Excuse me is there a video about putting up a zipper in knitting sweater

Dear Mrs Taha, we do not have any yet, but in this pattern, you will work over the 3 sts in garter st on one side until this "band" has the right length, then fold this band from WS along the edge stitches and sew the zipper between the edge on front piece and this "lining" - repeat on the other side with the 3 remaining stitches. Happy knitting!

M.vr.gr. Merian

Knitting gauge: 21 sts x 28 rows on needle size 4 mm / US 6 and pattern = 10 x 10 cm / 4" x 4". Double Seed st: Round 1+2: * K1, P1 *, repeat from *-*. Round 3: * P over K and K over P *, repeat from *-*. Round 4: * K over K and P over P * Repeat these 4 rounds. Rib-1: * K1, P1 *, repeat from *-*. Rib-2: * K1, P3 *, repeat from *-*. Garter st (back and forth): K sts on every row. Body: Cast on 156-168-180 (192-204-216) sts on circular needle size 2.5 mm / US 2 with Navy and work in Rib-1 for 4-4-5 (5-6-6) cm / 1½"-1½"-2" (2"-2½"-2½"). Change to circular needle size 4 mm / US 6 and continue in double seed st - see above. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! When piece measures 17-19-20 (23-24-25) cm / 6¾"-7½"-8" (9"-9½"-9¾") work the stripes (in seed st as before) as follows: 4 rounds off-white, 2 rounds navy, 14-16-18 (20-22-24) rounds burgundy, 1 round navy – piece now measures approx 25-28-30 (33-35-37) cm / 9¾"-11"-11¾" (13"-13¾"-14½"). Work next round in navy, at the same time as binding off 2 middle sts mid front for zipper split. Continue piece working back and forth from mid front – work 3 edge sts each side of split in garter st, and work the rest of the sts in double seed st as before. Work 4 rows off-white, and then finish navy. At the same time, when piece measures 28-31-33 (36-37-38) cm / 11"-12¼"-13" (14¼"-14½"-15") bind off for armholes as follows: work 35-38-41 (44-47-50) sts (= right front piece), bind off 6 sts for armhole, work 72-78-84 (90-96-102) sts (= back piece), bind off 6 sts for armhole, work 35-38-41 (44-47-50) sts (= left front piece). Complete each piece separately. Right front piece: = 35-38-41 (44-47-50) sts. Bind off for armhole in beg of every row from armhole side: 3 sts 1-1-1 (1-1-2) times, 2 sts 2-2-2 (2-3-3) times, 1 st 2-2-1 (3-3-2) times = 26-29-33 (34-35-36) sts. When piece measures 37-41-44 (48-50-52) cm / 14½"-16⅛"-17¼" (19"-19¾"-20½") bind off 7-8-9 (10-10-11) sts for neck on next row from mid front. Then bind off to shape the neckline in beg of every row from neck: 2 sts 3 times, 1 st 1 time. Bind off when piece measures 41-45-48 (53-55-57) cm / 16⅛"-17¾"-19" (21"-21⅝"-22½"). Left front piece: Work like right piece but reversed. Back: = 72-78-84 (90-96-102) sts. Bind off for armholes each side as described for front piece = 54-60-68 (70-72-74) sts. When piece measures 40-44-47 (52-54-56) cm / 15¾"-17¼"-18½" (20½"-21¼"-22") bind off the middle 26-28-30 (32-32-34) sts for neck and work each shoulder separate. Continue and bind off 2 sts at neckline on the next row from neck. Bind off when piece measures 41-45-48 (53-55-57) cm / 16⅛"-17¾"-19" (21"-21⅝"-22½"). Sleeve: Work the sleeve back and forth on circular needle as the piece has a tendency to twist when working in the round in pattern at the same time as increasing. Cast on 44-44-48 (52-52-54) sts (includes 1 edge st each side for assembly) on circular needle size 2.5 mm / US 2 in navy. Work Rib-1 – with edge st in garter st throughout - for 4-4-5 (5-6-6) cm / 1½"-1½"-2" (2"-2½"-2½"). Change to circular needle size 4 mm / US 6 and continue working in double seed st – at the same time inc 1 st each side, repeat inc on every 4-3.5-4 (3.5-3-3) cm / 1½"-1¼"-1½" (1¼"-1⅛"-1⅛") a total of 5-7-7 (9-11-12) times = 54-58-62 (70-74-78) sts. Work increased sts into the pattern as work progresses. When piece measures 26-30-33 (37-40-43) cm / 10¼"-11¾"-13" (14½"-15¾"-17") bind off for sleeve cap in beg of every row, each side: 3 sts 1-1-1 (2-2-2) times, 2 sts 2-2-3 (2-2-2) times, 1 st 4-3-2 (3-4-6) times, 2 sts 2-3-3 (2-2-2) times, 3 sts 1-1-1 (2-2-2) times. Bind off, the piece measures approx 33-37-40 (45-49-53) cm / 13"-14½"-15¾" (17¾"-19¼"-21"). Assembly: Sew the shoulder seams. Pick up approx 87-115 sts (divisible by 4 + 7 sts) around the neckline on needle size 2.5 mm / US 2 in navy and work in Rib-2 with 3 sts in garter st on each side of split in front - for 5-6-6 (7-7-8) cm / 2"-2½"-2½" (2¾"-2¾"-3"). Bind off all sts except from the 3 garter sts in each side mid front. Now, work the addition for the zipper as follows: Continue to work the 3 garter sts to the same length as zipper, bind off. Sew in the zipper – for the sizes where this is too long; sew it in from the top and cut it off at the bottom to the right length – sew over the cut off on the zip so it doesn’t fray. Double over the addition towards WS, over the zipper and sew in. Sew the sleeve seams and sew in the sleeves. |
