Buon lavoro!

Dear Drops, Please update the pattern with the corrected instructions, since you've already admitted in a previous comment that you should measure the lenght from the cast on edge, not the marker. I've tried knitting it too as it said in the pattern and it became extremely long. Measuring from the marker is definitely not correct. Thank you!

Dear Kate, except if I'm misunderstanding your question, the pattern is right, you should measure from the marker : When piece measures 6 cm, insert 1 marker thread (rolling edge) - now measure piece from here. Feel free to adjust the length if you think it's too long. Happy knitting!

11.02.2020 - 17:51DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Eneurian, The DROPS patterns are knitted and crocheted by thousands and thousands of people around the world. We understand however that in certain countries, with different knitting/crochet traditions than Scandinavia, our patterns might be written in a way that differs from what some are used to. But of course we want everyone to understand our patterns, so that’s why we have created an extensive library of tutorial videos as well as step by step lessons that explain how to follow the techniques we use and how to read the diagrams in our patterns. Give them a try!

Hei!

In response to your reply (above). If this is the case, why does it tell you to put in a marker 6cms in and take all measurements from there.
13.12.2019 - 14:55DROPS Design answered:
oh oops you are right :) then yes, measure from there sorry, but what about your tension in height? Does it match? Do you really have the 22 rows stocking stitch = 10 cm? When measuring from marker: 14-16 cm + 1 row dec + 5 rows A.1 + 16 rows dec = 22 rows = 10 cm = 24-26 cm when 9-10 sts remain. Happy knitting!

I'm finding that the hat is way too tall, `i've done it three times, each time making it shorter - but still it's too long. it's already 24 cms and i have only just started the decreasing. When I look at the picture the hat just fits her head, mine will be like an elves hat if I continue. Very frustrating.
13.12.2019 - 11:07DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Lister, you have to start the first decrease when piece measures a total of 14-16 cm from cast on edge (this means not14-16 cm + the 6 cm for the rolled edge) - make sure your tension in height is correct = you should have 22 rows stocking st = 10 cm. Happy knitting!

Don't understand why it tells you to put a marker in when you have knitted 6cm and then measure from there, why not just measure from the bottom. I did as it said, but then the hat is way too long. the contrast colour really needs to start about 5 cms before it says.

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.1. The diagram shows all rows in the pattern seen from the right side. The whole pattern is worked in stockinette stitch. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Piece is worked in the round on circular needle, switch to double pointed needles when decreasing. HAT: Cast on 84-90 stitches with fog on circular needle size 5 mm = US 8. Place piece together and purl 1 round. Then continue piece in the round in stockinette stitch. When piece measures 6 cm = 2⅜", insert 1 marker thread (rolling edge) - now measure piece from here. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! Work until piece measures 14-16 cm = 5½"-6¼" from marker, on next round decrease 3-0 stitches evenly of round= 81-90 stitches. Work diagram A.1 9-10 times in total on round. When diagram has been worked vertically, insert 9-10 marker threads in piece 9 stitches apart. Continue in stockinette stitch with grey and decrease as follows: Knit 2 together before every marker thread the entire round. Repeat decrease every other round 8-9 times in total, switch to double pointed needles when needed. After last decrease there are 9-10 stitches on needle. Switch to double pointed needles size 4 mm = US 6 and work in stockinette stitch in the round until a tip of 3 cm = 1⅛" has been worked at the top of hat. Cut the yarn and pull it through the stitches. Tighten tog and fasten the yarn tightly. |
