The pattern only provides a general diagram, however, when you make increases, you have to calculate which part of the diagram would be following. This was very hard!! It would be really helpful to insert a diagram just for increases body + sleeves

In this pattern, I find it difficult to know how to make the increases (i.e. how to follow the diagram). Could be helpful to have a special diagram for the increases for both the body and the sleeves.

Dear Frida, the pattern should be repeated all the rounds/rows. Note where you start and continue outwards so that diagram repeats match. Happy knitting!

DROPS men ’s jumper with pattern in “Karisma Superwash”. Size M – L.

Pattern: See diagram. The diagram shows the pattern from the RS and the entire pattern is worked in stockinette st. 1 square = 1 st x 1 row 1 repeat = 34 sts x 16 rows Body: The jumper is worked in the round on circular needle and cut for armholes afterwards. Cast on 216-252 sts on circular needle size 2 mm/ US 0 with black and work 5 cm / 2" stockinette st, P 1 round (= folding edge). Insert a marker each side. Continue in pattern – see diagram - beg by arrow and work pattern on front piece (to the marker), beg by arrow again and repeat pattern on back piece. After 5 cm / 2" pattern change to needle size 4 mm / US 6 and continue in pattern, at the same time inc 2 sts each side (= 1 st on each side of marker) on every 5-7 round a total of 12 times = 264-300 sts. When piece measures 70-80 cm from folding edge, work 1 round in black and bind off all sts. Sleeve: Worked in the round. Cast on 45-52 sts on double pointed needles size 2 mm with black and work 3 cm / 1" stockinette st, P 1 round (= folding edge), and then 3 cm / 1" pattern. Change to small circular needle size 4 mm / US 6 and continue in pattern, at the same time inc 2 sts mid under arm on every other round a total of 50-56 times = 145-164 sts. When piece measures 45-50 cm from folding edge work 1 round black stockinette st and then 5 rounds in reverse stockinette st (for sewing sleeve to body piece). Bind off. Assembly: Insert a marking thread each side to mark the armhole = approx 35-39 cm. Sew 2 seams on a sewing machine around the marking thread, 1st seam = ½ st from the thread, 2nd seam = ½ st from the 1st seam. Cut for armholes. Insert a marking thread at front to mark the neckline – see chart – and sew 2 seams on a sewing machine as described above. Cut away surplus material. Sew the shoulder seams = 22-26 cm. Pick up 120-140 sts round the neck on small circular needle size 2 mm/US 0 with black and K 3 rounds, P 1 round, K 5 rounds and bind off. Fold edge double towards WS and fasten. Set in sleeves as follows: sew the last row in stockinette st on sleeves to row after machine seam on armhole. Turn jumper inside out and fasten piece in reverse stockinette st on sleeve to body piece. |
