Bon tricot!

I´m knitting the neck warmer. It says cast on 41, then bind off 15 for the neck. After that you continue each shoulder separately if you have 41 then you bind off 15 you don´t have 15 you have 13 sts on ea side. Then you continue dec sts for the neck. THat is my question should it read 15 or 13 sts. Thank you so much for you help
25.10.2014 - 14:51DROPS Design answered:
Dear Idalia, you are correct, you cast-off the 15 middle sts for neck, 13 sts remain for each shoulder - pattern will be edited asap. Thank you. Happy knitting!

Could I use circular needles?
09.10.2014 - 03:59DROPS Design answered:
Dear Tamy, you can use circular needle but since there are not enough sts to work around on circular needle you may rather use the magic loop technnique. Happy knitting!

Knitted DROPS Hat and neck warmer in Alaska
DROPS Children 12-25 |
|
HAT: Knitting gauge: 17 sts x 22 rows on needles size 5 mm / US 8 in stockinette sts = 10 x 10 cm / 4'' x 4''. Rib: *K1, P1*, repeat from *-*. Cast on 78-84-90 sts on double pointe needles size 5 mm / US 8 with Alaska. Join and work 3 cm / 1 1/8'' in Rib. Next round work K1, P5 (make sure the K1 is above the K1 in Rib). Continue like this. When piece measures 13.5-15.5-17.5 cm / 5 1/4"-6 1/4"-7" on next round dec all P5 to P4 = 65-70-75 sts. Work 2 rounds, on next round dec all P4 to P3 = 52-56-60 sts, work 2 rounds, on next round dec all P3 to P2 = 39-42-45 sts, work 2 rounds, on next round dec all P2 to P1 = 26-28-30 sts. Work 2 rounds and then K2 tog around = 13-14-15 sts left. Cut the yarn and pull the end through the remaining sts, pull tight and fasten. The hat now measures 19-21-23 cm / 7½"-8 1/4"-9". ------------------------------------------------------------------ NECK WARMER: Knitting gauge: 17 sts x 22 rows on needles size 5 mm / US 8 in stockinette sts = 10 x 10 cm / 4'' x 4''. Rib: *K1, P1*, repeat from *-*. Garter sts (back and forth on needle): Knit all rows. Neck warmer: Begin at the bottom of the front piece and bind off at the bottom of the back piece, and collar at the end. Front piece: Cast on 38-41-44 sts on needles size.5 mm with Alaska and knit 4 rows garter sts. Continue in stockinette sts with 2 sts each side in garter sts. Remember your knitting gauge! When the piece measures 7-9-10 cm / 2 3/4"-3½"-4" bind off the middle 12-15-16 sts for neck. Work each shoulder piece separately. 1st shoulder piece: = 13-13-14 sts. Continue in stockinette sts and 2 sts each side in garter sts – at the same time bind off to shape the neckline on every other row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 1 time and 1 st 2 times = 6-6-7 sts. When the piece measures 11-13-15 cm / 4½"-5 1/8"-6" insert a marker (= the middle of the shoulder) – continue to measure from this point. On the next row cast on 2 new sts towards the neck side and then put all sts on a holder. 2nd shoulder piece: Work as 1st shoulder piece. Back piece: Put sts from one of the shoulder pieces back on needle, cast on 22-25-26 sts and put sts from the other shoulder piece on the same needle = 38-41-44 sts. Continue in stockinette sts with 2 sts each side in garter sts. When the piece measures 10-12-14 cm / 4"-4 3/4"-5½" from shoulder knit 4 rows garter sts and then bind off. Collar: Pick up approx 60-70 round the neck on double pointed needles size 5 mm / US 8. Purl 1 round, knit 1 round and continue in Rib. Cast of in Rib when neck measures 7-8-9 cm / 2 3/4"-3"-3½". |
