Mvh DROPS Design

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. HEEL DECREASE: ROW 1 (= right side): Knit until 8-8-9 stitches remain, slip next stitch as if to knit, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch knitted, turn piece. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl until 8-8-9 stitches remain, slip next stitch as if to purl, purl 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch purled, turn piece. ROW 3 (= right side): Knit until 7-7-8 stitches remain, slip next stitch as if to knit, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch knitted, turn piece. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Purl until 7-7-8 stitches remain, slip next stitch as if to purl, purl 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch purled, turn piece. Continue decrease like this with 1 stitch less before each decrease until there are 13-15-17 stitches on needle. DECREASE TIP (applies to toe): Begin 3 stitches before marker, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased at marker and 4 stitches decreased in total on round). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- SOCKS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked in the round on double pointed needles, top down. SOCK: Cast on 66-68-72 stitches on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm = US 1,5 with Nord. Rounds begin mid back. Knit 1 round. Work next round as follows: * Purl 1, knit 1 *, work from *-* over the first 14-14-16 stitches, work A.1 (= 39 stitches), * knit 1, purl 1 *, work from *-* over the next 12-14-16 stitches, and finish with knit 1. Continue rib like this until A.1 has been worked. There are now 65-67-71 stitches on round, piece measures approx. 3 cm = 1⅛". Work next round as follows: Work rib as before over the first 14-14-16 stitches, work A.2 (= 38 stitches), work rib as before over the remaining 13-15-17 stitches. Continue pattern like this. When piece measures 18 cm = 7" in all sizes, work heel as explained below. Keep the first 14-14-16 stitches and the last 13-15-17 stitches on needle for heel = 27-29-33 heel stitches. Slip the remaining 38 stitches mid on top of foot on 1 stitch holder or leave them on the needle. Work rib as before back and forth over heel stitches, and cast in addition on 1 new stitch in each side on first row (= edge stitches) = 29-31-35 heel stitches. Work until heel measures 5-5½-6 cm = 2"-2⅛"-2⅜" and decrease at 1 edge stitch in each side on last row = 27-29-33 heel stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of last row, marker should be used later to measure the length of foot. Work in HEEL DECREASE - read explanation above. After heel decrease work next round as follows: Work in stockinette stitch over the 13-15-17 heel stitches, pick up 13-14-16 stitches along the side of heel inside 1 edge stitch, insert 1 marker, work A.2 as before over the 38 stitches on top of foot, insert 1 marker and pick up 13-14-16 stitches along the other side on heel inside 1 edge stitch = 77-81-87 stitches. Continue pattern like this with A.2 on top of foot and stockinette stitch over the remaining stitches under foot. AT THE SAME TIME decrease on each side of the 38 stitches between markers on top of foot as follows: Knit the last 2 stitches before first marker on top of foot twisted together, and knit the first 2 stitches after last marker on top of foot together. Decrease like this every other round 12-12-13 times in total = 53-57-61 stitches. Then continue until piece measures approx. 17-19-21 cm = 6¾"-7½"-8¼" under foot from marker on heel (approx. 5-5-6 cm = 2"-2"-2⅜" remain until finished measurements, try the sock on and work to desired length). Knit 1 round while decreasing 1 stitch under foot = 52-56-60 stitches. Remove all the markers in piece, and insert 1 new marker in each side of sock so that there are 26-28-30 stitches both on top of foot and under foot. Work stockinette stitch in the round and decrease for toes on each side of both markers - read DECREASE TIP (= 4 stitches decreased). Decrease like this on every other round 7-6-8 times in total, and then on every round 4-6-5 times in total = 8 stitches remain on needle in all sizes. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. Sock measures approx. 22-24-27 cm = 8¾"-9½"-10⅝" under foot from marker on heel. Work the other sock the same way. |
