Pattern instructions

NOTE: This pattern is written in American English. All measurements in charts are in cm. For conversion from inches to cm - click here. There are different terms for crocheting in American and British English. If this pattern includes crochet, click for "crochet terms" here. For this pattern in British English, please click here.
Pattern: See diagram. The diagram shows the pattern from the RS and the entire pattern is worked in stockinette st. Beg pattern by arrow for your size and work pattern on front piece, beg by arrow again and repeat pattern on back piece.
Erm = sleeve
Bol = body piece

Rib: * K1, P1 *, repeat from *-*.

Body: The jumper is worked in the round on circular needle and cut for armholes afterwards. Cast on 162-170 sts on circular needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 with violet Vienna and work 1 round rib, change to Macao and continue until rib measures 6 cm / 2 3/8''. Now change to needle size 5.5 mm / US 9 and work 1 round stockinette st, at the same time inc 18-22 sts evenly on round = 180-192 sts. Insert a Marking Thread (MT) each side and now continue in pattern (beg by arrow for your size, see above). REMEMBER THE GAUGE! When piece measures 36-38 cm inc 4 sts each side (to be cut for armhole afterwards and not included in pattern).
When piece measures 62-64 cm bind off the middle 16-18 sts mid front and complete piece back and forth on needle. Bind off to shape the neckline on every other row: 4 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1 time and 1 st 1 time. Bind off remaining sts when piece measures approx 66-68 cm – adjust to pattern.

Sleeve: Cast on 40-42 sts on double pointed needles size 3.5 mm / US 4 with violet Vienna and work rib as described for body piece. After rib change to double pointed needles size 5.5 mm / US 9 and K 1 round, at the same time inc 5-3 sts evenly on round = 45-45 sts. Now continue in pattern. At the same time after the rib, inc 2 sts mid under arm a total of 23 times on every 3rd round = 91-91 sts. Work middle st and inc sts in Macao. When piece measures 54-53 cm work 2 cm / 3/4'' in reverse stockinette st in Macao (for sewing sleeve to body piece) and bind off.

Assembly: Insert a marking thread in the middle of the inc sts for armhole. Sew 2 seams on a sewing machine around the marking thread, 1st seam = ½ st from the MT, 2nd seam = ½ st from the 1st seam. Cut for armholes. Sew the shoulder seams. Pick up approx 80 sts round the neck on needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 with Macao and work 4 cm / 1½'' rib, bind off. Set in sleeves as follows: sew the last row in stockinette st on sleeves to row after machine seam on armhole. Turn jumper inside out and fasten piece in reverse stockinette st on sleeve to body piece.
