How to work an easy textured pattern.

In this DROPS video we show how to work an easy beautiful textured pattern with 6 rows that repeats. We have already casted on 28 stitches with 3 ridge/garter stitches (= knit in each row) in each side and worked 1 row in ridge/garter stitch (= knit 2 rows). Row 1: Knit 3 (= ridge/garter stitch), * purl 2, knit 3 *, repeat *-* and finish with purl 2, knit 3 (ridge/garter stitch). Row 2: Knit 3, now knit above knit, purl above purl, finish with knit 3. Row 3: Knit like row 1. Row 4: Knit like row 2. Row 5: Knit 3, * purl 2, slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 2 together, pass slipped stitch over stitches worked, yarn over *, repeat *-* until 5 stitches left, purl 2, knit 3. Row 6: Knit 3, now knit above knit, purl above purl (purl yarn over twisted to avoid hole), finish with knit 3. Repeat row 1-6 to desirer length. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video, the goldenrod sample is worked in DROPS Lima.

In this DROPS video we show you how to knit a lace pattern. We cast on 26 stitches and knit the chart with 2 edge stitch in each side (22+4). In this DROPS video we show you how to knit a cable pattern. We cast on 28 stitches and knit the chart with 1 edge stitch in stockinette stitch in each side (26+2). How to knit a lace pattern with little trees

In this DROPS video we show you how to knit lace pattern with little trees. We cast on 40 stitches and knit the chart with 2 edge stitch in each side (36+4). We have already worked the first 8 rows of the chart and we show you the last 8, so that you easier can see the pattern. How to work a lace pattern with increases and decreases to make a little knot

In this DROPS video we show how to work after chart with increases and decreases to make a little knot. This chart is used in the vest «Raspberry Rose» in DROPS 218-17 and the sweater «Raspberry Rose Sweater» in DROPS 218-18. We work 3 garter stitches on each side and mark the 3 icons that makes the knot in purple. Icon 1: Work in the stitch below the next stitch as follows: knit 1, 1 yarn over, knit 1 (= 2 stitches increased). Icon 2: 3 Work stitches in stockinette stitch. Icon 3: Work like this: slip 2 stitches as if to knit together, knit 1 and pass the 2 slipped stitches over the knitted stitch (= 2 stitches decreased). The vest and sweater are knitted in DROPS Alpaca, but in the video we use a thicker yarn; DROPS Snow. You must read the pattern and look at the charts to be able to follow this video properly. How to work 4 different chart icons

In this DROPS video we show how to work 4 different chart icons. We mark the icons pink before knitting/purling. We work 2 stitches in each side in garter stitch. In some patterns, there may be other charts and similar chart icons, but the technique is almost the same. Chart icon 1: Knit 3 together (= 2 stitches decreased). Chart icon 2: Between 2 stitches make 2 yarn overs; on the next row (wrong side) purl the first yarn over twisted (i.e. the yarn over towards the middle of the diagram); the second yarn over is purled (i.e. the yarn over towards the side) (= 2 stitches increased). Chart icon 3: between 2 stitches make 2 yarn overs; on the next row (wrong side) purl the first yarn over (i.e. the yarn over towards the side), the second yarn over is purled twisted (i.e. yarn over towards the middle of the diagram) (= 2 stitches increased). Chart icon 4: Slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 2 together and pass the slipped stitch over (= 2 stitches decreased). We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video. Chart A.2 in DROPS 170-32 and DROPS 170-8

In this DROPS video we show how to work the lace pattern after chart A.2 for the top in DROPS 170-32 and the jumper in DROPS 170-8. In this video we have already worked a mini-top in stocking st with 2 st in garter st in each side. The chart is worked back and forth. Braided edge

In this DROPS video we show you how to work a braided edge. A braided edge is worked best in the round. We first cast on an even number of stitches with 2 different colors. And then we remove the loop from the beginning of the needle and place a marker before we knit the first round. We knit the colors alternately. The next two rounds are purled and remember to work the stitches in the same color as the round below. When you purl the first round put your working yarn to the right up and over the needle, and when you purl the second round put the working yarn down to the left.

Latvian braid

In this DROPS video we show how to work a Latvian braid. We have already worked 1 Latvian braid in the video. LATVIAN BRAID: Braid consists of 3 rounds , worked as follows (color 1 = green, color 2 = old pink ): ROUND 1: * K 1 with color 1, K 1 with color 2 *, repeat from *-* the entire round. ROUND 2: Place both strands in the front of piece (towards you). Then move color 1 strand to the back, P 1 and move the strand to the front again. Pull color 2 strand underneath color 1 strand and then move color 2 to the back, P 1 and move the strand to the front again. Continue like this with P alternately with color 1 and color 2 but always place the strand underneath the strand from the last st worked. ROUND 3: Work as 2nd round but now place strand always OVER strand from the last st worked. REMEMBER - you will also need to read the pattern to be able to follow. Braid horizontal solid colored

aka Lateral braid, aka Estonian Vikkel braid Working a horizontal braid creates a line of horizontally-aligned knit stitches. You can do single or multicolored Vikkel braid. This video is showing a single colored braid. Start by casting on a new stitch before the first stitch. *Knit into the back of the 2nd stitch. Then knit into the 1st stitch. Drop both stitches off the left needle. Slip the first stitch on right needle back onto the left needle*. Repeat *-* until last st on row. K last st, and pass next to last st over.

How to bind off with i-cord binding off.

In this DROPS video we show how to bind off with i-cord binding off that is for example, used in the shawl in DROPS 190-15. Work and bind off as follows: * Knit 2 stitches, the next 2 stitches are knitted twisted together. Push the 3 stitches from the right needle back onto the left needle (in the same order) *, repeat from *-* until all stitches on the left needle have been cast off and there are 3 stitches left on the right needle. Push the stitches onto the left needle and bind them off with knit. This shawl is crocheted in DROPS Flora, but in the video we work with a thicker yarn; DROPS Snow. How to work an I-Cord edging

In this DROPS video we show how we work an I-Cord edging in a piece in garter stitch, an I-Cord is a knitted tube. We have chosen to have 3 edge stitches on each side that will form the I-Cord edge. On each row, lift the 3 first stitches over to the right needle as if they should have been purl and purl the 3 last stitches on each row. Work like this: * Lift 3 stitches to the right needle as if they should have been purl, tighten the thread a little, knit the row until 3 stitches remain, purl these stitches, turn piece * repeat from * - *. You have to work a few cm and pull a little in the edge before you see the best result. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video.

How to work an I-cord edge while binding off.

In this DROPS video we show how we work an I-cord edge while we're binding off. Cast on 4 new stitches on right needle from WS, turn piece. Use another knitting needle if you wish. * Knit 3 stitches, the next 2 stitches are knitted twisted together. Put these 4 stitches back to the left needle *. Repeat from *-* the entire round and bind off. Sew together cast on and bind off edge. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video.

How to work an I-cord edge with 2 stitches

In this DROPS video we show how to work 2 I-cord edge stitches in each side, and at the same time increase in one of the sides. The same 2 edge stitches can be used in garments without increases. For example edges to a jacket. EDGE STITCHES: At the beginning of each row work 2 edge stitches as follows: Slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the strand in front, knit 1. At the end of each row work 2 edge stitches as follows: Work until there are 2 stitches left on the row, slip 1 stitch purl-wise with the strand in front, knit 1. Hem - knitted w/picot along the edge

Many of our designs uses this pretty and feminine hem/edge. You work an eyelet row and this row is then where we do the fold and from where all length measures in pattern are measured. So knit a couple of cm/ an inch in stockinette st then work a row from RS like this; *K2 tog, 1 yo*, repeat *-* to end of row. Continue in stockinette or what patterns tells. Afterward fold the bottom edge to inside and sew with neat sts.

How to work an easy picot edge

In this DROPS video we show how to work an easy picot edge. We work back and forth, but you can also work it in the round. Work like this on row 1: * Knit 7 stitches, slip 2nd stitch on right needle over outermost stitch on right needle (over the last stitch worked), pass next stitch on right needle over outermost stitch on right needle (2 stitches decreased = 1 arch) *, work from *-* the entire row. How to knit picot edge, both on the right and left side

In this DROPS video we show you how to knit the picot edge, both in the right and the left side used in DROPS Children 28-7. Wave edge – knitted

When working top down so that you end your piece at the edge, then you can end with a romantic ruffled wave edge, also a nice addition when working shawls from center and out. In this DROPS Video we show how to do so. When you have reached desired measure work like this: * K 1, 1 YO, repeat from * across, end row with K 1. Repeat this row one more time. Bind off. How to knit a fan edge

In this DROPS video we show you how to knit a fan edge with the help of a crochet hook. If you need 20 stitches you have to make 5 fans (1 fan = 4 stitches). * Cast on 10 stitches on both a knitting needle and a crochet hook, (remember to have enough thread to cast on with). Make a yarn over the crochet hook, pull the yarn through the 10 stitches, pick up 1st stitch with the crochet hook and pull it through the loop on the crochet hook, tighten the thread, pick up the 10th stitches with the crochet hook, pull out the knitting needle and put the 2 stitches from crochet hook to the knitting needle * (= 1 fan). Repeat from * - * until you have half the number of stitches you want. Turn and cast on 2 new stitches between the 2 stitches in each fan on the 1st row from WS. Start knitting stockinette stitch. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video.

How to work a flounce edge after chart

How to work a folding edge together

In this DROPS video we show how to work a folding edge together, like the one in the “Rosy Ruffles” socks in DROPS 223-47. We have already worked the flounce edge and we place a marker in the first stitch on last round. Work a rib with knit 2/purl 1 to right measurements. Fold the beginning of piece in towards wrong side of piece so that you can pick up stitch in the first round with rib after A.1 (piece is now folded with wrong side towards wrong side and flounce is pointing upwards over the needles). Knit 1 round while at the same time as every knit stitch from the first round with rib is knitted together with next stitch on round (i.e. every 3rd stitch from the first round with rib is fastened to the round being worked now). Turn the piece inside out so that flounce is on the outside of piece, this is now the right side of sock. Knit 1 round (as the round is turned there might be a small hole in the transition but this can be sewn up with a small stitch at the end). These socks are worked in DROPS Nord, but in this video we work with a thicker yarn; DROPS Snow. You must read the pattern to be able to follow this video properly. How to work a rib with small waves along the cast-on edge

In this DROPS video we show how we work a rib with small waves along the cast-on edge. We have already worked 4 rows with rib (1K and 1P), and with 3K in the beginning and end in each row (both from RS and WS). Then we work as follows: Knit 1, * purl 1, knit 1, purl 1, take the right needle from the front of work and under the cast on edge, use right needle to lift the outermost stitch from left needle to the right needle, then take the right needle back around under the cast on edge (only the outermost stitch on the right needle is wrapped around the cast on edge), place this stitch back on left needle and knit the stitch (make sure the stitch is not twisted) *, work from *-* the whole row. The neck now has small waves along the cast-on edge. Turn, and work rib to finish measurement. We use the yarn DROPS Snow in the video.
