To best match the two color cast on you want to work a bind off like this on your finished double knitted project.

In this DROPS video we are holding the 2 strands together, knit first 2 sts together, *k2tog through the back loops, then slip the 2nd st on right needle over 1st. Repeat from * across, after last stitch has been slipped over, cut yarn and pull through. Weave in ends.

To match the invisible cast on you will have to make a kitchener stitching at the end of your work. Separate the stitches in the front and back onto two separate needles. Cut yarn and make one tail long enought for stitching, i.e about 3 times the width of your work. Put the long strand on the darning needle and the other strand will be weaved in later. In double knitting every other stitch belongs to the front and every other to the back. In this Drops Video we have a red and a green side, i.e stitches are red and green alternating and you should look at them as pairs. In our example we work a very basic pattern, where you work the stitches in opposite colors. So when we come to the 1st stitch marked in chart, that means next 2 stitches should be switching colors. We therefore work the first stitch red instead of green on the green side, and the following stitch we work green instead of red. On the next row where we shall switch 3 stitches in a row, that means 6 stitches should be worked alternating. We did not use stitch markers in our video, but for some more complicated patterns it can be a good help.

You cast on for both sides at the same time, and the stitches alternately belongs to front and back side of work. Make sure to cast on an even number of stitches, so that you will have the same amount of sts in the front and in the back. When working first row make sure strands are twisted to secure first stitch. Make sure to knit the knit stitches and purl the purl stitches as shown in our Drops Video.

Then we show how to slip the edge sts, for a looser decorative edge. Both methods will connect the sides so piece is closed each side. In this DROPS video we show how to work a round bind-off edge, knitting up stitches from the wrong side. We pick up stitches from 2 knitted rounds below the next stitch on the needle as follows: Pick up a stitch in the top loop from the wrong side and place it on the left needle. Knit together this loop and the first stitch on the left needle. * Pick up the next stitch in the next stitch-loop in the same way and knit it together with the next stitch on the needle. Bind off by passing the first stitch over the second stitch *. Repeat until all stitches are bind off. We use yarn DROPS Snow in the video.
