I love this hat and crocheted it about two years ago. This year, I would like to make it to fit my head which is about 23" in diameter. What is the easiest way to enlarge this hat pattern?
22.10.2014 - 04:59DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Washington, you can adjust by decreasing less sts - try it on regularly to check width - remember to make it a bit tighter than your head so that the hat can fit your head without slipping. Happy crocheting!

I followed the instructions exactly, but the bottom part of the hat looks different from the picture. In the picture it looks like it was also crotched with double strands and not hdc. Or am I missing something? Thanks in advance
07.02.2014 - 20:10DROPS Design answered:
Dear Elfi, the whole hat is worked while crocheting only back loop on all rounds, until the end (the 3 sc rows included); Brim is then worked with double strands. Happy crocheting!

When working on the cap do you work with two strands or do you only use two strands on the brim? I don't have an L or and M hook so I am using a K.
27.11.2013 - 22:22DROPS Design answered:
Dear Alex, cap is crocheted on basis of a gauge of 8 hdc = approx. 4" in width with 1 thread Eskimo. Check your tension first to know which crochet hook would be necessary. Happy crocheting!

04.10.2013 - 21:48DROPS Design answered:
Dear Janet, did you get and keep all the way the tension of 8 htr = 10 cm ? The hat should measure approx. 50 cm around. Happy crocheting!

Zdravim, Tuto ciapku by som chcela uhackovat s priadze Bomull-Lin, kolko klbiek budem potrebovat?
05.02.2013 - 13:26DROPS Design answered:
Milá Katko, příze Bomull-Lin by byla potřeba cca 4 klubka - musíte háčkovat dvojitou přízí. Nicméně ještě bych zvážila použití nějaké pružnější příze, např. Paris. Hodně zdaru!

Crochet gauge: 8 hdc = approx. 10 cm / 4" in width. Crochet tips: Replace the first hdc of every row with ch 2. Every row finishes with 1 sl st in 2nd ch at start of row. Decreasing tips: Dec 1 hdc by crocheting together 2 hdc as follows: crochet 1 hdc, but do not pull the last loop through, leave it on hook (= 3 loops on hook), crochet the next hdc and pull last loop through all loops on hook. CAP Ch 4 and join into a ring with 1 sl st in 1st ch. Round 1: 8 hdc in ring Round 2: 2 hdc in each hdc from previous row – crochet through only the back loop on all rows so a ridge forms = 16 hdc. Round 3: * 1 hdc in first hdc, 2 hdc in the next hdc *, repeat * - * around = 24 hdc. Round 4: * 1 hdc in each of the next 2 hdc, 2 hdc in the next hdc *, repeat * - * = 32 hdc Round 5: * 1 hdc in each of the next 3 hdc, 2 hdc in the next hdc *, repeat * - * = 40 hdc Round 6: * 1 hdc in each of the next 4 hdc, 2 hdc in the next hdc *, repeat * - * = 48 hdc Round 7: * 1 hdc in each of the next 5 hdc, 2 hdc in the next hdc *, repeat * - * = 56 hdc Round 8: * 1 hdc in each of the next 6 hdc, 2 hdc in the next hdc *, repeat * - * = 64 hdc Rounds 9-12: 1 hdc in each hdc = 64 hdc. Round 13: * 6 hdc, then crochet the 7th and 8th hdc together (see decreasing tips above) *, repeat * - * = 56 hdc. Round 14: * 5 hdc, then crochet the 6th and 7th hdc together *, repeat * - * = 48 hdc. Round 15: * 4 hdc, then crochet the 5th and 6th hdc together *, repeat * - * = 40 hdc. Rounds 16-18: 1 sc in each hdc = 40 sc. Brim: Crochet brim with double strands along the center 18 sts at front as follows: Round 1: 1 hdc in each st = 18 hdc. Rounds 2: turn the work, ch 2, crochet together the next 2 hdc (see instructions above), 1 hdc in each hdc to last 2 hdc, crochet these together = 16 hdc. Round 3: turn the work, ch 2, crochet together the next 2 hdc, 1 hdc in each hdc to last 2 hdc, crochet these together = 14 hdc. Round 4: turn the work, ch 2, crochet together the next 2 hdc, 1 hdc in each hdc to last 2 hdc, crochet these together = 12 hdc. Round 5: 1 row sc around edge of cap and brim (1 sc in each st). Decorative stripes: Place a marker at each side of cap in the 16th row. 1 sl st in the st with the marker, make sl st approx. 1 - 1.5 cm long, 1 sl st in row 15, make sl st approx. 1 - 1.5 cm long, 1 sl st in row 14 – continue in this manner up to top of cap and down the other side. Make second stripe. Cut yarn and fasten. ____________________________________________________________________ SCARF: Measurements: approx. 15 x 80 cm [5-⅞" x 31.5"] Materials: DROPS Puddel from Garnstudio 100 gr nr 03, brown DROPS 7 mm [US 10½] needles, or size needed to obtain correct gauge. Gauge: 10 sts x 14 rows in stockinette st = 10 x 10 cm. Scarf: Cast on 15 sts around 2 needles (so that the edge will be elastic). Pull out one needle and K 1 row (wrong side row). Then knit stockinette st until the piece measures approx. 79 cm. K 1 row (wrong side row) and bind off loosely. |
