POT HOLDER 1: Cast on 25 sts on needle size 2.5 mm / US 1½ with blue/purple. Leave approx 30 cm / 12" thread end, and use this to tighten pot holder tog – tighten as you go along to make measuring easier. K 1 row from WS and continue in garter st. i.e. K all rows. AT THE SAME TIME work turns as follows: *Work 1 row on the first 5 sts, turn and work return row. Work 1 row on the first 10 sts, turn and work return row. Work 1 row on the first 15 sts, turn and work return row. Work 1 row on the first 20 sts, turn and work return row. Work 1 row on all sts, turn and work return row *, repeat from *-*. Work a total of approx 32 full repeats (piece should form a full circle). K 1 row from RS on all sts. On next row work strap as follows: Work row until 2 sts remain, cast on 15 new sts, K tog the last 2 sts. On next row bind off all sts (also sts on strap). Sew bind off row to cast on row, edge to edge. -------------------------------------------------------- POT HOLDER 2: Worked back and forth on needle. Cast on 23 sts on needle size 2.5 mm / US 1½ with blue. Continue in garter st, i.e. K all rows. AT THE SAME TIME work turns as follows: Work 1 row on all sts, * turn, work return row until 1 st remain, turn and work return row until 2 sts remain, turn and work return row until 3 sts remain, turn and work return row. Continue like this with 1 more st remaining before each turn until return row is worked on only 1 st, turn and work this 1 st, work 2 rows on all sts *, repeat from *-* a total of 6 times – NOTE: In the last repeat only work 1 row on all sts and then bind off. Sew bind off row to cast on row, edge to edge. CROCHET BORDER: Crochet round pot holder with hook size 3 mm / C with blue as follows: 1 sc in first st, * ch 3, 1 sc in the first ch (= 1 picot), skip approx 3 sts, 1 sc *, repeat from *-* round the whole pot holder, and finish with ch 20 (= strap), fasten strap with 1 sl st in pot holder, crochet 1 sl st in each ch around strap, cut and fasten thread. |
