What does your pattern for White Amaryllis mean when it says "you first work a displacement in the rib, then work stocking stitch before finishing with rib". The pattern does not even mention a rib. I am knitting the warmer and find the directions difficult, although I am an experienced knitter. I purchased the yarn stated in the pattern from you.

Dear Mrs Leibbrandt, you start neck warmer wit diagram A.1 and while working diagram in the round you will displace automatically (with the Yarn over and K2 tog) the rib. After A.1 has been worked, all stitches are worked in stocking stitch, you continue in stockng stitch then work rib K1 twisted/P1. Happy knitting!

Hullo!!! I would like to knit matching wrist warmers. do I follow the same as neck warmer but do two repetitions of the pattern for example? How do I calculate how many stiches to cast on? 144 stiches with 8 repetitions so, 36 for 2? Thank you.

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 and A.2. Choose diagram for your size. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- HAT - SHORT SUMMARY OF THE WORK: The hat is worked in the round with circular needle. Change to double pointed needles when necessary. HAT: Cast on 96-108 stitches with circular needle size 4.5 mm / US 7 and 1 strand Lima and 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). Work A.1 (= 16-18 stitches) a total of 6 times in width. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! When A.1 has been worked 1 time in height there are 90-102 stitches on the needle. The piece measures approx. 9-10 cm / 4". Continue in stockinette stitch. When the piece measures 17-18 cm / 6 3/4-7" from the cast-on edge, work A.2 (= 15-17 stitches) a total of 6 times in width. When A.2 has been worked 1 time in height there are 36 stitches on the needle. Work all stitches together 2 and 2 = 18 stitches. Work all stitches together 2 and 2 = 9 stitches. Cut the strands, pull them through the remaining stitches, tighten the strands and fasten well. The hat measures approx. 26-28 cm / 10 ¼"-11" from the top down. ------------------------------------------------------- NECK WARMER - SHORT SUMMARY OF THE WORK: The piece is worked in the round with circular needle. You first work a displacement in the rib, then work stockinette stitch before finishing with rib. NECK WARMER: Cast on 128-144 stitches with circular needle size 4.5 mm / US 7 and 1 strand Lima and 1 strand Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). Work A.1 (= 16-18 stitches) a total of 8 times in width. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! When A.1 has been worked 1 time in height there are 120-136 stitches on the needle. The piece measures approx. 9-10 cm / 3½"-4". Continue in stockinette stitch. When the piece measures 22-24 cm / 8⅝"-9⅜" from the cast-on edge, increase 22-24 stitches evenly on round (i.e. increase by making 1 yarn over after alternately every 5th and 6th stitch) = 142-160 stitches. The yarn overs are worked twisted on the next round to avoid holes! Work rib (= knit 1 twisted, purl 1). Bind off while working knit twisted over knit twisted and purl over purl when the piece measures 26-28 cm / 10 ¼"-11" from the cast-on edge. |
