Grazie

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. The diagrams show all rows in the pattern from the right side. The pattern is worked in stockinette stitch ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- DRESS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round, top down. The lining and belt are worked first, then the skirt. A lining is worked at the bottom of the skirt. The straps are worked back and forth and sewn on to finish. LINING (for belt): Cast on 108-120 (132-144-156) stitches with circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4 and color plum. Work stockinette stitch in the round. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When the piece measures 10 cm = 4", work the next round as follows: * Knit 2 together, 1 yarn over *, work from *-* over all stitches (folding-edge). The yarn overs are not worked twisted on the next round. BELT: Work A.1 over all stitches. When A.1 has been completed in height, the belt measures approx. 11 cm = 4⅜" (22 cm = 8¾" including the lining). SKIRT: THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE! Work with color black as follows: * Knit 1, 1 yarn over *, work from *-* over all stitches = 216-240 (264-288-312) stitches. The yarn overs are knitted twisted on the next round to avoid holes. Continue with stockinette stitch until the skirt measures 17-20 (23-27-29) cm = 6¾"-8" (9"-10⅝"-11⅜") – there is 8 cm = 3⅛" left. Work A.2 over all stitches. When A.2 has been completed in height, the skirt measures approx. 25-28 (31-35-37) cm = 9¾"-11" (12¼"-13¾"-14½"). LINING (skirt): Work with color black as follows: * Knit 2 together, 1 yarn over *, work from *-* over all stitches (folding-edge). The yarn overs are not worked twisted on the next round. THE PIECE IS NOW MEASURED FROM HERE! Work A.3 over all stitches. When A.3 has been completed in height, continue with color black until the lining measures 8 cm = 3⅛" from the folding-edge. Bind off. ASSEMBLY: Fold the lining at the top of the dress to the wrong side and sew down with color plum – sew to a round of plum on the belt; if the lining is too short or too long, use the color of the row you are then sewing to. Do the same with the lining at the bottom of the skirt using color black. STRAPS: The straps are approx. 30-34 (38-38-42) cm = 11¾"-13⅜" (15"-15"-16½") in length, with 5 cm = 2" extra on each side to adjust as the child grows. Cast on less/more stitches if you want shorter/longer straps (the number of stitches should be divisible by 4 + 2). Cast on 74-82 (90-90-98) stitches with circular needle size 3.5 MM = US 4 and color black. Work 6 rows of stockinette stitch back and forth, with 1 edge stitch in GARTER STITCH – read description above, on each side. Work the next row from the right side as follows: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, * knit 2 together, 1 yarn over *, work from *-* until there is 1 stitch left and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch (folding-edge). Continue with A.4 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side (the edge stitches are worked in the same color as the first/last stitch in A.4 – yarn overs are not worked twisted). When A.4 has been completed in height, work a folding edge from the wrong side with black as follows: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, * purl 2 together, 1 yarn over *, work from *-* until there is 1 stitch left and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Work 6 rows with black (yarn overs are not worked twisted), fold the edges down to make sure they are not tight; work extra rows if necessary. Bind off. Sew the cast-on and bind-off edges together in the outermost loop of the outermost stitch. Work the second strap in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the straps neatly to the lining at the top of the dress (i.e. to the wrong side of the belt), approx. 5 cm = 2" down and with 8-8 (9-10-10) cm = 3⅛"-3⅛" (3½"-4"-4") between each strap mid-front and mid-back. |
