Hi everyone. Could you Please post a video on how to knit the hat? I am just a beginner and couldn't figure out from the description, though it was really great.

Dear Lilit, read diagram from the bottom corner on the right side from the left on every round - you can insert markers between each repeat so that you can better figure out how to increase the sts between M.1. Should you need any individual assistance, you are welcome to contact your DROPS store, even per mail or telephone. Happy knitting!

Re: Drops 115-12 pattern for the hat. It says to cast on 112 sts. Then increase 7 sts evenly = 119 sts. After hat measures 1 1/2" inc 1 st between all the repeats of M.1 . Repeat the inc a total of 5 times = 204 sts. My math shows that 119 sts + 42 sts = 161 sts not 204.
20.01.2018 - 01:31DROPS Design answered:
Hi Earlene, You have 17 repeats of M.1, so 17 x 5 = 85 and 85 + 119 = 204. Happy knitting!

Thank you for the help! I figured it out and now it makes perfect sense. I still think you could post a video on how to work thumb gusset in rib as I am sure there are others who will struggle with this process. I am a very new knitter, only one year knitting, and some techniques still baffle me.

I saw your comment stating that you increase after third and fourth rib for the thumb gusset. I am not sure how to make the rib knit match after adding the yo stitches. If I continue with the k1, p1 as started originally once I get to the first yo and knit the back loop then do I p1, k1, and knit back loop on second yo? If I do this I end up with two knit stitches together at the first and second yo stitches. The next round do I continue with two knit stitches together?
11.02.2016 - 08:23DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mr Warren, the inc for thumb will be worked in rib on each side of the 3rd and 4th st, ie the rib should follow on thumb, if both sts for thumb are K1,P1, inc like this: YO, K1,P1, YO. On next round, P YO twisted, K1, P1, K YO twisted. After next inc, K YO twisted, P1, K1, P1, K1, P YO twisted and so on. Happy knitting!

Stricke die Mütze in der Größe 57/60 Bei mir sind es nach den ganzen Zunahmen nur 203 Maschen und nicht 204 Wobei 204 Maschen ja auch nicht ins Muster passen würde Kann mir jemand helfen?
18.10.2015 - 11:08DROPS Design answered:
Sie nehmen ja pro Zunahme-Rd 17 M zu und Sie haben 5 Zunahmen-Rd, 17 x 5 = 85 M, 119 M hatten Sie vorher, 119 + 85 = 204 M. Das Muster stricken Sie weiter nur über die 17 Muster-Rapporte, mit denen Sie angefangen haben, die zugenommenen M stricken Sie glatt re.

PATTERN: See diagram M.1. Diagram shows the pattern from RS. -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- HAT: Worked in the round. Cast on 106-112 sts on circular needle size 3 mm/ US 2or3 with Merino. K 1 round and then work 6 rounds rib, K1 / P1. Now K 1 round, AT THE SAME TIME inc 6-7 sts evenly = 112-119 sts. Change to circular needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 and continue in M.1 on all sts (= 16-17 repeats). REMEMBER THE GAUGE! AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 4 cm / 1½" inc 1 st between all the repeats of M.1 by making 1 YO. On next round K YO into back of loop to avoid a hole, and continue this new st in stockinette. Repeat the inc on every 4th round a total of 5 times (inc before the new st/sts in stockinette each time) = 192-204 sts. When piece measures 14-15 cm / 5½"-6" dec 1 st between each M.1 repeat by K tog into back of loops on the first 2 stockinette sts (dec the same sts as inc before). Repeat the dec on every 4th round a total of 5 times = 112-119 sts (only sts in pattern repeats left). When piece measures 22-23 cm / 8¾"-9" K2 tog across the round = 56-60 sts. Continue in stockinette st on all sts, and repeat this dec on every other round a total of 3 times = 14-15 sts. Cut the thread and pull it through remaining sts, tighten and fasten. Hat measures a total of approx 24-25 cm / 9½"-9¾". -------------------------------------------------------- RIGHT GLOVE: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 50-56 sts on double pointed needles size 3 mm / US 2or3 with Merino. K 1 round and continue in rib, K1/P1. When piece measures 3 cm / 1⅛" work next round as follows: rib, K1/P1, on the first 7 sts and stockinette st on remaining sts, AT THE SAME TIME dec 8-7 sts evenly on stockinette sts = 42-49 sts. Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 mm / US 4 and continue as follows: rib, K1/P1, on the first 7 sts and M.1 on the next 35-42 sts. When piece measures 8 cm / 3⅛" inc for thumb each side of 3rd and 4th rib-st (these 2 sts = thumb sts) – inc by making 1 YO, on next round work YO into back of loop and incorporate inc sts in rib as you go along. Repeat the inc on every other round a total of 6-7 times = 14-16 thumb sts (a total of 19-21 rib sts). When piece measures 13-14 cm / 5⅛"-5½" slip the 14-16 thumb sts on a stitch holder, on next round cast on 2 new sts behind thumb sts = 42-49 sts. Continue in rib and pattern as before. When piece measures 17-18 cm / 6¾"-7" - adjust to after 3rd row in M.1 – work 1 round stockinette st, AT THE SAME TIME inc 8-7 sts evenly on M.1 = 50-56 sts. Change to double pointed needles size 3 mm / US 2or3 and continue in rib, K1/P1, on all sts. When rib measures 3-4 cm / 1⅛"-1½" bind off with K over K and P over P. Piece measures approx 20-22 cm / 8"-8¾". THUMB: Slip the 14-16 thumb sts on double pointed needles size 3 mm / US 2or3 and pick up 4 sts in the edge behind these = 18-20 sts. Work rib, K1/ P1 in the round for approx 2-3 cm / ¾"-1⅛", bind off with K over K and P over P. LEFT GLOVE: Like right glove, but mirrored. |
