Knitting gauge: 17 sts x 22 rows on needle size 4.5 mm = US 7 with Silke-Alpaca in stockinette sts = 10 x 10 cm = 4" x 4" Garter st back and forth: Knit all rows. Buttonhole: Bind off for buttonhole on right front band. 1 buttonhole = Bind off 3rd and 4th front band sts from edge and cast on 2 new sts over the bind off sts on next row. Bind off for buttonhole when piece measures: Size S: 10, 19, 28, 37, 46 and 55 cm = 4", 7½", 11", 14½", 18" and 21⅝". Size M: 10, 18, 26, 34, 42, 50 and 57 cm = 4", 7", 10¼", 13⅜", 16½", 19¾" and 22½". Size L: 11, 19, 27, 35, 43, 51 and 59 cm = 4⅜", 7½", 10⅝", 13¾", 17", 20" and 23¼". Increasing tip (applies to collar): Inc within the 6 front band sts. YO, on next row K into back of YO (knit into back of sts by knitting into the back part in stead of the front part). Measuring tip: Due to weight of yarn measure piece when held up or it will be too long at completion. Back and front pieces: Knit piece back and forth on circular needles. Cast on 147-159-171-189-213 sts (incl 6 front band sts on each side) on needles size 4 mm = US 6 with Silke-Alpaca. Knit 4 rows garter sts. Change to needle size 4.5 mm = US 7. Knit next row from RS as follows: 6 sts garter sts (= front band), 9 sts stockinette sts, P3, K3, P3, 99-111-123-141-165 sts stockinette sts, P3, K3, P3, 9 sts stockinette sts and 6 sts garter sts (= front band). Continue pattern at the same time as binding off for buttonholes on right front band – see explanation above. When piece measures 15-16-17-18-19 cm = 6"-6¼"-6¾"-7"-7½" change to needle size 4 mm = US 6 and knit next row as follows from RS: 6 sts garter st (= front band), * K3, P3 * repeat from *-* and finish with K3 and 6 sts garter sts (= front band). Complete pieces separately. Back Piece: = 61-67-73-83-95 sts. Bind off for armhole on each side on every other row: 2 sts 0-1-1-2-5 times and 1 st 1-1-2-3-3 times = 59-61-65-67-69 sts. When piece measures 60-62-64-66-68 cm =2 3⅝"-24⅜"-25¼"-26"-26¾" bind off middle 21-23-23-25-25 sts for neckline. Continuing bind off 1 sts on next row at neckline = 18-18-20-20-21 sts left on each shoulder. Bind off when piece measures 62-64-66-68-70 cm = 24⅜"-25¼"-26"-26¾"-27½". Right front piece: = 37-40-43-47-53 sts. Bind off for armhole like back piece. At the same time when piece measures 46-47-48-49-50 cm = 18"-18½"-19"-19¼"-19¾" inc 1 st within 6 front band sts at mid front – read Increasing tip - on every 3 -3.5 -4 -4.5 -5 cm = 1⅛"-1¼"-1½"-1¾"-2" 3 times in total = 39-40-42-43-43 sts – knit new sts and front band in garter sts. NOTE: Remember to bind off for buttonhole. When piece measures 57-59-61-63-65 cm = 22½"-23¼"-24"-24¾"-25½" bind off 15-16-16-17-16 outermost sts mid front for neck and bind off 2 sts to shape neckline on every other row 3 times = 18-18-20-20-21 sts left on shoulder. Bind off when piece measures 62-64-66-68-70 cm = 24⅜"-25¼"-26"-26¾"-27½". Left front piece: Knit like right piece but reversed. Do not bind off for buttonholes. Sleeve: Cast on 38-44-44-50-50 sts (incl 1 edge sts on each side) on needles size 4 mm = US 6 with Silke-Alpaca. Knit 4 rows garter sts. Change to needle size 4.5 mm = US 7 and continue in stockinette sts until piece measures 7 cm = 2¾". Change to needle size 4 mm = US 6 and knit next row as follows: 1 edge st, * K3, P3 * repeat from *-* and finish with 1 edge st. Continue until rib measures 17 cm = 6¾". Change to needle size 4.5 mm = US 7 and knit stockinette sts throughout. At the same time when piece measures 18-18-18-18-20 cm = 7"-7"-7"-7"-8" inc 1 st on each side on every 4 -4.5 -3.5 -3 -2 cm = 1½"-1¾"-1¼"-1⅛"-¾" 8-7-9-10-12 times in total = 54-58-62-70-74 sts. When piece measures 49-49-48-47-46 cm = 19¼"-19¼"-19"-18½"-18" bind off 3 sts on each side to shape sleeve cap. Continuing bind off on every other row as follows: 2 sts 2-2-2-2-2 times, 1 st 2-2-3-5-7 times. Now bind off 2 sts on each side until piece measures 54-54-54-55-56 cm = 21¼"-21¼"-21¼"-21⅝"-22", then bind off 3 sts 1 time on each side. Bind off when piece measures approx 56-56-56-57-58 cm = 22"-22"-22"-22½"-22¾". Assembly: Sew shoulder seams, sleeve seams and then sew in the sleeves. Pick up approx 56-66 sts on needle size 4 mm = US 6 around neckline and knit 4 rows garter st, bind off. Sew buttons on left front piece. |
