Hei Siv-Hilde.

Thanks for that, could you also let me know the actual foot circumference of the finished sock? Thanks

Dear Mrs Klaveness, foot circumference is the basic one matching the foot sizes. You can work a swatch in wave pattern to check if required. Happy knitting!

Hi, what you mean by in stripes , pull thread along on WS of piece? it seems that the colour change falls to the start of the row and in circular knitting it is the same stich in every row. do you mean pull along vertically? thank you

Dear Gaby, yes you are right, along mean here when working, ie vertically, so that you don't have to cut and fasten the yarns at each stripe. Happy knitting!

STRIPES: When working stripes in diagram, pull thread along on WS of piece, to avoid cutting and fastening it every time. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.3. HEEL DECREASE: Row 1 (= RS): Work until 7-7-8 sts remain, slip next st as if to K, K 1, psso, turn piece. Row 2 (= WS): Work until 7-7-8 sts remain, slip next st as if to P, P 1, psso, turn piece. Row 3 (= RS): Work until 6-6-7 sts remain, slip next st as if to K, K 1, psso, turn piece. Row 4 (= WS): Work until 6-6-7 sts remain, slip next st as if to P, P 1, psso, turn piece. Continue dec like this with 1 st less before each dec until there are 14-16-16 sts on needle. ---------------------------------------------------------- SOCK: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 76-76-76 sts on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm / US 1.5 with off white. K 1 round and P 1 round. Then work A.1 (= 4 repetition in all sizes). When A.1 has been worked one time vertically, there are 68-68-68 sts on round. Continue with A.2. When piece measures 7-7-8 cm / 2 ¾"-2 ¾"-3", keep the first 25 sts on needle for heel, slip the next 35 sts on 1 stitch holder (= mid on top of foot) and keep the last 8 sts on needle for heel = 33 sts for heel. Work in stockinette st back and forth over heel sts with shoreline, AT THE SAME TIME on 1st row dec 7-5-3 sts evenly = 26-28-30 sts. When heel measures 5-5½-6 cm / 2"-2 1/4"-2½", insert 1 marker in the middle of heel - NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE. Now work HEEL DECREASE - see explanation above! After heel dec, pick up 13-14-16 sts on each side of heel and slip the 35 sts from stitch holder back on needle = 75-79-83 sts. Continue pattern as before on top of foot (= A.3) and work in stockinette st over the remaining sts - AT THE SAME TIME dec in each side as follows: K tog the last 2 sts before the 35 sts twisted (i.e. work in the back loop instead of front) and K tog the first 2 sts after the middle 35 sts on top of foot. Repeat dec every other round 10 times in total = 55-59-63 sts. Work until piece measures 17-19-21 cm / 6 ¾"-7½"-8 ¼" from marker on heel (= 5-5-6 cm / 2"-2"-2½" remain). Insert 1 marker in each side so that there are 27-29-31 sts on top of foot and 28-30-32 sts under foot. Continue working stockinette st over all sts while AT THE SAME TIME dec for toes on each side of both markers as follows: Before marker: K 2 tog. After marker: K 2 twisted tog. Repeat dec in each side every other round a total of 7-6-7 times and then every round a total of 4-6-6 times = 11 sts remain on needle. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining sts, tighten tog and fasten. |
