---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH (worked in the round): 1 ridge vertically = 2 rounds, i.e. knit 1 round and purl 1 round. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.4. ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- HAT - SHORT SUMMARY OF GARMENT: Worked in the round on circular needle, bottom up. Switch to double pointed needles when needed. HAT: Cast on 90-96 stitches on circular needle size 4 mm = US 6 with Air. Work A.1 in the round. When A.1 has been worked, switch to circular needle size 4.5 mm = US 7. Work A.2 in the round. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When A.2 has been worked 2 times vertically, turn piece so that right side is on the wrong side, and continue in the round in opposite direction. This is done because the edge worked is folded up when the hat is done, and the right side of edge will be at the front of hat. Now work pattern A.3 in the round. When hat measures 25-26 cm = 9¾"-10¼" - adjust to finish after a whole repetition vertically, work pattern in the different sizes as follows: Size S/M: Work A.4 (= 10 stitches) 9 times in total on round. Size L/XL: Work * A.4 (= 10 stitches) 3 times in width, work A.3 as before over the next 2 stitches *, work from *-* 3 times in total on round. When entire A.4 has been worked, there are 18-24 stitches on round. Knit stitches together 2 by 2 = 9-12 stitches. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. Hat measures approx. 33-34 cm = 13"-13⅜" (25-26 cm = 9¾"-10¼" + 8 cm = 3⅛" folding edge). ---------------------------------------------------------- NECK WARMER - SHORT SUMMARY OF PIECE: Worked in the round on circular needle. NECK WARMER: Cast on 90-102 stitches on circular needle size 7 mm = US 10,75 with Air. Knit 1 round. Then work pattern A.1 in the round. When A.1 has been worked vertically, continue with A.2 in the round. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When piece measures 24-26 cm = 9½"-10¼" in total - adjust to finish after a whole or half repetition vertically, work A.1 in the round. When 1 round of A.1 remains, bind off - make sure to avoid a tight bind-off edge. Neck warmer measures approx. 28-30 cm = 11"-11¾". |
