with DROPS Snow in this video. Row 1: WRONG SIDE, colour A, purl 2, * make sure the thread is now placed on the right side, slip the next 5 stitches purlwise from the left needle to the right needle, purl 1 * (there will be a loop on the right side over the 5 sliped stitches), repeat *-* until there are 1 stitch left, purl 1 Row 2: RIGHT SIDE, colour B, knit all stitches. Row 3: WRONG SIDE, colour B, purl all stitches. How to knit an exciting texture pattern

In this DROPS video we show how to knit a part of the texture pattern in DROPS 194-5, this technique is also used in other patterns. In the pattern you work in the round, but in this video we work only from the right to the left side and 3 rows of a chart, see the red outline. In 1st row work like this (black triangle that crosses 3 squares): = insert right needle through the middle of the 3 knit stitches 4 rounds below, make 1 yarn over and pull yarn back to right, yarn over must not be too tight, knit 3, insert right needle through same stitch, make 1 yarn over and pull yarn back to right side. In 2nd row work like this (a black line over 5 squares): = slip 1st stitch (= yarn over made on previous round) knitwise, knit 3, slip next stitch (= yarn over made on previous round) purlwise. In 3rd row work like this: 1st, 3rd and 5th black triangle over 2 squares = knit 2 stitches twisted together. 2nd, 4th and 6th black triangle over 2 squares = knit 2 together. This jumper is knitted in DROPS Air, but in the video we work with a thicker yarn; DROPS Snow.
