GARTER ST (in the round on double pointed needles): * K 1 round and P 1 round *, repeat from *-*. 1 ridge = 2 rounds. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. Diagrams show the pattern from RS. NOTE: Work pattern on EVERY round. HEEL DECREASE: Row 1 (= RS): Work until 5-6-7 sts remain, slip next st as if to K, K 1, psso, turn piece. Row 2 (= WS): Work until 5-6-7 sts remain, slip next st as if to P, P 1, psso, turn piece. Row 3 (= RS): Work until 4-5-6 sts remain, slip next st as if to K, K 1, psso, turn piece. Row 4 (= WS): Work until 4-5-6 sts remain, slip next st as if to P, P 1, psso, turn piece. Continue dec like this with 1 less st before each dec until there are 10-12-14 sts on needle. -------------------------------------------------------- SOCK: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 68-68-72 sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm / US 1.5 with Fabel. Work in GARTER ST - see explanation above - for 1 cm / ½". Then work as follows: P 6, rib K 2/P 2 over the next 18-18-22 sts (the first 2 and last 2 sts should be K), P 6, A.1 (= 38 sts). When piece measures 4 cm / 1½", dec 1 st in each side of rib as follows: P 4, P 2 tog, rib over the 18-18-22 sts as before, P 2 tog, P 4 (= 2 sts dec). Repeat dec every 4 cm / 1½" 3 more times (= 8 sts dec). AT THE SAME TIME when A.1 has been worked, continue with A.2 (= 34 sts) over A.1 = 56-56-60 sts on needle after all dec. When piece measures 19-20-21 cm / 7½"-8"-8¼", work in stockinette st over P sts and rib sts AT THE SAME TIME dec 4-0-0 sts evenly over these sts = 52-56-60 sts = 18-22-26 heel sts in stockinette st. Now keep the first 18-22-26 sts on needle for heel and slip the last 34 sts (= A.2) on 1 stitch holder (= mid on top of foot). Work in stockinette st back and forth on heel sts for 5-5.5-6 cm / 2"-2¼"-2⅜". Insert 1 marker in the middle of heel - now measure piece from here! Now dec for heel - see HEEL DECREASE! After heel dec, pick up 12-15-16 sts on each side of heel and slip the 34 sts from stitch holder back on needle = 68-76-80 sts. Continue with A.2 over sts on top of foot as before and work in stockinette st over the remaining sts. AT THE SAME TIME dec in each side as follows: K tog the last 2 sts before the 34 sts twisted (i.e. work in the back loop instead of front) and K tog the first 2 sts after the middle 34 sts on top of foot. Repeat dec every other round a total of 7-9-9 times = 54-58-62 sts. Work until piece measures 18-19-22 cm / 7"-7½"-8¼" from marker on heel (= approx. 4-5-5 cm / 1½"-2"-2" remain). Insert 1 marker in each side so that there are 24-26-28 sts on under foot and 30-32-34 sts on top of foot. Continue in stockinette st over all sts - AT THE SAME TIME dec 6 sts evenly on top of foot = 24-26-28 sts both on top of foot and under foot. Continue to dec for toes on each side of both markers as follows - beg 2 sts before st with marker: K 2 tog, K 1 (marker is in this st), K 2 twisted tog. Continue dec in each side every other round 4-7-6 times in total and then on every round 6-4-6 times = 8 sts remain on needle. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. |
