---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. Section marked with grey has already been worked, it only shows how next round should be worked in stitches. COLOR CHANGE. To get a nice transition between the color changes, work last single crochet before changing color as follows: Insert hook in last stitch, get yarn in new color, make a yarn over with the new color and pull it through all loops on hook. Continue with the new color. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- SLIPPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Worked in the round from middle of sole and upwards on foot. Note the color changes along the way, and read PATTERN. SOLE: Work the sole in the round, begin mid under sole. work a chain stitch row of 17-19-23 chain stitches (= area marked with grey in diagram A.1) on hook size 7 mm = US K or L with red. Then work in the round (i.e. on each side of this chain stitch row) as follows: (Beginning of round = mid back on heel) work A.1a over the first 2 chain stitches, work A.1b over the next 13-15-19 chain stitches, work A.1c over the last 2 chain stitches, work in the round on opposite side of chain stitch row, i.e. work A.1d over the first 2 chain stitches, work A.1e over the next 13-15-19 chain stitches and finish with A.1f over the last 2 chain stitches = 34-38-46 single crochets after first round. Continue this pattern. REMEMBER THE CROCHET GAUGE! When A.1 has been worked, there are 51-55-63 single crochets on last round. Sole measures approx. 27-29-33 cm = 10⅝"-11⅜"-13" in length. FOOT: Continue from mid back on heel with dark grey, and work next round as follows: Work A.2a over the first 4 stitches, repeat A.2b over the next 13-15-19 stitches, work A.2c over the next 17 stitches, repeat A.2d over the next 13-15-19 stitches and finish with A.2e over the last 4 stitches. Continue until entire diagram A.2 has been worked vertically – switch colors as explained in diagram = 41-45-53 single crochets on last round. Work A.3a over first stitch, repeat A.3c over the next 11-13-17 stitches, work A.3b over the next 17 stitches, repeat A.3c over the remaining 12-14-18 stitches. Continue until entire diagram A.3 has been worked vertically – switch colors as explained in diagram = 31-35-43 single crochets on last round. Cut and fasten the yarn. Work the other slipper the same way. FELTING: Place the slippers in the washing machine with a detergent without enzymes and optical bleach. Wash at 40 degrees with normal spin but no pre-wash. Put on the slipper and shape it to the correct size while it is still wet. At subsequent wash, wash the slippers at regular wool programme. AFTER FELTING: If the piece is not felted enough and is too big: Wash the piece one more time in the washing machine while it is still wet add a terry towel that measures approx. 50 x 70 cm = 19¾" x 27½" - NOTE: Do not use a short program. If the piece has been felted too much and is too small: While the piece is still wet stretch it to the correct measurements, if the piece is dry, make sure to soak it first. Remember: All subsequent washes are as a normal wool garment. |
