Witam.

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. The diagram shows all rows in the pattern from the right side. DECREASE TIP-1 (evenly spaced): To work out how to decrease evenly, count the total number of stitches on needle (e.g. 87 stitches), and divide by number of decreases to be made (e.g. 24) = 3.6. In this example decrease by alternately knitting together each 2nd and 3rd stitch and each 3rd and 4th stitch. BINDING-OFF TIP: To avoid the bind-off edge being tight you can bind off with a larger size needle. If the edge is still tight, make 1 yarn over after approx. each 6th stitch at the same time as binding off; the yarn overs are bind off as normal stitches. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- VEST – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The back and front pieces are worked separately, back and forth, then sewn together. Ribbed edges are worked around the armholes and the neck to finish. BACK PIECE: Cast on 87-95-103-111-121-131 stitches with needle size 4.5 MM = US 7 and 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands). Purl 1 row from the wrong side. Then work rib as follows: 1 edge stitch in GARTER STITCH – read description above, work A.1 until there are 2 stitches left, work the first stitch in A.1 so the rib is symmetrical and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue this rib back and forth for 10 cm = 4". Knit 1 row from the right side where you decrease 24-26-29-31-34-36 stitches evenly spaced – read DECREASE TIP = 63-69-74-80-87-95 stitches. Cast on 1 stitch at the end of the row (= edge stitch for the seam). Turn work and change to needle size 6 MM = US 10. Purl to the end of the row and cast on 1 stitch (= edge stitches for the seam) = 65-71-76-82-89-97 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When the piece measures 25-26-27-28-29-30 cm = 9¾"-10¼"-10⅝"-11"-11⅜"-11¾", bind off 3-4-4-5-6-7 stitches for the armholes at the beginning of the next 2 rows = 59-63-68-72-77-83 stitches. Then bind off 1 stitch on each side every 4th row a total of 3-4-5-6-7-8 times = 53-55-58-60-63-67 stitches. Continue with stockinette stitch and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side. When the piece measures 50-52-54-56-58-60 cm = 19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝", bind off the middle 23-25-26-26-27-29 stitches for the neck and finish each shoulder separately. Bind off 1 stitch on the next row from the neck = 14-14-15-16-17-18 stitches on the shoulder. Work until the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm = 20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜". Bind off with knit from the right side – read BINDING-OFF TIP! Work the other shoulder in the same way. FRONT PIECE: Cast on 87-95-103-111-121-131 stitches with needle size 4.5 MM = US 7 and 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands). Purl 1 row from the wrong side. Then work rib as follows: 1 edge stitch in GARTER STITCH – read description above, work A.1 until there are 2 stitches left, work the first stitch in A.1, so the rib is symmetrical, and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue this rib back and forth for 10 cm = 4". Knit 1 row from the right side where you decrease 24-26-29-31-34-36 stitches evenly spaced = 63-69-74-80-87-95 stitches. Cast on 1 stitch at the end or row (= edge stitch for the seam). When the piece measures 44-45-47-48-50-51 cm = 17¼"-17¾"-18½"-19"-19¾"-20", place the middle 11-13-14-14-15-17 stitches on a thread for the neck and finish each shoulder separately. Bind off on each row from the neck as follows: 2 stitches 2 times and 1 stitch 3 times = 14-14-15-16-17-18 stitches on the shoulder. Work until the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm = 20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜". Bind off with knit from the right side – remember BINDING-OFF TIP! Work the other shoulder in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams inside the bind-off edge. Sew the side seams from the armhole down, inside the 1 edge stitch, leaving a 10 cm = 4" split at the bottom. SLEEVE-EDGES: Start from the right side at the bottom of the armhole and knit up 92 to 110 stitches around the armhole inside the 1 edge stitch, with circular needle size 4.5 MM = US 7 and 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands). The number of stitches should be divisible by 2 and the edge should not be tight. Work A.1 in the round for 5 cm = 2". Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Work the other sleeve-edge in the same way. DOUBLE NECK: Start from the right side on the one shoulder and knit up 72 to 92 stitches (including the stitches from the thread) around the neck, inside the 1 edge stitch with circular needle size 4.5 MM = US 7 and 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands). The number of stitches should be divisible by 4 and the neck should not be tight. Work A.1 in the round for 10-10-12-12-14-14 cm = 4"-4"-4¾"-4¾"-5½"-5½". Now increase every second purl-1 to purl-2 (so the neck is not tight when folded down) = 90 to 115 stitches. Continue this new rib until the neck measures 13-13-15-15-17-17 cm = 5⅛"-5⅛"-6"-6"-6¾"-6¾" or to desired length. Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. Fold the neck double to the inside and sew down. To avoid the neck being tight, it is important that the seam is elastic. |
