How many stitches do I have to add to make the blanket wider.
11.04.2024 - 15:42DROPS Design answered:
Hi Mel, you have to add stitches for as many repetitions of A.2 pattern as you want. For example: to get a blanket 11 cm wider, you should add approx. 21 stitches (3 repetitions of A.2). See KNITTING TENSION and swatch measurements for A.2 pattern to calculate this. Happy knitting!

Bon tricot!

Bonjour Mme Francoeur, tricotez le 1er rang de A.2 ainsi: 1 m env, 2 m ens à l'end, 1 jeté, 2 m env, 1 m end, 1 m env. Bon tricot!

Hi! How would I wash this blanket, seeing as the 2 combined yarns have completely different washing instructions? Also, is mohair safe for a baby (with the hairs being a bit more fuzzy)? Many thanks for your help!
13.09.2022 - 09:12DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mia, follow the instructions of Kid-Silk, ie even if Baby Merino is superwash, don't wash the blanket in the washing machine because kid-Silk is not superwash. Find even more instructions here. Happy knitting!

I am not sure what to do with 2 additional stitches. If to count the stitches in the pattern after decrease you have 124 In total. Two edge , 11 at each end and 98 for the pattern . 2+ 22 + 98 =122 . What about two extra stitches? What to do with them and how to knit them . Please explain or I am doing something wrong. thank you Alla
13.03.2022 - 18:37DROPS Design answered:
Dear Alla, start working as follows: A.1 over the first 11 stitches (including the edge stitch), A.2 over 98 stitches + the first 4 stitches of A.2 (so that the pattern is symmetrical), A.3 over 11 stitches (including the edge stitch). That's 124 stitches. Happy knitting!

I don't understand why you can't just write out a printed pattern instead of only printing a diagram people do not totally understand diagrams and won't use them.

Buon lavoro!

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge in height = Knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. The diagrams show all rows in the pattern from the right side. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- BLANKET – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked back and forth with circular needle. BLANKET: Cast on 97-125 stitches with circular needle size 5 MM = US 8 and 1 strand Baby Merino and 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). Purl 1 row from the wrong side. Then work rib as follows: 1 edge stitch in GARTER STITCH – read description above, * knit 1, purl 1 *, work from *-* until there are 2 stitches left, knit 1 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue this rib back and forth for approx. 4 cm = 1½" – adjust so the next row is from the right side. The next row is worked as follows: Work the first 11 stitches as before, knit 2 together (= 1 stitch decreased), work stockinette stitch until there are 11 stitches left and work the last 11 stitches as before = 96-124 stitches. The next row is worked as follows from the wrong side: Work the first 11 stitches as before, purl until there are 11 stitches left and work the last 11 stitches as before. Now work pattern as follows: A.1 over the first 11 stitches (the pattern should fit with knit over knit and purl over purl), A.2 over the next 70-98 stitches (= 10-14 repeats of 7 stitches), work the first 4 stitches in A.2, so the pattern matches on both sides of the blanket, and finish with A.3 over the last 11 stitches. Continue back and forth like this. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When the piece measures 48-76 cm = 19"-29½" – adjust so the next row is from the right side, work as follows: Work A.1, knit 74-102 and increase 1 stitch, work A.3 = 97-125 stitches. The next row is worked as follows from the wrong side: Work the first 11 stitches as before, purl until there are 11 stitches left and work the last 11 stitches as before. Now work rib as follows: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, * knit 1, purl 1 *, work from *-* until there are 2 stitches left, knit 1 and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue this rib for 4 cm = 1½". Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. The blanket measures approx. 52-80 cm = 20½"-31½" from the cast-on edge. |
