Knitted DROPS shawl with lace pattern and bobbles in ”Lace”.
DROPS 133-16 |
|||||||||||||||||||
GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. PATTERN: See diagram. The diagram shows the pattern from RS. BOBBLE: 1st row (RS): Work 7 sts in 1 st as follows: * K 1, 1 YO *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times and finish with K 1 = 7 sts. It is important to work the sts loosely (approx. 1 cm / ⅜" long). 2nd row (WS): P these 7 sts tog. It will be difficult to work the sts from 1st row tog if they are too short and too tight. --------------------------------------------------------- SHAWL: NOTE! The shawl can be made wider or less wide by casting on 24 sts more or 24 sts less. Cast on 103 sts on needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 with Lace and K 1 row from WS. Work next row as follows: 3 sts in GARTER ST - see explanation above - 8 times diagram M.1, 1 st in stockinette st, 3 sts in garter st. Continue like this until diagram M.1 has been worked 1 time vertically, then K 5 rows and P 1 row from WS. Now work diagram M.2 4 times then 1 st in stockinette while AT THE SAME TIME continuing with 3 edge sts in garter st in each side. Work diagram M.2 1 time vertically, then K 5 rows and P 1 row from WS. Work next row as follows: 1 time diagram M.3A, 6 times diagram M.3B, and 1 time diagram M.3C with 3 edge sts in garter st in each side. Continue like this until piece measures approx. 75 cm / 29½", adjust so that one whole or half repetition of diagram M.3 has been worked vertically. Now K 4 rows over all sts. Put all sts on a stitch holder. Knit another part the same way. ASSEMBLY: Graft/sew the 2 parts tog st by st. BLOCKING: Place the shawl in lukewarm water until it is soaking wet. Carefully squeeze the water out of the shawl - do not twist the shawl - then roll the shawl in a towel and squeeze to remove more water - the shawl will now only be moist. Place the shawl on a carpet or mattress - carefully stretch it out to size and fasten it with pins. Leave to dry. Repeat the process when the garment has been washed. |
