Hej Inger, ja du kan bytte ud DROPS Alpaca Boucle med DROPS Brushed Alpaca Silk og strikke den sammen med Kid-Silk for at få strikkefastheden på 13 masker på 10 cm :)

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge in height = Knit 2 rows. MEASURING TIP: All widths are taken with the piece lying flat and without stretching it out. All lengths are taken holding the piece up, or the vest will be too long when worn. DECREASE TIP-1 (evenly spaced): To work out how to decrease evenly, count the total number of stitches on needle (e.g. 79 stitches) minus the edge stitches (e.g. 6 stitches) and divide the remaining stitches by the number of decreases to be made (e.g. 16) = 4.6. In this example decrease by alternately knitting together each 3rd and 4th stitch and each 4th and 5th stitch (do not decrease over the edge stitches). DECREASE TIP-2 (for neck at back and v-neck in front): All decreases are worked from the right side! DECREASE AS FOLLOWS BEFORE THE 5 EDGE STITCHES TOWARDS THE NECK: Start 2 stitches before the 5 edge stitches and knit 2 together (= 1 stitch decreased). DECREASE AS FOLLOWS AFTER THE 5 EDGE STITCHES TOWARDS THE NECK: Slip 1 stitch as if to knit, knit 1 and pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch (= 1 stitch decreased). BINDING-OFF TIP: To avoid the bind-off edge being tight you can bind off with a larger size needle. If the edge is still tight, make 1 yarn over after approx. each 4th stitch at the same time as binding off and the yarn overs are bind off as normal stitches. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- VEST – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The whole garment is worked with 1 strand of each quality (= 2 strands). The back and front pieces are worked separately, back and forth with circular needle and bottom up. The back piece is 10 cm = 4" longer than the front piece. The front and back pieces are sewn together at the shoulder. In addition a stitch is sewn in each side to make the armholes. BACK PIECE: Cast on slightly loosely 79-83-91-99-109-119 stitches with circular needle size 7 mm = US 10,75 and 2 strands Kid-Silk and 1 strand Alpaca Bouclé (= 3 strands). Remove 1 of the strands of Kid-Silk (the rest of the back piece is worked with 1 strand of each quality; casting on with 3 strands prevents the cast-on edge being tight). Change to circular needle size 6 mm = US 10 and purl 1 row from the wrong side. The next row is worked as follows from the right side: 3 edge stitches in GARTER STITCH – read description above, * knit 1, purl 1 *, work from *-* until there are 4 stitches left on the row, knit 1 and finish with 3 edge stitches in garter stitches. Continue this rib for 12 cm = 4¾". Change back to circular needle size 7 mm = US 10,75 and knit 1 row from the right side where you decrease 16-16-18-20-22-24 stitches evenly spaced – read DECREASE TIP-1 = 63-67-73-79-87-95 stitches. Then work stockinette stitch (knit from right side, purl from wrong side) with 3 edge stitches in garter stitches on each side. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm = 20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜" – read MEASURING TIP, work garter stitch over the middle stitches before binding off for the neck – AT THE SAME TIME place stitches on a thread for the diagonal shoulders and decrease for the neck as described below. NECK: Start by working garter stitch over the middle 21-21-21-23-23-23 stitches mid back (the other stitches are worked in stockinette stitch and garter stitch as before). This is done to give a neat finish around the neck. When you have worked 3 ridges over the middle 21-21-21-23-23-23 stitches, bind off the middle 11-11-11-13-13-13 stitches for the neck and each shoulder is finished separately. The piece now measures approx. 55-57-59-61-63-65 cm = 21⅝"-22½"-23¼"-24"-24¾"-25½". Then decrease 1 stitch for the neck on the next row from the right side – read DECREASE TIP-2. DIAGONAL SHOULDER: AT THE SAME TIME when the piece measures 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm = 21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼" – remember MEASURING TIP, place stitches on 1 thread on each side for the diagonal shoulders - NOTE: To avoid cutting the strand, work the stitches before placing them on the thread. Start from the right side, place 8-9-10-10-12-13 stitches on a thread at the beginning of each row a total of 2 times on each side, then place the remaining 9-9-10-12-12-14 stitches on the threads on each side. When all the stitches are on the threads for the shoulders and have been bind off for the neck, the piece measures approx. 58-60-62-64-66-68 cm = 22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼"-26"-26¾" from the longest part on the shoulder and down. Work the other shoulder in the same way. FRONT PIECE: Cast on 79-83-91-99-109-119 stitches with circular needle size 7 mm = US 10,75 and 2 strands Kid-Silk and 1 strand Alpaca Bouclé (= 3 strands). Remove 1 of the strands of Kid-Silk (the rest of the front piece is worked with 1 strand of each quality). Change to circular needle size 6 mm = US 10 and purl 1 row from the wrong side. The next row is worked as follows from the right side: 3 edge stitches in garter stitch, * knit 1, purl 1 *, work from *-* until there are 4 stitches left on the row, knit 1 and finish with 3 edge stitches in garter stitches. Continue this rib for 12 cm = 4¾". Change back to circular needle size 7 mm = US 10,75 and knit 1 row from the right side where you decrease 16-16-18-20-22-24 stitches evenly spaced – remember DECREASE TIP-1 = 63-67-73-79-87-95 stitches. Then work stockinette stitch with 3 edge stitches in garter stitches on each side. When the piece measures 26-27-28-29-30-31 cm = 10¼"-10⅝"-11"-11⅜"-11¾"-12¼", work 2 ridges over the middle 5 stitches on the row (the other stitches are worked in stockinette stitch and garter stitch as before). After the 2 ridges, the front piece is divided for the v-neck by working the next row from the right side as follows: Work as before over the first 34-36-39-42-46-50 stitches and place the remaining 29-31-34-37-41-45 stitches on 1 thread or an extra needle. Each side is finished separately. LEFT FRONT PIECE (when the garment is worn): Start from the wrong side and work stockinette stitch as before with 5 edge stitches in garter stitch towards the neck and 3 edge stitches in garter stitch towards the side. On the next row from the right side start to decrease for the v-neck– remember DECREASE TIP-2. Decrease like this every 2nd row a total of 4-4-4-4-4-4 times and then every 4th row a total of 5-5-5-6-6-6 times = 25-27-30-32-36-40 stitches. Continue with 3 edge stitches in garter stitch towards the side and 5 edge stitches in garter stitch towards the neck. When the piece measures 44-46-48-50-52-54 cm = 17¼"-18"-19"-19¾"-20½"-21¼" – remember MEASURING TIP, place stitches on a thread for the diagonal shoulder in the same way as on the back piece; i.e. start from the right side and place 8-9-10-10-12-13 stitches on the thread at the beginning of each row a total of 2 times and then place the remaining 9-9-10-12-12-14 stitches on the threads. After all the decreases for the v-neck and diagonal shoulder the front piece measures approx. 48-50-52-54-56-58 cm = 19"-19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾" from the longest part on the shoulder and down. RIGHT FRONT PIECE (when the garment is worn): Start from the right side with needle size 7 mm = US 10,75 and 1 strand of each quality and knit up 1 stitch at the back of the 5 garter stitches at the bottom of the v-neck. Then work as before over the 29-31-34-37-41-45 stitches from the thread/extra needle = 34-36-39-42-46-50 stitches on the needle. Work stockinette stitch as before with 5 edge stitches in garter stitch towards the neck and 3 edge stitches in garter stitch towards the side. On the next row from the right side, start to decrease for the v-neck – remember DECREASE TIP-2. Decrease like this every 2nd row a total of 4-4-4-4-4-4 times and then every 4th row a total of 5-5-5-6-6-6 times = 25-27-30-32-36-40 stitches. Continue with 5 edge stitches in garter stitch towards the neck and 3 edge stitches in garter stitch towards the side. When the piece measure 44-46-48-50-52-54 cm = 17¼"-18"-19"-19¾"-20½"-21¼", place stitches on a thread for the diagonal shoulder in the same way as for the left front piece; i.e. start from the wrong side and place 8-9-10-10-12-13 stitches on a thread at the beginning of each row a total of 2 times, then place the remaining 9-9-10-12-12-14 stitches on the thread. After all the decreases for the v-neck and diagonal shoulder the front piece measures approx. 48-50-52-54-56-58 cm = 19"-19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾" from the longest part on the shoulder and down. FINISHING THE DIAGONAL SHOULDERS: Place the 25-27-30-32-36-40 stitches from one of the threads on circular needle size 6 mm = US 10. Knit 1 row from the wrong side with 1 strand of each quality, but to avoid leaving a hole in the transition where the stitches were placed on a thread, pick up the loop before the next stitch and knit it twisted together with the first stitch on the left needle. Then loosely bind off with knit from the right side – read BINDING-OFF TIP! Repeat along the 3 other shoulders. ASSEMBLY: Sew the shoulder seams inside the bind-off edge – make sure the seam is not tight. Sew the vest together on each side with a couple of stitches approx. 17-18-19-20-21-22 cm = 6 3/42-7"-7½"-8"-8¼"-8¾" down from the lowest point on the shoulder (you can try the vest on and adjust the positioning if necessary). |
