------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- CHAIN STITCH: If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 single/double crochet is wide. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1, A.2 and A.3. CROCHET INFORMATION: At the beginning of each row/round of double crochets work 3 chain stitches, which do not replace the first double crochet. At the beginning of each row/round of single crochets work 1 chain stitch, which does not replace the first single crochet. When working in the round, turn after each round, working alternately from the right and wrong side. This gives you the same texture as when working back and forth. Start the round with 3 chain stitches and finish with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch at the beginning of the round. INCREASE TIP: When increasing 1 double crochet, work 2 double crochets in 1 stitch (increase inside 1 stitch on each side). When increasing 2 double crochets, work 2 double crochets in each of the next 2 stitches (increase inside 1 stitch on each side). DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 double crochet by working 2 double crochets together:. Work 1 double crochet in the first stitch but wait with the last yarn over and pull through (2 loops on hook), work 1 double crochet in next stitch/around chain stitch and pull the last yarn over through all 3 loops on the hook (1 stitch decreased). -------------------------------------------------------- DRESS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Each shoulder is worked separately back and forth, top down. The piece is joined at the armholes and continued in the round, turning after each round so the texture matches the texture worked back and forth. FRONT PIECE: Right shoulder: Work 20-21-21-22-22-23 CHAIN STITCHES – see description above, work 1 double crochet in the 4th chain stitch, then 1 double crochet in each of the next 16-17-17-18-18-19 chain stitches = 17-18-18-19-19-20 double crochets and 3 chain stitches to turn. Continue with double crochets back and forth – read CROCHET INFORMATION. REMEMBER THE CROCHET GAUGE! When the piece measures 10-10-10-10-12-12 cm = 4"-4"-4"-4"-4¾"-4¾" (finishing after a row from the right side), cut the strand and lay the piece to one side. Left shoulder: Work 20-21-21-22-22-23 chain stitches, work 1 double crochet in the 4th chain stitch, then 1 double crochet in each of the next 16-17-17-18-18-19 chain stitches = 17-18-18-19-19-20 double crochets and 3 chain stitches to turn. Continue with double crochets back and forth. When the piece measures 10-10-10-10-12-12 cm = 4"-4"-4"-4"-4¾"-4¾" work the next row from the wrong side as follows: Work 1 double crochet in each of the 17-18-18-19-19-20 stitches on the left shoulder, work 28-28-30-30-32-34 chain stitches (neck), work 1 double crochet in each of the 17-18-18-19-19-20 stitches on the right shoulder. You have 62-64-66-68-70-74 stitches. Continue with double crochets back and forth and on the first row begin to increase on each side for the armholes – read INCREASE TIP. Increase 1 double crochet 3-4-4-4-0-0 times, then 2 double crochets 2-3-4-5-9-10 times = 76-84-90-96-106-114 stitches. When the increases are finished, the piece measures approx. 17-19-21-22-23-24 cm = 6¾"-7½"-8¼"-8¾"-9"-9½". Continue if necessary with double crochets to correct length. Finish after a row from the wrong side. Lay the piece to one side. BACK PIECE: Left shoulder: Work 20-21-21-22-22-23 chain stitches, work 1 double crochet in the 4th chain stitch, then 1 double crochet in each of the next 16-17-17-18-18-19 chain stitches = 17-18-18-19-19-20 double crochets and 3 chain stitches to turn. Continue with double crochets back and forth. When the piece measures 3 cm = 1⅛" (finishing after a row from the right side), cut the strand and lay the piece to one side. Right shoulder: Work 20-21-21-22-22-23 chain stitches, work 1 double crochet in the 4th chain stitch, then 1 double crochet in each of the next 16-17-17-18-18-19 chain stitches = 17-18-18-19-19-20 double crochets and 3 chain stitches to turn. Continue with double crochets back and forth. When the piece measures 3 cm = 1⅛", work the next row from the wrong side as follows: Work 1 double crochet in each of the 17-18-18-19-19-20 stitches on the right shoulder, work 28-28-30-30-32-32 chain stitches (neck), work 1 double crochet in each of the 17-18-18-19-19-20 stitches on the left shoulder. You have 62-64-66-68-70-74 stitches. Continue with double crochets back and forth. When the piece measures 11-11-11-11-13-13 cm = 4⅜"-4⅜"-4⅜"-4⅜"-5⅛"-5⅛", start to increase on each side for the armholes – remember INCREASE TIP. Increase 1 double crochet 3-4-4-4-0-0 times, then increase 2 double crochets 2-3-4-5-9-10 times = 76-84-90-96-106-114 stitches. When the increases are finished, the piece measures approx. 17-19-21-22-23-24 cm = 6¾"-7½"-8¼"-8¾"-9"-9½". Continue if necessary with double crochets to correct length. Finish after a row from the wrong side. Work as follows from the right side: Work double crochets over the back piece, work 6-6-8-10-12-14 chain stitches then double crochets over the front piece and work 6-6-8-10-12-14 chain stitches, join piece together with 1 slip stitch in the 3rd chain stitch from beginning of the back piece, join piece together with 1 slip stitch in the 3 rd chain stitch from beginning of the back piece = 164-180-196-212-236-256 stitches. The piece is now measured from here! Turn and work 1 slip stitch in each of the first 3-3-4-5-6-7 chain stitches, the round starts here. Continue in the round, working 1 double crochet in each double crochet and each chain stitch – read CROCHET INFORMATION. Insert 1 marker-thread in the middle of the 6-6-8-10-12-14 new stitches in each side. When the piece measures 4 cm = 1½", decrease 1 stitch on each side of both marker-threads (4 stitches decreased) – read DECREASE TIP. Repeat this decrease when the piece measures 6 and 8 cm = 2⅜" and 3⅛" = 152-168-184-200-224-244 stitches. When the piece measures 10 cm = 4", decrease 8-12-12-12-12-12 stitches evenly on the round = 144-156-172-188-212-232 stitches. Work A.1 over all stitches. When A.1 is finished, the piece measures approx. 23 cm = 9". Continue with double crochets. When the piece measures 25 cm = 9¾", increase 8 stitches evenly on the round by working 2 double crochets in 1 double crochet. Increase like this every 3 cm = 1⅛" 8 times. NOTE! Make sure the increases are not in the same place = 208-220-236-252-276-296 stitches. When the piece measures 51-52-53-55-57-58 cm = 20"-20½"-21"-21⅝"-22½"-22¾", work A.2 over all stitches. When A.2 is finished, work 1 round of double crochets and increase 8-5-7-9-3-1 stitches evenly spaced = 216-225-243-261-279-297 stitches. Work A.3 over all stitches. When A.3 is finished, cut and fasten the strand. The piece measures approx. 68-69-70-72-74-75 cm = 26¾"-27⅛"-27½"-28⅜"-29⅛"-29½" from where the piece was joined and 85-88-91-94-97-99 cm = 33½"-34⅝"-35¾"-37"-38¼"-39" from the shoulder. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams edge to edge so the seam is flat. EDGE: Work an edge around the neck and armholes with hook size 4 MM = US 6: 1 single crochet in the first stitch, * 3 chain stitches, 1 double crochet in the 3rd chain stitch from the hook, skip 1 cm = ⅜", 1 single crochet in the next stitch*, work from *-* to the end of the round, finish with 1 slip stitch in the first single crochet at the beginning of the round. |
