---------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN: ---------------------------------------------------------- GARTER STITCH: Knit on all rows, i.e. knit from right side and knit from wrong side. 1 ridge vertically = knit 2 rows. PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Choose diagram for correct size. Diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from the right side. RAGLAN: All increases are done from right side. Increase 1 stitch by making 1 yarn over. On next row from wrong side work yarn overs as explained below: BEFORE RAGLAN STITCH (= twist yarn over towards the left): Purl yarn over in stitch loop behind the needle - to avoid holes. Work the new stitches in stockinette stitch. AFTER RAGLAN STITCH (= twist yarn over towards the right): Move yarn over from left needle to right needle purlwise, slip yarn over back on left needle by inserting left needle from behind in yarn over (yarn over is now twisted). Purl yarn over in stitch loop in front of the needle - to avoid holes. Work the new stitches in stockinette stitch. BAND WITH I-CORD: BEGINNING OF ROW: Work band as follows (= 6 stitches): Slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1 and work 4 stitches in garter stitch. END OF ROW: Work band as follows (= 6 stitches): Work until 6 stitches remain on row, work 4 stitches in garter stitch, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. Continue like this from both right side and wrong side. BUTTONHOLES: Decrease for buttonholes on right band (when garment is worn). Decrease from right side when 5 stitches remain on row as follows: ROW 1 (= right side): Make 1 yarn over, knit 2 together, knit 1, slip 1 stitch purlwise with strand in front of piece, knit 1. ROW 2 (= wrong side): Work band as before and knit yarn over to make a buttonhole. Decrease for first buttonhole on first row from right side after neckline has been worked. Then decrease the next 5-5-5-5-6-6-6 buttonholes, approx. 7-7½-8-8½-7-7½-7½ cm = 2¾"-2⅞"-3⅛"-3¼"-2¾"-2⅞"-2⅞" apart. Adjust so that bottom buttonhole is placed in the transition between stockinette stitch and rib on body. INCREASE TIP: When increasing stitches evenly in transition for rib, it is important to increase where stitches are going to be purled, the stitches in stockinette stitch will then continue nicely from stockinette stitch over into rib. SLEEVE TIP: When picking up stitches mid under sleeve, there will be a small hole in the transition between stitches on body and sleeves. The holes can be closed by picking up the strand between two stitches - work this strand twisted together with the first stitch between body and sleeve to close the hole. DECREASE TIP: Decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker thread, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker thread is between these 2 stitches), slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch worked (= 2 stitches decreased). ---------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ---------------------------------------------------------- JACKET - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: In this pattern needles of different length have been used, begin with fitting length for number of stitches and switch as needed. Worked top down. Cast on stitches for neck and work back and forth on circular needle with increases in raglan - AT THE SAME TIME cast on stitches in each side of row until correct number of stitches and the neck is done. Then work yoke back and forth on circular needle, top down. When yoke is done, divide piece for body and sleeves. Work body downwards back and forth on circular needle while putting the sleeves aside. Then work sleeves downwards in the round on needle. Finish by picking up stitches around the neck and work the neck edge back and forth. If 0 stitches are given for the chosen size, it means that you skip the information and jump to next information. NECKLINE: Cast on 82-84-86-90-92-100-102 stitches on circular needle size 4 MM = US 6 with DROPS Muskat or DROPS Belle. Insert 4 markers in the piece without working the stitches, insert markers in a stitch, these stitches are called raglan stitches and increase is done for raglan on each side of raglan stitches. Count 1 stitch (= left front piece), insert 1st marker in next stitch, count 23-23-23-25-25-29-29 stitches (= sleeve), insert 2nd marker in next stitch, count 30-32-34-34-36-36-38 stitches (= back piece), insert 3rd marker in next stitch, count 23-23-23-25-25-29-29 stitches (= sleeve piece), insert 4th marker in next stitch. 1 stitch remains on row for right front piece. INFORMATION BEFORE CONTINUING: Work back and forth - AT THE SAME TIME cast on new stitches for neck and increase for RAGLAN – read explanation above for increase method. When stitches are worked, work them in the following pattern: Work stockinette stitch on front pieces and back piece and work stockinette stitch and PATTERN - read explanation above, on sleeves, i.e. work A.1 over the middle stitches on sleeves between 1st and 2nd marker and between 3rd and 4th marker. Remember to follow the knitting gauge! WORK AND INCREASE AS FOLLOWS: ROW 1 (= wrong side): Purl, then cast on 2 new stitches at the end of row = 84-86-88-92-94-102-104 stitches. ROW 2 (= right side): Knit 3, increase for RAGLAN on each side of 1st marker, knit 4, A.1, knit 4 sleeve, increase for raglan on each side of 2nd marker, knit until 3rd marker (= back piece), increase for raglan on each side of 3rd marker, knit 4, A.1, knit 4 over sleeve, increase for raglan on each side of 4th marker, knit 1 (= 8 stitches increased), then cast on 2 new stitches for neck at the end of row = 94-96-98-102-104-112-114 stitches. ROW 3 (= wrong side): Purl (remember to work yarn overs as explained in RAGLAN), then cast on 2 new stitches for neck at the end of row 96-98-100-104-106-114-116 stitches. ROW 4 (= right side): Knit and continue A.1 over the middle 15-15-15-17-17-21-21 stitches on each sleeve – AT THE SAME TIME increase for raglan on each side of the 4 markers (= 8 stitches increased), then cast on 2 new stitches for neck at the end of row = 106-108-110-114-116-124-126 stitches. ROW 5 (= wrong side): Purl, then cast on 3 new stitches for neck at the end of row = 109-111-113-117-119-127-129 stitches. ROW 6 (= right side): Knit and A.1 as before, increase for raglan on each side of the 4 markers (= 8 stitches increased), then cast on 3 new stitches for neck at the end of row = 120-122-124-128-130-138-140 stitches. ROW 7 (= wrong side): Purl, then cast on 13-14-15-15-16-16-17 new stitches for neck at the end of row = 133-136-139-143-146-154-157 stitches. ROW 8 (= right side): Work the first 6 stitches as BAND WITH I-CORD - read explanation above, knit and A.1 as before and increase for raglan on each side of the 4 markers (= 8 stitches increased), then cast on 13-14-15-15-16-16-17 new stitches for neck at the end of row = 154-158-162-166-170-178-182 stitches. ROW 9 (= wrong side): Purl but work the outermost 6 stitches in each side as BAND WITH I-CORD – remember explanation above. AFTER 9TH ROW: Neckline is now done, and 4 increases for raglan have been done on each side of the 4 markers. Insert 1 marker inside the 6 outermost stitches mid front. Measure piece from this marker later. Then work yoke as explained below. The decrease for BUTTONHOLES - read explanation above, starts now. YOKE: Work stockinette stitch and A.1 over sleeves as before with 6 stitches band with I-cord in each side towards mid front – AT THE SAME TIME continue increases for raglan on every other row 0-7-4-9-14-16-13 more times (4-11-8-13-18-20-17 increases for raglan have been done in total) = 154-214-194-238-282-306-286 stitches. Continue increase for raglan on every other row on front pieces and back piece, but on sleeves increase only on every 4th row (= alternately 4 and 8 stitches increased), repeat this increase 22-16-22-20-16-16-22 times in total on front pieces and back piece and 11-8-11-10-8-8-11 times on sleeves. Increase has been done 26-27-30-33-34-36-39 times in total on front pieces/back piece and 15-19-19-23-26-28-28 times on sleeves (including increases worked at the same time as neckline). After last increase there are 286-310-326-358-378-402-418 stitches on row, and piece measures approx. 20-21-23-25-26-28-30 cm = 8"-8¼"-9"-9¾"-10¼"-11"-11¾" from marker mid front. Now divide yoke for body and sleeves. DIVIDING FOR BODY AND SLEEVES: When dividing piece for body and sleeves the raglan stitches will be placed somewhat in on front piece/back piece, i.e. AT THE SAME TIME as next row is worked divide yoke for body and sleeves as follows: Work 48-52-55-59-62-67-71 stitches band and stockinette stitch as before (= front piece), slip the next 53-57-59-67-71-73-73 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 12-12-14-14-18-20-24 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), work 84-92-98-106-112-122-130 stitches in stockinette stitch (= back piece), slip the next 53-57-59-67-71-73-73 stitches on a thread for sleeve, cast on 12-12-14-14-18-20-24 new stitches on row (= in the side mid under sleeve), and work the last 48-52-55-59-62-67-71 stitches in stockinette stitch and band as before (= front piece). Finish body and sleeves separately. BODY: = 204-220-236-252-272-296-320 stitches. Work stockinette stitch and bands as before until piece measures 36-38-40-42-43-44-46 cm = 14¼"-15"-15¾"-16½"-17"-17¼"-18" from marker mid front. On next row from right side begin rib while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 37-41-43-47-51-57-61 stitches evenly on 1st row - read INCREASE TIP (do not increase over bands) = 241-261-279-299-323-353-381 stitches, work as follows: Switch to circular needle size 2.5 MM = US 1.5, work band as before, work rib (= knit 1/purl 1 - remember increase) until 7 stitches remain, knit 1 and band as before. When rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2", bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl , or bind off with Italian bind-off. Jacket measures 40-42-44-46-48-49-51 cm = 15¾"-16½"-17¼"-18"-19"-19¼"-20" from marker mid front and approx. 48-50-52-54-56-58-60 cm = 19"-19¾"-20½"-21¼"-22"-22¾"-23⅝" from the top of shoulder. SLEEVES: Slip 53-57-59-67-71-73-73 sleeve stitches from one thread on to circular needle size 4 MM = US 6 and pick in addition up 1 stitch in each of the 12-12-14-14-18-20-24 stitches cast on under sleeve- read SLEEVE TIP = 65-69-73-81-89-93-97 stitches. Insert 1 marker in the middle of the 12-12-14-14-18-20-24 new stitches under sleeve - round begins at the marker thread. Work stockinette stitch and pattern in the round on needle - AT THE SAME TIME when sleeve measures 1 cm = ⅜" from division, decrease mid under sleeve – read DECREASE TIP and decrease as follows: Decrease 2 stitches 2-2-2-2-3-3-3 times on every other round, then decrease 2 stitches 2-4-4-6-7-7-7 times every 3-3-3-2-1½-1½-1½ cm = 1⅛"-1⅛"-1⅛"-¾"-½"-½"-½" = 57-57-61-65-69-73-77 stitches on needle. Work until sleeve measures 20-20-19-19-17-16-15 cm = 8"-8"-7½"-7½"-6¾"-6¼"-6" from division. Switch to double pointed needles size 2.5 MM = US 1.5 and work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) while AT THE SAME TIME increasing 9-9-11-11-11-13-13 stitches evenly on 1st round (make sure to increase an even number of stitches over A.1) = 66-66-72-76-80-86-90 stitches. When rib measures 4-4-4-4-5-5-5 cm = 1½"-1½"-1½"-1½"-2"-2"-2", bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl , or bind off with Italian bind-off. Sleeve measures approx. 24-24-23-23-22-21-20 cm = 9½"-9½"-9"-9"-8¾"-8¼"-8" from division. NECK EDGE: Use circular needle size 2.5 MM = US 1.5. Begin from right side mid front and pick up approx. 127-131-135-141-147-153-157 stitches around the neck (make sure to pick up 1 stitch in every band stitch to continue band nicely upwards the same way). Purl 1 row from wrong side with 6 stitches band in each side as before and adjust number of stitches if needed – number of stitches must be divisible by 2 + 1. Work next row as follows from right side: Work band as before, work rib (= knit 1/purl 1) until 7 stitches remain on needle, knit 1 and band as before. Work until piece measures approx. 3-3-3½-3½-4-4-4 cm = 1⅛"-1⅛"-1¼"-1¼"-1½"-1½"-1½". Bind off with knit over knit and purl over purl or bind off with Italian bind off. ASSEMBLY: Sew buttons on to left front piece. |
