Bon tricot!

STRIPES SLEEVE: 2-2-2-2-2-2 cm = ¾"-¾"-¾"-¾"-¾"-¾" with 1 strand off-white AB and 1 strand off-white KS 7-7-7-6-6-6 cm = 2¾"-2¾"-2¾"-2⅜"-2⅜"-2⅜" with 1 strand off-white AB and 1 strand sea green KS 5-5-5-4-4-4 cm = 2"-2"-2"-1½"-1½"-1½" with 1 strand off-white AB and 1 strand lavender KS Then work with 1 strand off-white AB and 1 strand cobolt blue KS to finished length. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in sections, back and forth with circular needle, bottom up. The sections are then sewn together and the neck worked to finish. BACK PIECE: Cast on 78-82-86-94-98-106 stitches (including 1 edge stitch on each side) with circular needle size 6 mm = US 10 and 1 strand off-white Alpaca Bouclé and 1 strand off-white Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). Purl 1 row (= wrong side). The next row is worked as follows from the right side: 1 edge stitch in GARTER STITCH – read description above, * knit 2, purl 2 *, work from *-* until there is 1 stitch left on row and finish with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue this rib for 5 cm = 2". Purl 1 row from the wrong side where you decrease 4-4-2-4-2-4 stitches evenly spaced = 74-78-84-90-96-102 stitches. Change to circular needle size 8 mm = US 11 and continue with stockinette stitch with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side. AT THE SAME TIME work STRIPES FRONT PIECE AND BACK PIECE – read description above. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When the piece measures 37-38-39-40-41-42 cm = 14½"-15"-15¼"-15¾"-16⅛"-16½", bind off for armholes as follows: Bind off 2 stitches at the beginning of the row and work to end of row as before. Turn the piece, bind off 2 stitches at the beginning of the row and work to end of row as before = 70-74-80-86-92-98 stitches. Continue with stripes back and forth and with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side. When the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm = 20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜" insert 1 marker in the middle of the row (= 35-37-40-43-46-49 stitches on each side of marker). It will be used when binding off for the neck. AT THE SAME TIME place stitches on a thread for diagonal shoulder on each side as follows (at the same time as you continue working back and forth as before): Place 8-8-9-9-10-11 stitches on a thread 2 times on each side and then 7-8-9-11-12-12 stitches on the thread 1 time on each side (to avoid cutting the strand, work the stitches before placing them on thread). AT THE SAME TIME when the piece measures 54-56-58-60-62-64 cm = 21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼" bind off the middle 22-24-24-26-26-28 stitches for neck (i.e. bind off 11-12-12-13-13-14 stitches on each side of the marker mid back). Each shoulder is finished separately. Continue placing shoulder stitches on the thread as described above and bind off 1 stitch on the next row from the neck. When all stitches have either been placed on the thread or bind off the piece measures approx. 56-58-60-62-64-66 cm = 22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼"-26" from the shoulder down - measured by the neck where it is longest. Finish the other shoulder in the same way. FRONT PIECE: Cast on 78-82-86-94-98-106 stitches (including 1 edge stitch on each side) with circular needle size 6 mm = US 10 and 1 strand off-white Alpaca Bouclé and 1 strand off-white Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). AT THE SAME TIME work STRIPES FRONT PIECE AND BACK PIECE! When the piece measures 37-38-39-40-41-42 cm = 14½"-15"-15½"-15¾"-16⅛"-16½", bind off for armholes as follows: Bind off 2 stitches at the beginning of the row and work to end of row as before. Turn the piece, bind off 2 stitches at the beginning of the row and work to end of row as before = 70-74-80-86-92-98 stitches. Continue with stripes back and forth and with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side. When the piece measures 48-50-52-54-56-58 cm = 19"-19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾", place the middle 16-18-18-20-20-22 stitches on 1 thread for neck = 27-28-31-33-36-38 stitches left on each side. Each shoulder is finished separately. Continue the stripes back and forth as before and bind off for neck at the beginning of each row from the neck as follows: Bind off 2 stitches 1 time and 1 stitch 2 times. AT THE SAME TIME when the piece measures 52-54-56-58-60-62 cm = 20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜", place stitches on a thread for the diagonal shoulders as follows (at the same time as you continue working back and forth as before): Place the outermost 8-8-9-9-10-11 stitches on the side on a thread 2 times and then the outermost 7-8-9-11-12-12 stitches 1 time (to avoid cutting the strand, work the stitches before placing them on thread). When all stitches have either been placed on the thread or bind off the piece measures approx 56-58-60-62-64-66 cm = 22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼"-26" from the shoulder down - measured by the neck where it is longest. Finish the other shoulder in the same way. SLEEVE: Cast on 42-42-46-46-50-50 stitches with circular needle size 6 mm = US 10 and 1 strand off-white Alpaca Bouclé and 1 strand off-white Kid-Silk (= 2 strands). Purl 1 row (= wrong side). The next row is worked as follows from the right side: 1 edge stitch in garter stitch, * knit 2, purl 2 *, work from *-* until there is 1 stitch left on row and finish with 1 edge stitch in garter stitch. Continue this rib for 5 cm = 2". Purl 1 row from the wrong side where you decrease 4-2-4-2-4-2 stitches evenly spaced = 38-40-42-44-46-48 stitches. Change to circular needle size 8 mm = US 11 and continue with stockinette stitch and 1 edge stitch in garter stitch on each side. AT THE SAME TIME work STRIPES SLEEVE – read description above. Work until the sleeve measures approx. 31-30-28-27-25-24 cm = 12¼"-11¾"-11"-10⅝"-9¾"-9½" (or to desired length: NOTE shorter measurements in larger sizes due to wider shoulders). Loosely bind off with knit from the right side. Work the other sleeve in the same way. ASSEMBLY, DIAGONAL SHOULDERS: Place the 23-24-27-29-32-34 stitches from the thread on the one shoulder on circular needle size 6 mm = US 10. Knit 1 row from the wrong side with 1 strand off-white Alpaca Bouclé and 1 strand cobolt blue Kid-Silk; to avoid getting a hole in each transition where you placed stitches on the thread, pick up the loop between the 2 stitches and place twisted onto the left needle before knitting it together with the next stitch on the left needle. Change to circular needle size 8 mm = US 11 and loosely bind off with knit from the right side and 2 strands Alpaca Bouclé – it is important the bind-off edge is not tight. Work the other 3 shoulders in the same way. ASSEMBLY: Sew shoulder seams inside the bind-off edges. Sew side seams inside the 1 edge stitch in garter stitch from the armholes down. Sew sleeve seams inside the 1 edge stitch in garter stitch – sew bottom up and leave approx. 1 cm at the top without a seam (this part of un-sewn seam will then be sewn to the bottom of the armhole on body). Sew in sleeves inside the 1 edge stitch in garter stitch and sew bottom of armhole. NECK: Start mid back and knit up from the right side approx. 56 to 72 stitches around the neck (including stitches from thread mid front) with short circular needle size 6 mm = US 10 and 1 strand off-white Alpaca Bouclé and 1 strand off-white Kid-Silk – number of stitches needs to be divisible by 4. Work rib in the round (= knit 2/ purl 2) for 3 cm = 1⅛". Loosely bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl. |
