Bon tricot!

---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- INCREASE TIP: To calculate how to increase evenly, use the total number of stitches on row (e.g. 86 stitches) and divide stitches by number of increases to be done (e.g. 10) = 8.6. In this example increase as explained below in alternately approx. every 8th and 9th stitch. This symmetrical increase gives 1 new stitch. Follow point 1-4 below: 1. Hold the yarn behind the piece. Pass the first stitch on left needle loosely on to right needle purlwise. 2. Insert left needle behind the slipped stitch and in between the slipped stitch and the first stitch on right needle. 3. Make a yarn over with yarn around right needle and pull yarn over through stitch to get 1 new stitch on right needle. 4. Pass the outermost part of stitch off left needle and then knit the other strand of stitch through stitch loop in front of needle. 1 stitch has been increased. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Choose diagram for correct size. SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Work yoke in the round on circular needle from right shoulder at the back and work top down. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards in the round on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. Finish by picking up stitches around the neck and bind off with I-cord. YOKE: Cast on 86-88-90-94-100-102-108 stitches on circular needle size 3 MM = US 2.5 with DROPS Air. Knit 1 round. Beginning of round is at right shoulder at the back. Insert 1 marker after the first 28-29-30-31-33-34-36 stitches on round (= approx. mid front), measure piece from this marker. Work 2 rounds in stockinette stitch. Switch to circular needle size 4.5 MM = US 7 and continue with stockinette stitch in the round while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 10-12-14-16-20-24-26 stitches evenly on 1st round - read INCREASE TIP = 96-100-104-110-120-126-134 stitches. Remember to follow the knitting gauge! When piece measures 4-4-4-4-4-4-5 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-1½"-1½"-1½"-2" from marker, increase 29-30-31-35-40-44-46 stitches evenly – remember INCREASE TIP = 125-130-135-145-160-170-180 stitches. When piece measures 5-5-5-6-6-6-7 cm = 2"-2"-2"-2⅜"-2⅜"-2⅜"-2¾" from marker, work PATTERN - read explanation above, i.e. work A.1 25-26-27-29-32-34-36 times in total in the round on yoke. Continue pattern and increase as shown in diagram. When A.1 has been worked vertically, there are 250-260-270-290-320-340-360 stitches on row and piece measures approx. 18-18-20-21-21-23-24 cm = 7"-7"-8"-8¼"-8¼"-9"-9½" from marker. Continue in stockinette stitch - AT THE SAME TIME when 1 cm = ⅜" with stockinette stitch has been worked after A.1, increase 2-8-6-10-16-12-12 stitches evenly – remember INCREASE TIP = 252-268-276-300-336-352-372 stitches. Work until yoke measures 20-21-23-24-24-26-28 cm = 8"-8¼"-9"-9½"-9½"-10¼"-11" from marker. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: AT THE SAME TIME as next round is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Slip the 50-52-52-58-66-66-68 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 8-10-12-14-14-16-18 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 76-82-86-92-102-110-118 stitches (= front piece), slip the next 50-52-52-58-66-66-68 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 8-10-12-14-14-16-18 new stitches on needle (= in the side mid under sleeve), and work in stockinette stitch over the last 76-82-86-92-102-110-118 stitches (= back piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 168-184-196-212-232-252-272 stitches. Insert 1 marker in one side of piece (= in the middle of the 8-10-12-14-14-16-18 stitches that were cast on under sleeve). Work until marker, round begins here and work in the round. Work stockinette stitch until piece measures 42-44-46-48-48-50-52 cm = 16½"-17¼"-18"-19"-19"-19¾"-20½" from marker mid front. Switch to circular needle size 3 MM = US 2.5, work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 30-30-30-36-36-42-48 stitches evenly on 1st round - remember INCREASE TIP = 198-214-226-248-268-294-320 stitches. When rib measures 5-5-5-5-6-6-6 cm = 2"-2"-2"-2"-2⅜"-2⅜"-2⅜", bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl, or bind off with Italian bind-off. Sweater measures 47-49-51-53-54-56-58 cm = 18½"-19¼"-20"-21"-21¼"-22"-22¾" from cast-on edge mid front and approx. 52-54-56-58-60-62-64 cm = 20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼" from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 50-52-52-58-66-66-68 sleeve stitches from one thread on to circular needle size 4.5 MM = US 7 and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 8-10-12-14-14-16-18 stitches cast on under sleeve - read SLEEVE TIP = 58-62-64-72-80-82-86 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 8-10-12-14-14-16-18 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. Work in stockinette stitch in the round on needle - AT THE SAME TIME when 1 round has been worked after division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches 2-2-2-2-3-3-3 times on every other round, then decrease 2 stitches 2-2-1-3-5-4-4 times every 2 cm = ¾" = 50-54-58-62-64-68-72 stitches on needle. Work until sleeve measures 41-41-39-39-39-38-36 cm = 16⅛"-16⅛"-15¼"-15¼"-15¼"-15"-14¼" from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 3 MM = US 2.5 and work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 8-10-10-10-12-12-12 stitches evenly on 1st round = 58-64-68-72-76-80-84 stitches. When rib measures 5-5-5-5-6-6-6 cm = 2"-2"-2"-2"-2⅜"-2⅜"-2⅜", bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl or bind off with Italian bind-off. Sleeve measures approx. 46-46-44-44-45-44-42 cm = 18"-18"-17¼"-17¼"-17¾"-17¼"-16½" from division. NECK EDGE WITH I-CORD BIND-OFF: Use circular needle size 3 MM = US 2.5 and pick up 86-88-90-94-100-102-108 stitches around the neck inside cast-on edge (make sure that the cast-on edge is not visible). Cut the yarn. BEGINNING (= right side): Cast on 3 stitches on right needle. Slip the 3 new stitches from right needle to left needle - working yarn is 3 stitches in on left needle (the working yarn tightens the piece when working to form a little tube). ROW 1 (= right side): Knit 2, knit the next 2 stitches twisted together. Slip the 3 stitches from right needle back on left needle. Do not turn piece. Repeat 1st ROW until 3 stitches remain (make sure to avoid a tight or too loose I-cord). Slip the 3 stitches from right needle back on left needle. Bind off. Sew a little stitch that binds beginning/end of I-cord together. |
