------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.12. CHAIN STITCH: If you work outermost on the hook the chain stitch will often be too tight; 1 chain stitch should be as long as 1 double crochet is wide. CROCHET INFORMATION (double crochets in a spiral): After dividing the yoke for the body and sleeves, double crochets are worked in a spiral without finishing the rounds. Start the first round with 1 single crochet which replaces the first double crochet, then work double crochets to the end of the round. Do not finish the round with 1 slip stitch but work 1 double crochet in the single crochet at the beginning of the previous round. Continue double crochets like this, without finishing the rounds. When finishing the last round in the side/mid-back, work as follows to avoid a «jump» in the transition: Work until there are 2 double crochets left, work 1 half-double crochet in the next double crochet, 1 single crochet in the last double crochet and 1 slip stitch in the next double crochet. DECREASE TIP-1 (for sleeves): When working in the round, the beginning of the round will be displaced. Insert 1 marker-thread mid-under the sleeve between 2 stitches, and move the thread vertically as you work onwards, keeping it mid-under the sleeve. Lay the garment flat to check the marker-thread is still correct as you decrease. Decrease on each side of 2 double crochets by the marker-thread as follows: Work until there are 3 double crochets left before the marker-thread, work 2 double crochets together – read DECREASE TIP-2, work 2 double crochets, work 2 double crochets together (2 decreased stitches). DECREASE TIP-2 (for sleeves): Work 2 double crochets together as follows: * Make 1 yarn over, insert the hook in the next stitch, pick up the strand, make 1 yarn over and pull it through the first 2 loops on the hook *, work from *-* 1 more time (3 loops on hook), make 1 yarn over and pull it through all 3 loops on the hook (1 stitch decreased). ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The yoke is worked in the round from the right back shoulder and top down. When the yoke is finished, it is divided for the body and sleeves and the body continued in the round, while the sleeves wait. The sleeves are worked top down, in the round. An edge is worked around the neckline to finish. If there is a «0» in your chosen size, skip the information and go straight to the next instruction. YOKE: Use crochet hook size 4.5 MM = US 7, 1 strand DROPS Alpaca and 1 strand DROPS Kid-Silk (2 strands). Work 80-84-88-92-96-100-104 CHAIN STITCHES – read explanation above. Work the first round of double crochets as follows - read PATTERN: Work A.1 in the first chain stitch (= half raglan), 1 double crochet in each of the next 16-16-18-18-18-18-18 chain stitches (= sleeve), A.2 in the next chain stitch (= raglan), 1 double crochet in each of the next 22-24-24-26-28-30-32 chain stitches (= front piece), A.3 in the next chain stitch (= raglan), 1 double crochet in each of the next 16-16-18-18-18-18-18 chain stitches (= sleeve), A.2 in the next chain stitch (= raglan), 1 double crochet in each of the next 22-24-24-26-28-30-32 chain stitches (= back piece) work A.4 in the first chain stitch (same stitch A.1 was worked in). After the first round there are 84-88-92-96-100-104-108 double crochets and 4 chain-spaces on the round. At the end of the round work 1 chain stitch (drawn into diagram A.4) and 1 half-double crochet in the 3rd chain stitch from the beginning of the round (described in diagram A.1). On rounds 3-4 in diagram A.1, work the first double crochet around this half-double crochet. Continue in the round until A.1 to A.4 are finished in height. There are 140-144-148-152-156-160-164 double crochets and 4 chain-spaces on the round. The stitches are divided as follows between the chain-spaces: 32-32-34-34-34-34-34 double crochets on each sleeve and 38-40-40-42-44-46-48 double crochets on the front and back pieces. Remember to maintain the crochet gauge. Continue by working A.5 above A.1, A.6 above A.2, A.7 above A.3 and A.8 above A.4 9-10-11-12-13-15-16 times in height; a total of 14-15-16-17-18-20-21 rounds worked from the beginning of the piece. There are 248-264-280-296-312-340-356 double crochets and 4 chain-spaces on the round. The stitches are divided as follows between the chain-spaces: 50-52-56-58-60-64-66 double crochets on each sleeve and 74-80-84-90-96-106-112 double crochets on the front and back pieces. Work 1 round with 1 double crochet in each double crochet but working 2 double crochets around each chain-space = 256-272-288-304-320-348-364 double crochets. The piece measures approx. 17-18-19-20-21-23-24 cm = 6¾"-7"-7½"-8"-8¼"-9"-9½" mid-back. Cut the strand. The piece is now divided for the body and sleeves. DIVIDE FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: Work 2-2-3-4-6-6-7 chain stitches (mid-under the sleeve), start in the 2nd double crochet worked around the chain-space before the front piece, and work 1 double crochet in each of the 78-84-88-94-100-110-116 double crochets on the front piece, work 4-4-6-8-12-12-14 chain stitches (mid-under the sleeve), skip 50-52-56-58-60-64-66 double crochets (= sleeve), work double crochets across the 78-84-88-94-100-110-116 double crochets on the back piece, skip 50-52-56-58-60-64-66 double crochets (= sleeve), work 2-2-3-4-6-6-7 chain stitches and 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. The body is continued while the sleeves wait. The piece measures approx. 18-19-20-21-22-24-25 cm = 7"-7½"-8"-8¼"-8¾"-9½"-9¾" mid-back. BODY: The body is continued in a spiral without finishing after each round – read CROCHET INFORMATION in explanations above. Work 1 double crochet in each chain stitch and 1 double crochet in each double crochet (remember the first double crochet is replaced by 1 single crochet and the round does not finish) = 164-176-188-204-224-244-260 double crochets. Continue in the round until the piece measures 51-53-54-56-58-60-62 cm = 20"-21"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜" mid-back. Finish the round as described in CROCHET INFORMATION. The sweater measures approx. 56-58-60-62-64-66-68 cm = 22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼"-26"-26¾" from the shoulder. SLEEVES: The sleeve is continued in a spiral without finishing after each round – remember CROCHET INFORMATION. Start in the 3rd-3rd-4th-5th-7th-7th-8th chain stitch worked mid-under the sleeve. Work 1 double crochet in each of the next 0-0-1-2-4-4-5 chain stitches (1 chain stitch left before the sleeve-stitches), work 2 double crochets together as follows: Work 1 double crochet in the last chain-stitch but wait with the last yarn over and pull-through, work 1 more double crochet in the same way in the transition between the body and sleeve, make 1 yarn over and pull it through all 3 loops on the hook (this closes the hole in the transition between the body and sleeve), work 1 double crochet in each of the 50-52-56-58-60-64-64 skipped double crochets on the sleeve, work 2 double crochets together in the transition between the body and sleeve as before, work 1 double crochet in each of the last 1-1-2-3-5-5-6 chain stitches worked under the sleeve = 54-56-62-66-72-76-80 double crochets. Remember the rounds do not finish and you work in a spiral. When the sleeve measures 2 cm = ¾", decrease mid-under the sleeve – read DECREASE TIP-1 and DECREASE TIP-2. Decrease like this every 4-4-6-6-6-6-4 cm = 1½"-1½"-2⅜"-2⅜"-2⅜"-2⅜"-1½" 3-3-2-2-2-2-3 times = 48-50-58-62-68-72-74 stitches. Work until the sleeve measures 44-43-42-42-42-41-40 cm = 17¼"-17"-16½"-16½"-16½"-16⅛"-15¾". On the next round, increase 4-4-4-4-4-4-4 stitches evenly spaced = 52-54-62-66-72-76-78 stitches. When the sleeve measures 46-45-44-44-44-43-42 cm = 18"-17¾"-17¼"-17¼"-17¼"-17"-16½", increase 0-2-2-2-4-4-6 stitches evenly spaced = 52-56-64-68-76-80-84 stitches. Work until the sleeve measures 47-46-46-46-45-44-43 cm = 18½"-18"-18"-18"-17¾"-17¼"-17" from the division, finishing the round under the sleeve as described in CROCHET INFORMATION. Now work an edge around the cuff: Work A.9 across 4 stitches, then A.10 to end of round. The sleeve measures approx. 48-47-47-47-46-45-44 cm = 19"-18½"-18½"-18½"-18"-17¾"-17¼". Cut and fasten the strands. NECK: Start in the transition between the back piece and sleeve. Fasten the strand with 1 slip stitch, then work 1 single crochet between each double crochet along the first round of the yoke = 80-84-88-92-96-100-104 single crochets. Finish the round with 1 slip stitch in the first single crochet. Work A.11 across 4 stitches, then A.12 to end of round. Finish with 1 slip stitch in the first chain stitch. Cut and fasten the strands. |
