---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (back and forth): 1 ridge = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- SLIPPER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work leg in the round on double pointed needles, top down. Work foot back and forth. LEG: Cast on 42-45-51-51 (57-57) stitches on double pointed needles size 2.5 MM = US 1.5 with DROPS Baby Merino. * Make 1 yarn over, slip 1 stitch purlwise, purl 2 together (= 1 stitch decreased) *, work from *-* over all stitches = 28-30-34-34 (38-38) stitches. Work pattern A.1 in the round. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When piece measures 4-5-5-5 (6-6) cm = 1½"-2"-2"-2" (2⅜"-2⅜"), continue as follows: Knit 1 round - knit yarn overs together with stitch they belong to, and increase 2-4-4-4 (4-4) stitches evenly = 30-34-38-38 (42-42) stitches. On next round work an eyelet row as follows: Knit 1, * knit 2 together, 1 yarn over *, work from *-* until 1 stitch remains on needle and finish with knit 1. Knit 1 round. Now work back and forth. Work 3 ridges in GARTER STITCH - read explanation above. Cut the yarn. FOOT: Now slip the first 11-12-13-13 (15-15) stitches and the last 11-12-13-13 (15-15) stitches on a thread = 8-10-12-12 (12-12) stitches on needle. Work 3½-4-4½-6 (7-9) cm = 1¼"-1½"-1⅝"-2⅜" (2¾"-3½") in garter stitch back and forth over the 8-10-12-12 (12-12) stitches – adjust so that last row is worked from wrong side. Cut the yarn. Work next row as follows from right side: Knit over stitches from thread in one side, pick up 9-10-11-13 (16-21) stitches along the side on middle piece, knit the 8-10-12-12 (12-12) stitches on needle (front), pick up 9-10-11-13 (16-21) stitches along the other side on middle piece and knit over the stitches from last thread = 48-54-60-64 (74-84) stitches on needle. Work 3-3-4-5 (5-5) cm = 1⅛"-1⅛"-1½"-2" (2"-2") in garter stitch back and forth over all stitches. AT THE SAME TIME after 1½-1½-2-3 (3-3) cm = ½"-½"-¾"-1⅛" (1⅛"-1⅛") decrease on every other row (i.e. on every row from right side) as follows until finished measurements: Decrease 1 stitch at the beginning and end of row by knitting 2 together inside 1 edge stitch. Knit in addition 2 together on each side of the 2 middle stitches on needle (4 stitches in total decreased on every other row) = approx. 32-38-40-44 (54-64) stitches remain on needle. Bind off, sew together mid under foot and continue up along mid back – sew in outer loops of edge stitches to avoid a chunky seam. Knit another slipper the same way. TIES: Work ties as follows: Work chain stitches on hook size 2.5 MM = US 1.5 for approx. 30-40 cm = 11¾"-15¾", turn and work 1 slip stitch in every chain stitch. Cut and fasten the yarn. Baste the tie up and down through eyelet row on slipper (start and finish mid front on slipper). Work 1 tie for each slipper. |
