Is this pattern suppose to have knitting terminology? If so could you tell what would be used if it was completely crochet? Thank you
27.03.2012 - 07:45DROPS Design answered:
The body of this garment are crochet, but the collar and cuffs are knitted in rib. Therefore there are no crochet instruction for the collar and cuffs.

Ch-loops: Crochet as follows – crochet row 1 in the bound-off edge. Row 1: 1 sl st in 1st st, * ch 18 (= approx. 14 cm), skip over 1 st, 1 sc in the next st *, repeat * - * around row and end with ch 18 and 1 sl st in the sl st at beginning of row = 24-26-28 ch-loops. Row 2: Sl st to center of 1st ch-loop, * ch 18, 1 sc in the next ch-loop *, repeat * - * and end with ch 18 and 1 sl st in center of 1st ch-loop at start of row (24-26-28 ch-loops on row). Repeat row 2 until there are 4-4-5 rows of ch-loops (or to desired length to armhole – try on the garment to determine length), cut yarn. Lay piece flat and count ch-loops – there will be 7-8-8 ch-loops for front and back and 5-5-6 ch-loops at each side for each sleeves – sew a stitch in each transition to hold pieces together. Sleeve: Crochet sleeve in the round over the 5-5-6 ch-loops at each side as follows: Row 1: start with 1 sc in the 1st ch-loop, * ch 18, 1 sc in the next ch-loop *, repeat * - * a total of 4-4-5 times and finish with ch 18 and 1 sl st in 1st sc at start of row = 5-5-6 ch-loops. Row 2: Sl st to center of 1st ch-loop, * ch 18, 1 sc in the next ch-loop *, repeat * - * and finish with ch 18 and 1 sl st in the 1st ch-loop at start of row (5-5-6 ch-loops on row). Repeat row 2 until there are 4-5-5 rows of ch-loops (= 8-9-10 rows from the collar) or to desired length – try on the garment to be sure of length. Cuff: Pick up/cast on sts for cuff on double-pointed needles as follows: Size S/M + L/XL: Pick up 1 st in the center of 1st ch-loop, * cast on 5 new sts, pick up 1 st in the center of the next ch-loop, cast on 6 new sts, pick up 1 st in the center of the next ch-loop *, repeat * - * a total of 2 times and then cast on 5 new sts. Size XXL: Pick up 1 st in the center of the 1st ch-loop, * cast on 5 new sts, pick up 1 st in the center of the next ch-loop *, repeat * - * a total of 5 times and then cast on 5 new sts. There are now 32-32-36 sts. Join and place a marker at the join. P 1 row and K 1 row, then knit rib. When cuff measures 18 cm from cast on edge, bind off all sts very loosely in rib. Repeat for the other sleeve. Body: = 14-16-16 ch-loops. Continue in the round as follows: Row 1: Start at one side with 1 sc in the top of the 1st ch-loop, * ch 18, 1 sc in the next ch-loop *, repeat * - * a total of 13-15-15 times and end with ch 18 and 1 sl st in 1st sc at start of row = 14-16-16 ch-loops. Row 2: Sl st to center of 1st ch-loop, * ch 18, 1 sc in the next ch-loop *, repeat * - * and finish with ch 18 and 1 sl st in the 1st ch-loop at the start of row (14-16-16 ch-loops on row). Repeat row 2 until there are 11-12-12 rows of ch-loops (= 15-16-17 rows from the collar) or to desired length – try the garment on to be sure of length. WRISTWARMER: Measurements: Length: approx. 25 cm [9⅞"] Circumference: approx. 23 cm [9"] The circumference will be smaller before blocking on account of the rib. Materials: DROP SDROPS ICE from Garnstudio 100 gr nr 11, apple green DROPS 6 mm [US 10] double-pointed needles, or size needed to obtain correct gauge.
