---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagrams A.1 to A.9. Read the diagrams from right to left when working from the right side and from left to right when working from the wrong side. CHAIN STITCH: If you work at the back of the crochet hook the chain stitch will often be too tight. 1 chain stitch should be just as long as 1 double crochet is wide. 2 DOUBLE CROCHETS TOGETHER: Work as follows in every chain space: * Make 1 yarn over, insert hook around chain space, get the yarn, make 1 yarn over and pull yarn through the first 2 loops on hook *, repeat from *-* 1 more time, there are 3 loops on hook, make 1 yarn over and pull yarn through all 3 loops on hook (= 1 chain space has become 1 double crochet). SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there might be a small hole in the transition between body and sleeves. Close the holes by working 2 double crochets together in the transition between sleeve and body. I.e. when 1 stitch remain before sleeve stitches, work 1 double crochet in the last of the stitches under sleeve -wait with last yarn over and pull through, work 1 double crochet around the double crochet from the side of body and then pull through all loops on hook, work the same way in the other transition by working 1 double crochet around double crochet from side of body - wait with last yarn over and pull through, work 1 double crochet in first stitch under sleeve and then pull yarn through all loops on hook. DECREASE TIP: As the sleeve is worked back and forth decrease 1 double crochet after the first double crochet at the beginning of round and decrease 1 double crochet before the last stitch at the end of round. Work 2 double crochets into 1 double crochet as follows: *Make 1 yarn over, insert hook in next stitch, get yarn, make 1 yarn over and pull yarn through the 2 first loops on hook *, repeat from *-* 2 times in total (= 3 loops on hook), make 1 yarn over and pull yarn through all 3 loops on hook (= 1 stitch decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- SWEATER - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: Work yoke back and forth from mid front and work top down. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards back and forth while putting the sleeves aside. Then work the sleeves back and forth but at the end of row work rounds together to avoid a seam mid under sleeve and give the sleeve the same texture as the rest of jacket. Work bands and an edge around the neck. If 0 is given for the chosen size, it means that you skip the information until next information. YOKE: Read CROCHET INFORMATION and CHAIN STITCH in explanation above. Use DROPS Nord and DROPS Kid-Silk (2 strands) and hook size 4.5 MM = US 7. Work 80-84-88-88-92-100-104 chain stitches. Turn piece. Work first row from right side as follows: Work A.1, work A.2 over the next 10-11-11-11-12-14-15 chain stitches (= front piece), work A.3 in next chain stitch (= raglan), A.2 over 16-16-18-18-18-18-18 chain stitches (= sleeve), A.4 in next chain stitch (= raglan), A.2 over 22-24-24-24-26-30-32 chain stitches (= back piece), A.3 in next chain stitch (= raglan), A.2 over 16-16-18-18-18-18-18 chain stitches (= sleeve), A.4 in next chain stitch (= raglan), A.2 over 10-11-11-11-12-14-15 chain stitches and work A.5 in last chain stitch (= front piece). After first row there are 84-88-92-92-96-104-108 double crochets and 4 chain spaces on row. Insert a marker in the cast-on edge in the middle of back piece – now measure piece from here. Continue back and forth until A.3 and A.4 have been worked. There are 140-144-148-148-152-160-164 double crochet and 4 chain spaces on row, the stitches are distributed as follows between chain spaces: 32-32-34-34-34-34-34 double crochets for each sleeve, 19-20-20-20-21-23-24 double crochets for each front piece and 38-40-40-40-42-46-48 double crochets for back piece. Remember to follow the crochet gauge! Now work and increase as shown in A.6 over A.3 and A.7 over A.4, work like this 9-10-11-13-13-14-15 times in total vertically, and until 14-15-16-18-18-19-20 rows have been worked in total from beginning of piece. There are 248-264-280-304-308-328-344 double crochets and 4 chain spaces on row, the stitches are distributed as follows between chain spaces: 50-52-56-60-60-62-64 double crochets for each sleeve, 37-40-42-46-47-51-54 double crochets for each front piece and 74-80-84-92-94-102-108 double crochets for back piece. Now work 1 double crochet in every double crochet, at the same time work 2 DOUBLE CROCHETS TOGETHER over every chain space - read explanation above = 252-268-284-308-312-332-348 double crochets. Continue with 1 double crochet in every double crochet until yoke measures 18-19-20-21-22-24-25 cm = 7"-7½"-8"-8¼"-8¾"-9½"-9¾" from marker mid back. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: AT THE SAME TIME as next row is worked divide piece for body and sleeves as follows: Work 38-41-43-47-48-52-55 double crochets (= front piece), skip 50-52-56-60-60-62-64 double crochets (= sleeve), work 4-4-6-6-12-12-14 chain stitches (= in the side under sleeve), work 76-82-86-94-96-104-110 double crochets (= back piece), skip 50-52-56-60-60-62-64 double crochets (= sleeve), work 4-4-6-6-12-12-14 chain stitches (= in the side under sleeve), work 38-41-43-47-48-52-55 double crochets (= front piece). Now finish body while putting the sleeves aside. BODY: = 160-172-184-200-216-232-248 stitches. Work 1 double crochet in every double crochet and 1 double crochet in every chain stitch under sleeves = 160-172-184-200-216-232-248 double crochets. Work back and forth in double crochets until jacket measures approx. 49-51-52-54-56-58-60 cm = 19¼"-20"-20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝" from marker mid back. Jacket measures approx. 54-56-58-60-62-64-66 cm = 21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝"-24⅜"-25¼"-26" from shoulder and down. SLEEVES: Work sleeves alternately from right side and wrong side to get the same texture as the rest of piece. Adjust by beginning from wrong side if last row on yoke was from right side or beginning from right side if last row on yoke was from wrong side. Read SLEEVE TIP in explanation above. Begin by working in the middle of chain stitches under sleeve and work 1 double crochet in every chain stitch and 1 double crochet in every double crochet = 54-56-62-66-72-74-78 double crochets. Insert a marker thread at the beginning of round (= mid under sleeve). Turn piece. Work back and forth with 1 double crochet in every double crochet, finish round with 1 slip stitch in 3rd chain stitch at beginning of round before turning the piece. When sleeve measures approx. 3 cm = 1⅛", decrease 1 double crochet on each side of 2 stitches mid under sleeve (marker thread is between these stitches) - read DECREASE TIP. Decrease like this approx. every 4 cm = 1½" 2-2-2-1-1-1-1 times in total = 50-52-58-64-70-72-76 double crochets. Work until sleeve measures approx. 47-46-46-45-45-43-43 cm = 18½"-18"-18"-17¾"-17¾"-17"-17" from division – adjust so that last round is from right side. Work 1 round with double crochets from wrong side and increase 4 double crochets evenly = 54-56-62-68-74-76-80 double crochets. Work 1 round as follows: Work A.8, work A.9 the entire round. Cut and fasten the yarn. Sleeve measures approx. 48-47-47-47-46-44-44 cm = 19"-18½"-18½"-18½"-18"-17¼"-17¼" from division. RIGHT BAND: Use crochet hook size 4.5 MM = US 7. Work around outermost stitch along front piece. Begin from wrong side at the top of right front piece and work as follows: Fasten yarn with 1 slip stitch and work A.1, then work A.2 (work so that there are 2 double crochets around every row) and finish with A.2 and A.5 in last row = approx. 88-92-94-96-100-104-108 double crochets. Work 1 more row after A.1, A.2 and A.5 while AT THE SAME TIME decreasing 10 double crochets evenly - read DECREASE TIP = 78-82-84-86-90-94-98 double crochets. Fasten off. LEFT BAND: Use crochet hook size 4.5 MM = US 7. Work around outermost stitch along front piece. Begin from wrong side at the bottom of left front piece and work the same way as right band. NECK EDGE: Use crochet hook size 4.5 MM = US 7. Begin from right side on right band. Fasten yarn with 1 slip stitch and work A.1, work A.2 (work approx. 3-4 double crochets over stitches from band), then work A.2 between every double crochets from first round on yoke - AT THE SAME TIME work 2 double crochets together at every raglan line - read DECREASE TIP (= 4 double crochets decreased), work A.2 (work approx. 3-4 double crochets over stitches from band) and finish with A.5. Cut and fasten the yarn. EDGE AROUND THE JACKET: Use crochet hook size 4.5 MM = US 7. Begin from right side at the bottom on right band. Fasten yarn with 1 slip stitch and work A.8, work A.9 along the entire band - adjust to work 1 slip stitch at the edge by the neck, continue to work around the neck - adjust to work 1 slip stitch at the edge by the neck and continue to work down along left band and adjust to finish with 1 slip stitch at the bottom of band. Cut and fasten the yarn. ASSEMBLY: Sew the buttons on to left band, button between 2 double crochets on right band. Place first button approx. 1 to 2 cm = ⅜" to¾" from neck edge, place the last button approx. 8 cm = 3⅛" up from bottom edge of jacket. Distribute the remaining buttons evenly between first and last button. |
