DROPS Jacket in ”Alpaca” with flounces in wavy pattern on body piece. Size S to XXXL
DROPS 114-27 |
|||||||||||||
PATTERN: See diagram M.1 and M.2 – diagrams are seen from RS and show 1 vertical pattern repeat. GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. FRONT BANDS: The front bands are worked in garter st with 2 threads throughout. On the bottom part of body piece have a ball of dark red mix each side that follows the piece. For best result work the front bands rather tight. DECREASING TIP (applies to neckline): Dec from RS inside 5 front band sts in garter st. Dec as follows AFTER 5 sts: slip 1 st as if to K, K1, psso. Dec as follows BEFORE 5 sts: K2 tog. -------------------------------------------------------- -------------------------------------------------------- BODY PIECE: Worked back and forth on circular needle from mid front. The bottom part consists of 5-5-5-6-6-6 flounces, layered to cover half of the previous flounce. FIRST FLOUNCE: LOOSELY cast on 216-240-264-288-312-336 sts on circular needle size 4.5 mm / US 7 with dark red mix. Work 1 row from WS as follows: K5, K2 tog, * K10, K2 tog *, repeat from *-*, and finish with K5 = 198-220-242-264-286-308 sts. Now work the first 2 rows of M.1. Change to orange mix and continue in M.1 until there are 5 vertical repeats of M.1, work the first 2 rows of M.1, and then work next row as follows from RS: K 9-12-10-7-11-15, * K2 tog, K5 *, repeat from *-* until 7-12-8-5-9-13 sts remain, K these sts = 172-192-210-228-248-268 sts, at the end of row cast on 5 new sts for front band – cast these sts on with 1 thread of each color (= 2 threads) – see FRONT BAND above, work the remainder of piece with 1 thread orange mix only. K 1 row (= last row in M.1), cast on 5 new sts at the end of row with 1 thread of each color (= front band the other side) = 182-202-220-238-258-278 sts on needle. Work GARTER ST – see above – for approx 5 cm / 2", finish with 1 row from WS – cut the orange mix thread, but leave the dark red mix thread each side. Put the flounce aside, it measures approx 12 cm / 4¾". SECOND FLOUNCE: Work another flounce in the same way until there are 172-192-210-228-248-268 sts on needle, do NOT cast on new sts for front band, but K 1 row on all sts (= last row in M.1). KNITTING THE FLOUNCES TOG: Now place the second flounce on top of the first flounce and work them tog from RS as follows: 5 front band sts in garter st from the first flounce (worked with 1 thread of each color), continue with orange mix only as follows: K tog 1 st from the first flounce with 1 st from the second flounce, repeat until all sts are worked tog, finish with 5 front band sts in garter st from the first flounce with 1 thread of each color = 182-202-220-238-258-278 sts. Work 5 cm / 2" garter st on all sts - finish with 1 row from WS, cut the orange mix thread, but leave the dark red mix thread each side. Put piece aside. THIRD FLOUNCE: Like second flounce and work the third and second flounce tog in the same way as the first and second. Make sure to have the same no of garter st rows after M.1 in each flounce. SIZE S, M and L: Fourth FLOUNCE: Like third flounce. SIZE XL, XXL and XXXL: Fourth and fifth FLOUNCE: Like third flounce. ALL SIZES: LAST FLOUNCE: Like third flounce, work flounce tog with previous flounce as before, but when they are worked tog from RS work next row from WS as follows: 5 front band sts as before, K 4-5-4-3-3-3, * K2 tog, K 7-7-8-8-8-8 *, repeat from *-* until 11-12-11-10-10-10 sts remain, K2 tog, K 4-5-4-3-3-3 and 5 front band sts as before = 164-182-200-216-234-252 sts. Piece now measures approx 32-32-32-37-37-37 cm / 12½"-12½"-12½"-14½"-14½"-14½". Insert a marker 43-48-52-56-61-65 sts in from each side (= 78-86-96-104-112-122 sts between markers on back piece). READ ALL OF THE FOLLOWING SECTION BEFORE CONTINUING! Continue as follows with 1 thread of each color on all sts: 3 vertical repeats of M.2, and then complete piece in stockinette st, with front bands in garter st as before. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! AT THE SAME TIME on first row from RS after M.2 dec 1 st each side towards mid front for neck – SEE DECREASING TIP – and repeat the dec on every other row a total of 5-6-6-6-7-7 times and then on every 4th row a total of 8 times. AT THE SAME TIME when piece measures 37-38-39-43-44-45 cm / 14½"-15"-15¼"-17"-17¼"-17¾" bind off 3 sts each side of both markers at the sides for armhole (= 6 sts each side) and complete each piece separately. LEFT FRONT PIECE: Continue dec for neck, AT THE SAME TIME cast of for armhole at the beg of every row from the side: 3 sts 0-0-1-1-1-2 times, 2 sts 1-2-2-3-4-4 times and 1 st 2-3-4-4-4-4 times. After all dec for armhole and neck are complete there are 23-24-24-26-28-29 sts left on shoulder. Bind off when armhole measures approx 19-20-21-22-23-24 cm / 7½"-8"-8¼"-8¾"-9"-9½" (piece measures a total of approx 56-58-60-65-67-69 cm / 22"-22¾"-23⅝"-25½"-26⅜"-27⅛"). RIGHT FRONT PIECE: Like left front piece but mirrored. BACK PIECE: = 72-80-90-98-106-116 sts. Bind off for armhole each side as described for front piece = 64-66-68-72-76-80 sts. Continue until armhole measures approx 17-18-19-20-21-22 cm / 6¾"-7"-7½"-8"-8¼"-8¾", now work 4 rows garter st on the middle 28-28-30-30-30-32 sts with remaining sts as before. On next row bind off the middle 18-18-20-20-20-22 sts for neck and complete each shoulder (= 23-24-24-26-28-29 sts) separately. Bind off when piece measures the same as front piece. SLEEVE: Piece worked back and forth on needle, with 1 thread of each color (2 threads). Cast on 44-46-46-48-48-52 sts (includes 1 edge st each side) on needle size 4.5 mm / US 7 with 1 thread of each color. Work 7 cm / 2¾" garter st, and then complete piece in stockinette st. When piece measures 12 cm / 4¾" inc 1 st each side, and repeat the inc on every 3.5-3.5-3-2.5-2-2 cm / 1¼"-1¼"-1⅛"-⅞"-¾"-¾" a total of 10-10-12-13-15-15 times = 64-66-70-74-78-82 sts. When piece measures 48-47-46-45-44-43 cm / 19"-18½"-18"-17¾"-17¼"-17" (less for the larger sizes because of longer sleeve cap and wider shoulder) bind off for sleeve cap each side at the beg of every row: 3 sts 1 time, 2 sts 3 times and 1 st 1-2-3-5-6-7 times, then 2 sts each side until piece measures 56 cm / 22", now bind off 3 sts 1 time each side, and bind off remaining sts. Sleeve measures approx 57 cm / 22½". ASSEMBLY: Sew sleeve seams inside 1 edge st and set in sleeves. TIE STRINGS: Cut 2 threads of each color measuring approx 60 cm / 23½" each. Twist them, fold them double and let them twist again. Tie a knot each end. Sew the string to front band on one side where M.2 beg. Repeat for the other front piece. |
