Gauge: 23 sts x 30 rows on larger needle in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm [4" x 4"]. Pattern: See chart (1 chart = 1 repeat). The pattern is seen from the right side. Rib: * K 2, P 2 * Body: Cast on 160-168-180 (188-200) sts on smaller circular needles; join and place a marker at the join. Knit 5 cm [2"] rib. Change to larger circular needles and stockinette st, increasing 24-24-28 (36-40) sts evenly distributed on the 1st row = 184-192-208 (224-240) sts. Establish the pattern as follows: * Pattern 1, Pattern 2 (3 times - finish with an extra 1st row of Pattern 2), Pattern 1, Pattern 3 (2 times), Pattern 1, Pattern 4 (5 times) *, repeat * - * to finished dimensions. At the same time, when the work measures 26-28-31 (32-33) cm [10.25" - 11" - 12.25" (12-⅝" - 13")], divide into front and back (92-96-104 (112-120) sts each), which are knit separately. Front: = 92-96-104 (112-120) sts. When the work measures 30-32-36 (37-39) cm [11.75" - 12-⅝" - 14-⅛" (14.5" - 15.25")], bind off the center 6 sts for the neck and knit the rest of each part separately. When the work measures 41-44-49 (51-53) cm [16-⅛" - 17.25" - 19.25" (20" - 20-⅞")], bind off for the neck every other row: 14-14-15 (15-16) sts 1 time, 2 sts 1 time, dec 1 st 2 times. Bind off all sts when the work measures 45-48-53 (55-57) cm [17.75" - 18-⅞" - 20-⅞" (21-⅝" - 22.5")]. Back: = 92-96-104 (112-120) sts. When the work measures 43-46-51 (53-55) cm [16-⅞" - 18-⅛" - 20" (20-⅞" - 21-⅝")], bind off the center 40-40-42 (42-44) sts for the neck. Then dec 1 st at each neck edge on the next row. Bind off when the work measures 45-48-53 (55-57) cm [17.75" - 18-⅞" - 20-⅞" (21-⅝" - 22.5")]. Sleeves: Cast on 36-36-40 (40-44) sts on smaller double pointed needles; join and place a marker at the join. Knit 5 cm [2"] rib. Change to larger double pointed needles and stockinette st, increasing 10-10-10 (16-14) sts evenly distributed on the 1st row = 46-46-50 (56-58) sts. Knit pattern as follows: Pattern 1, Pattern 2: 1-2-3 (3-4) times, Pattern 1, Pattern 3: 2-2-2 (2-2) times, Pattern 1, Pattern 4: 3-3-4 (5-7) times and Pattern 1 (See that you get a repeat directly centered on the sleeve). After the rib, inc 1 st each side of marker 21-23-26 (23-26) times: Size 3/4: alternately every 2nd and 3rd row Sizes 5/6 + 7/8: every 3rd row Sizes 9/10 + 11/12: alternately every 3rd and 4th row = 88-92-102 (102-110) sts. Bind off all sts after completing last Pattern 1. The work measures approx. 26-30-33 (36-40) cm [10.25" - 11.75" - 13" (14-⅛" - 15.75")]. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams. Pick up approx. 30-40 sts along the left neck split on smaller double pointed needles and knit 2.5 cm [1"] rib back and forth on the needles, bind off all sts. Repeat along the right neck split, but after 1 cm [3/8"] make 3 buttonholes evenly distributed - 1 buttonhole = bind off 2 sts and increase 2 new sts on the next row. Pick up approx. 90-100 sts around the neck from the wrong side on smaller circular needles and knit rib back and forth on needles from the center front, increasing 1 st directly on top of each shoulder every other row, working the increased sts into rib pattern. Bind off when the collar measures 5-5-5 (6-6) cm [2" - 2" - 2" (2-⅜" - 2-⅜")]. Sew the placket together at the bottom. Sew on the sleeves and buttons. |
