Regarding the directions for the back neck area, are you to put the shoulder sts on hold and then replicate the button band but knitting it horizontally instead of vertically as the front is knit? Then resume the shoulder sts? These directions leave much to be desired.
20.02.2025 - 21:09DROPS Design answered:
Dear Louise, on back piece leave cast off the middle stitches and finish each shoulder separately working the 5 stitches towards neck the same way as you worked the 5 front band stitches on each front piece, but do not work any buttonholes on the shoulders back piece. Happy knitting!

Hi, For the sleeve, I am not sure how to “Knit the increased sts in the pattern as you go along.” I am knitting size S, so I will increase 9 sts on each side of the K stitch. Would my increases be 1K, 5 x 1P, 1K, 2x 1P?
22.01.2024 - 23:12DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Dalle, you will increase on each side of the K1 mid under sleeve so that the rib will get wider: knit the first increase on each side of marker (there are now K3 next to each other), then Purl the next 5 increases so that you will have a full repeat of the pattern, K1, P5 all the round, and continue like this, ie knit the next increase, purl the next increases, etc.. Happy knitting!

I don't understand the waffle stitch/procedure. Is it possible to explain in more detail? In particular, "pull a strand of yarn with a crochet hook". Where does the "strand of yarn" come from? Is it strand of yarn that is used to knit the row?
08.03.2023 - 00:41DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mary, it's a loose strand you should cut from the ball - this video shows another technique for smocks, but it still could help you. Happy knitting!
