Thank you, but this still isn’t clear, is the second part, after the centre stitch a mirror image of part one? Also, please can you put instructions for row 9 in writing. I’m sorry but I’m not having a “happy knitting” experience. 😒

Dear Diana, you work the same pattern on each side of the middle stitch = start with A.1, repeat A.2 and finish with A.3. On row 9 follow diagram symbols as on row 3 = YO, K1, YO, K2 tog, YO, K2 tog, YO (= A.1), repeat *K2 tog, YO* (= A.2) and finish with K2 tog, YO, K2 tog, YO, K1, YO (= A.3. Happy knitting!

Please can you explain in writing row 3 and row 9 of A1, A2, A3. I can’t understand it. Also, why in row one you just make one yarnover, yet the graph says the graphic means two yarnovers? Very confusing. Thank you.

Dear Diana, you first work 2 sts in garter stitch, then work A.1, repeat A.2 and finish the first side of the shawl with A.3, work the middle stitch and repeat same pattern on the other side of shawl : A.1, repeat A.2 and finish with A.3 and 2 sts in garter stitch. On row 3 in A.1-2-3 work: YO, K1 (= A.1), *K2 tog, YO* (= A.2), repeat from *-* and work K2, YO (= A.3). Read more about diagrams here. Happy knitting!

Jeg kan ikke forstå hvordan jeg kan få diagram a4-a6 til at passe efter første gennemgang. Jeg har plads til to a5, men hvordan skal jeg strikke mellem de to.

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- RIDGE/GARTER STITCH (worked back and forth): Knit all rows. 1 ridge in height = Knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.6. The diagrams show all rows in the pattern seen from the right side. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SHAWL - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked back and forth with circular needle so that you have room for all the stitches. It is worked top down. SHAWL: Cast on 9 stitches with circular needle size 8 mm = US 11. Work 1 RIDGE - see description above. Insert a marker in the middle stitch on the row (= mid-stitch). Work as follows from the right side: 2 edge stitches in garter stitch, make 1 yarn over, knit 2, 1 yarn over, 1 stitch in stockinette stitch (= mid-stitch), make 1 yarn over, knit 2 , 1 yarn over and finish with 2 edge stitches in garter stitch = 13 stitches. Knit 1 row from the wrong side. Work according to diagrams A.1-A.3 as follows from the right side: Work 2 edge stitches in garter stitch, A.1 over 1 stitch, repeat A.2 until there is 1 stitch left before the mid-stitch, work A.3 over 1 stitch, 1 stitch in stockinette stitch (= mid-stitch), A.1 over 1 stitch, repeat A.2 until there are 3 stitches left on the row, work A.3 over 1 stitch and 2 edge stitches in garter stitch. REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! When the diagrams have been worked 1 time in height there are 35 stitches on the needle. Work according to diagrams A.4-A.6 as follows from the right side: Work 2 edge stitches in garter stitch, A.4 over 1 stitch, A.5 over 12 stitches, A.6 over 2 stitches, 1 stitch in stockinette stitch (= mid-stitch), work A.4 over 1 stitch, A.5 over 12 stitches, A.6 over 2 stitches and finish with 2 edge stitches in garter stitch. When the diagrams have been worked 1 time in height there are 59 stitches on the needle. Continue working according to diagrams A.4-A.6, but each time the diagrams are worked 1 time in height, there will be 1 more repeat of A.5 between A.4 and A.6 on each side of the mid-stitch. Work like this until the piece measures approx. 106 cm = 41¾" measured along the mid-stitch; adjust to finish after a complete repeat of the diagrams in height. Work 1 ridge over all stitches. BINDING OFF: To avoid the bind-off edge being tight, bind off with a double strand. Cut a strand of approx. 4-5 meters = 160"-200" and use this strand together with the other strand when binding off in knit. Cut and fasten the strands. |
