How to crochet a granny square with color changes

In this DROPS video we show to make a basic granny square with colour changes. They are very popular and can be used on many projects. After each colour change, crochet around the old yarn end to fasten before cutting it. Crochet 6 ch and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch. ROUND 1: 3 ch, 2 tr in ring, * 3 ch, 3 tr *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times and finish with 3 ch and 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. Turn piece. Change colour. ROUND 2: 3 ch, 2 tr in first ch-space, 3 ch, 3 tr in the same ch-space, * 1 ch, 3 tr in the next ch-space, 3 ch, 3 tr in the same ch-space *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times, finish with 1 ch and 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. Turn piece. Change colour. ROUND 3: 3 ch, 2 tr in the first ch-space, 1 ch, * 3 tr in the next ch-space, 3 ch, 3 tr in the same ch-space, 1 ch, 3 tr in the next ch-space, 1 ch *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times, 3 tr in the next ch-space, 3 ch, 3 tr in the same ch-space, 1 ch, finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch from beg of round. How to crochet a star stitch pattern (in the round)

In this DROPS video we show how to crochet a star stich pattern in the round. We crochet 25 LOOSE ch and form a ring with 1 sl st in first ch. ROUND 1: Work 3 ch, pick up 5 sts, beg in 2nd ch from hook (= 6 sts on hook), make a YO and pull through all 6 sts, work 1 ch to make a hole over the 6 sts, * pick up 1 st in the hole, pick up 1 st in the side on the last of the 6 sts, pick up 1 st in same ch as the last of the 6 sts was picked up in, 1 st in each of the 2 next ch (= 6 sts on hook), make a YO and pull through all 6 sts, 1 ch *, repeat from *-* 11 times in total, finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch at beg of round. ROUND 2: 2 ch, work 2 htr in each "star hole", finish round with 1 sl st in 2nd ch at beg of round = 12 stars. ROUND 3: 3 ch, pick up 1 st in 2nd and 3rd ch from hook, 1 st in back loop of the first 3 htr on row (= 6 sts on hook), make a YO and pull through all 6 sts, 1 ch, * pick up 1 st in the hole, 1 st in the side on the last of the 6 sts, 1 st in back loop of same htr as the last of the 6 sts was picked up in, 1 st in back loop of each of the 2 htr (= 6 sts on hook), make a YO and pull through all 6 sts, 1 ch *, repeat from *-* 11 times in total, finish with 1 sl st in 3rd ch at beg of round. Repeat from round 2 and 3 to the desired length. (If you want you can sew a few stitches in the transition between row 3 and 2, if you think the holes are too large).
