Front and back pieces are worked separately and crocheted together to finish. Stitches are cast on for sleeves. BACK PIECE: Work 133-145-157-169-181-193 chain stitches with hook size 5 mm = US H/8 and BabyMerino. Then work according to the diagrams as follows: Work A.1d over the first 6 chain stitches, repeat A.1b until there is 1 chain stitch left (= 21-23-25-27-29-31 repeats), and finish with A.1e over the last chain stitch. When A.1d/b/e have been completed in height, repeat rows 3 and 4 onwards. REMEMBER THE CROCHET GAUGE! When the piece measures approx. 50-52-52-54-54-56 cm = 19¾"-20½"-20½"-21¼"-21¼"-22"– adjust so that you finish after row 3 in the diagrams (= from the right side), cut the strand. Work 48-42-42-36-36-30 loose chain stitches for the sleeve, continue with row 4 in the diagrams as before over the back piece (from the wrong side) and finish with 48-42-42-36-36-30 loose chain stitches for the other sleeve. Repeat rows 3 and 4 onwards. The next row is worked as follows (= from the right side): Work row 1 in A.1a over the first 6 chain stitches, work row 1 in A.1b over the next 42-36-36-30-30-24 chain stitches (= 7-6-6-5-5-4 repeats), work row 3 in A.1b over the front piece a total of 12-13-14-15-16-17 times in width and finish with row 3 in A.1c. The next row is worked starting from row 4 in A.1c/b/a (= from the wrong side) as follows: Work A.1c one time, A.1b a total of 19-19-20-20-21-21 times in width and finish with A.1a. When A.3 has been completed in height, rows 3 to 6 are repeated 2-2-2-3-3-3 more times in height. The collar measures approx. 8-8-8-10-10-10 cm = 3⅛"-3⅛"-3⅛"-4"-4"-4" at the narrowest point. Cut and fasten the strand. ASSEMBLY: Lay the front pieces on top of back piece. Crochet through both layers. Work the shoulders first as follows: 1 single crochet through both layers, * 3 chain stitches, 1 single crochet around the next chain-space *, work from *-*. Crochet the sides together, starting from the bottom edge as follows: 1 single crochet through both layers, * 3 chain stitches, 1 single crochet around the chain-space/double crochet/treble crochet on next row *, work from *-* along the side. Continue under the sleeve as follows: * 3 chain stitches, 1 single crochet around the next chain-space*, work from *-*. Sew the shawl collar together mid back and sew to the neckline at back of neck. Make sure that the seam is on the wrong side when the collar is turned down. |
