How do you separate the front and back piece of this jumper ? It’s a circular design so do you just halve the number of stitches and work on each panel separately? Can you be more specific.
20.09.2020 - 18:16DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Jenkinson, you can add 2 markers on the round: first at the beg of the round + 2nd marker after the half of the stitches, then divide piece by casting off 3 sts before + 3 sts after each of both markers = 6 sts for armholes; Now continue each piece separately. Happy knitting!

Rib: * K1 into back of loop, P1 *, repeat from *-*. Body piece: Worked in the round on circular needle. Cast on 104 sts on needle size 4 mm with Mohair and work 9 cm rib. Change to needle size 6 mm and continue in stocking st, at the same time inc number of sts to 124 evenly on the first round. Inc 1 st each side on every 5th round until piece measures 35 cm. Now cast off 6 sts each side for armhole and complete front and back pieces separately. Front piece: Continue in stocking st, at the same time cast off 3 sts each side to shape the armhole on first row. When piece measures 47 cm continue in pattern – see diagram – with 1 thread Mohair and 1 thread Silk. On the last pattern row cast off the middle 7 sts for neck and complete each side separately in 2 threads Silk and reverse stocking st. Cast off to shape the neckline on every other row: 2 sts 4 times. Now slip remaining sts on shoulder on a stitch holder. Back piece: Continue as described for front piece, but cast off 4 sts 2 times on neckline and slip remaining sts on shoulder on a stitch holder. Note: Back piece is slightly shorter than front piece. Sleeve: Worked in the round on double pointed needles. Cast on 24 sts on needle size 4 mm and work 7 cm rib. Change to needle size 6 mm and continue in stocking st, at the same time inc number of sts to 30 evenly on the first row. Now inc 2 sts mid under sleeve on every 3rd round until sleeve measures 42 cm. Cast off 6 sts mid under arm and complete piece back and forth on needle. Cast off 3 sts each side on every other row 3 times, now work 17 rows without dec and then dec 1 st each side 14 times. Cast off remaining sts. Assembly: Sew shoulder seams (sts from stitch holders). Pick up 66 sts round the neckline on needle size 4 mm with 2 threads Silk and P 1 round, K 1 round, P 1 round, change to Mohair, P 1 round, K 1 round and cast off. Fold edge double towards WS and fasten. Fold armhole edge approx 1 cm towards WS and fasten. Set in sleeves, RS towards RS for 8 cm on either side of mid under arm. Make 3-4 pleats on shoulder. In order to make the sleeves sit nicely, sew the remainder of the sleeve to body piece 4-5 cm from folding edge at the top and gradually work outwards the seam at the bottom of armhole – see diagram. |
