------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- HEEL DECREASES: ROW 1 (= right side): Knit until there are 6-7-7 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, turn the piece. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl until there are 6-7-7 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to purl, purl 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the purled stitch, turn the piece. ROW 3 (= right side): Knit until there are 5-6-6 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch, turn the piece. ROW 4 (= wrong side): Purl until there are 5-6-6 stitches left, slip 1 stitch as if to purl, purl 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the purled stitch, turn the piece. Continue to decrease like this, working until there is 1 stitch less each time before slipping a stitch and until there are 14-14-16 stitches left on the needle. DECREASE TIP (toe): Start 3 stitches before the marker, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread sits between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (2 stitches decreased). Repeat at the other marker. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SOCKS – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round with double pointed needles, top down. LEG: Cast on 56-60-64 stitches with double pointed needles size 3 MM = US 2.5 and color lemon DROPS Karisma. Knit 1 round. Then work rib (knit 2, purl 2) as follows: 4-4½-5 cm = 1½"-1⅝"-2" with color lemon, 3 rounds with color medium pink, 3 rounds with color lemon, 3 rounds with color medium pink. Continue with rib in color lemon until the piece measures 12-14-16 cm = 4¾"-5½"-6¼". Change to double pointed needles size 3.5 MM = US 4. Work stockinette stitch with color lemon until the piece measures 13-15-17 cm = 5⅛"-6"-6¾" – AT THE SAME TIME on the first round decrease 8 stitches evenly spaced = 48-52-56 stitches. HEEL AND FOOT: Work stockinette stitch over the first 12-13-14 stitches with lemon, keep these stitches on the needle for the heel, place the next 24-26-28 stitches on a thread (top of foot), and keep the last 12-13-14 stitches on the needle = 24-26-28 heel stitches. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! Change to color medium pink and work stockinette stitch back and forth over the heel stitches for 6-6-6½ cm = 2⅜"-2⅜"-2½". Insert 1 marker in the middle of the last row – the foot is measured from this marker. Work HEEL DECREASES with color medium pink – read description above. After the heel decreases work the next round with off white as follows: Stockinette stitch over the first 14-14-16 heel stitches, knit up 13-13-14 stitches along the side of the heel, stockinette stitch over the 24-26-28 stitches from the thread and knit up 13-13-14 stitches along the other side of the heel = 64-66-72 stitches. Work to the middle of the heel – the round now starts here. Insert 1 marker on each side of the 24-26-28 stitches on top of the foot. Work stockinette stitch in the round with color off white and decrease on each side of the 24-26-28 stitches on top of the foot as follows: Knit together the last 2 stitches before the first marker and knit twisted together the first 2 stitches after the second marker. Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 10-9-10 times = 44-48-52 stitches. Continue working until the foot measures 18-19-22 cm = 7"-7½"-8¾" from the marker on the heel, measured under the foot. There is approx. 4-5-5 cm = 1½"-2"-2" left; try the sock on and work to desired length. TOE: Insert 1 marker in each side with 22-24-26 stitches both on top and underneath the foot. Work stockinette stitch, AT THE SAME TIME on the first round decrease for the toe on each side of both markers – read DECREASE TIP (= 4 stitches decreased). Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 4-5-5 times, then every round 5-5-6 times = 8-8-8 stitches. Cut the strand, pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. The sock measures approx. 22-24-27 cm = 8¾"-9½"-10⅝" from the marker on the heel, measured under the foot. Work the other sock in the same way. |
