Body: Cast on 110-118 (126-134-140) sts on smaller circular needles and knit 4 cm [1.5"] rib. Change to larger needles and Pattern 1 one time, increasing 22-26 (30-34-40) sts evenly distributed on the 1st row = 132-144 (156-168-180) sts. At the same time, when the work measures 32-35 (39-41-43) cm [12-⅝" - 13.75" (15.25" - 16-⅛" - 16-⅞")], bind off 6-6 (7-8-8) sts at the center front for the neck. Then bind off at the neck edge every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 2 times, 1 st 2 times. Bind off after Pattern 1. The work measures approx. 40-43 (47-49-51) cm [15.75" - 16-⅞" (18.5" - 19.25" - 20")]. Back: = 66-72 (78-84-90) sts. Dec 1 st at each neck edge on the next row. Bind off after Pattern 1 is complete. The work measures approx. 40-43 (47-49-51) cm [15.75" - 16-⅞" (18.5" - 19.25" - 20")]. Sleeves: Cast on 28-28 (28-32-32) sts on smaller double pointed needles; join and place a marker at the join. Knit 4 cm [1.5"] rib. Change to larger double pointed needles and knit Pattern 1, increasing 6-6 (10-8-10) sts evenly distributed on the 1st row = 34-34 (38-40-42) sts (center the pattern on the sleeve). After the rib, inc 1 st each side of marker 15-17 (18-17-20) times: Sizes 3/4 + 5/6 + 7/8: alternately every other and every 3rd row Sizes 9/10 + 11/12: every 3rd row = 64-68 (74-74-82) sts. After Pattern 1 knit stockinette st until the work measures 11-14 (14-18-21) cm [4.25" - 5.5" (5.5" - 7" - 8.25")]. Then knit: Sizes 3/4 + 5/6: Pattern 3 Sizes 7/8 + 9/10 + 11/12: Pattern 2. When the work measures 23-26 (29-33-36) cm [9" - 10.25" (11-⅜" - 13" - 14-⅛")], bind off 3 sts each side of marker. Then put 6 sts at each side every other row on a st holder 2 times. Put all sts on the needles again and knit Pattern 1 over all sts. Bind off. The work measures approx. 27-30 (33-37-40) cm [10-⅝" - 11.75" (13" - 14.5" - 15.75")]. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approx. 80-100 sts on smaller needles coral along the left front for button band and knit 3 cm [1.25"] rib. Bind off. Repeat on the right front, but after 1 cm [3/8"] make 5 buttonholes evenly distributed across the row. (1 buttonhole = bind off 2 sts, cast on 2 sts on the next row over the bound-off sts.) Pick up 80-90 sts on smaller needles around the neck and knit 2 cm [0.75"] rib, bind off. Sew the sleeves to the body. Sew on the buttons. |
