Decrease - P2 sts tog twisted

When the pattern tells you to "P2 tog twisted", this is how you do it. First lift the 2 sts over to the right needle and then twist them and put them back on left needle one by one. Then purl the 2 sts together through the back loops. As you can see this makes it look exactly like it does from the other side when you make "slip 1, K1, psso", which is good when you i.e. are making a raglan dec on both RS and WS rows.

How to decrease, start 3 stitches before a marker / marker thread

In this DROPS video we show how to decrease under a sleeve, start 3 stitches before a marker / marker thread. Decrease like this: Work until 3 stitches remain before the marker / marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker / marker thread is between these stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked. Repeat these decrease the number of times that it is written in the pattern / your size. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in this video.

How to purl 2 stitches together in a rib

In this DROPS video we show how to purl 2 stitches together in a rib where we start the rib with knit 2, purl 3. Work a rib like this: knit 2, purl 3 to the measurement in the pattern, then decrease the 3 purl stitches to 2 stitches. We then get a rib with knit 2, purl 2. When you dec 2 sts you can K 3 tog. In our video we K 3 tog in the front loops - the dec will lean to the right. Then we K 3 twisted tog and then we knit them together into the back loops and the dec will lean to the left.

How to decrease towards left, right and how to decrease 4 stitches together

In this DROPS video we show how we decrease 2 stitches towards left, 2 stitches towards right and how do decrease 4 stitches together. These techniques are used in the Lacey Laurel shawl in DROPS 203-14. We have already worked 30 rows of a chart with 2 stitches in garter st in each side and show 1st row in this video how we decrease 2 stitches towards the left as follows: Slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit the next 2 stitches together and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted together stitches (= 2 stitches decreased). Then knit 1, knit 1 in stitch under the next stitch. 1 knit. Then we show how to decrease 2 stitches towards the right as follows: Knit 3 stitches together (= 2 stitches decreased). On row 35 we decrease 4 stitches as follows: Slip 3 stitches as if to knit them together, knit the next 2 stitches together and pass the 3 slipped stitches over the knitted together stitches (= 4 stitches decreased). Under the pattern DROPS 203-14 you can read how to work the other chart icons. This shawl is knitted in DROPS Alpaca, but in the video we use a thicker yarn; DROPS Snow. Bind off and decrease at the same time

When you work cables you add more sts than if you would be working in stockinette. The cables are pulling the piece together. When you bind off above a cable it is a good idea to decrease the cable sts at the same time as you bind off. Otherwise the bind off edge will make for example the neck or shoulders wider than supposed to be. In this video we decrease 4 sts - by K2 tog twice above each cable - at the same time as we bind off following the pattern. How to knit from corner to corner

In this DROPS video we show you how to knit from corner to corner by increasing and decreasing (eg for a blanket or kitchen cloth). We show how to increase on both sides in the beginning (1st part), then we show decrease and increase to keep the same number of stitches in the middle piece (2nd part) and then the decrease on both sides at the end (3rd part). How to work wave pattern after charts

In this DROPS video we show how to work after chart A.1 and A.2 to the Good Night Baby blanket in DROPS Baby 33-4. We work 2 rapports after the charts and we have already casted up 42 stitches + 3 edge stiches in each side (= 48 stitches). In this video we cast on 40 sts with Snow, K2 rows. Then: Row 1: work this row with dec as a start off for the zigzag pattern; in the center of each repeat dec by slip 1 st as if to K, K 1, psso and then K2 tog as shown in the chart on the pattern. Row 2 (WS): P all sts Row 3 (RS): dec as on row 1, in addition inc 1 st each side of each pattern repeat by K2 in 1 st. Repeat row 2 and 3.

Knit 5 sts in the same st as follows: knit 1, yarn over needle, knit 1, yarn over needle, knit 1, turn the piece, knit 5 rows of stockinette sts over these 5 sts. Now lift 2nd st on right needle over 1st st, 3rd st over 1st st, 4th st over 1st st and 5th st over 1st st = 1 st left.
