Liebe Frau Lexa, man soll 6 Maschen pro Abnahmenrund insgesamt in jeder 2. Runde 2 Mal abnehmen (= 6 Abnahmen x 2 = 12 Abnahmen), dann in jeder 4. Runde 7-8-9-10 (11) Mal = (6 Abnahmen x 7-8-9-10 (11) = 42-48-54-60 (66) Abnahmen). Viel Spaß beim stricken!

I have the same problem of Liz: decreasing as designed the hat has a very thin tail. I think that it should be drecrease not every round, probably every 4 (7 seems to much to me). I'll try.
21.12.2021 - 18:44DROPS Design answered:
Dear Barbara, you are right, pattern has been edited, you first decrease on every 2nd round then on every 4th round (not on every round), thanks for noticing. Happy knitting!

I'm wondering if there is a mistake in the pattern? Shaping the crown of the hat , decreasing at each marker every second round for two rounds, then every round until 12 stitches remain left me with a most peculiar shape, not at all like the pattern . I intend to knit six or seven rounds between decreases which I trust will give me a better shape.

------------------------------------------------------- EXPLANATIONS FOR THE PATTERN: ------------------------------------------------------- PATTERN: See diagram A.1. Choose diagram for your size. KNITTING TIP: To avoid the knitting gauge becoming tighter when working pattern it is important that the strands at the back are not tight. Use a size larger needle when working pattern if this is a problem. DECREASE TIP: Work until there are 2 stitches left before the marker, knit 2 together (= 1 stitch decreased). Decrease like this at all the markers. ------------------------------------------------------- START THE PIECE HERE: ------------------------------------------------------- HAT – SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE: The piece is worked in the round with circular needle/double pointed needles, bottom up. HAT: Cast on 72-80-84-88 (92) stitches with circular needle/double pointed needles size 3 MM = US 2.5 and medium grey DROPS Air. Purl 1 round, then work rib (knit 2, purl 2) for 4 cm = 1½". Change to circular needle / double pointed needles size 3.5 MM = US 4 and knit 1 round where you decrease 2-3-4-4 (2) stitches evenly spaced = 70-77-80-84 (90) stitches. Work stockinette stitch for 5 cm = 2". REMEMBER THE KNITTING GAUGE! Work A.1 – choose diagram for your size – read KNITTING TIP. When the diagram has been completed the piece measures approx. 17 cm = 6¾". Finish the hat with medium grey and stockinette stitch. When the piece measures 18 cm = 7", decrease 4-5-2-0 (0) stitches evenly on the next round = 66-72-78-84 (90) stitches. Insert 6 markers without working the stitches and with 11-12-13-14 (15) stitches between each marker. On the next round decrease 1 stitch by all 6 markers – read DECREASE TIP (= 6 stitches decreased). Decrease like this every 2nd round a total of 2 times, then every 4th round 7-8-9-10 (11) times = 12 stitches. Continue working until the piece measures 40-41-43-44 (44) cm = 15¾"-16⅛"-17"-17¼" (17¼"). Knit all stitches together 2 and 2 = 6 stitches. Cut the strand, pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten and fasten well. The hat measures approx. 36-37-39-40 (40) cm = 14¼"-14½"-15¼"-15¾" (15¾") with 4 cm = 1½" turn-up. POM POM: Make a pom pom of approx. 6 cm = 2⅜" in diameter using off-white. Sew the pom pom to the top of the hat. |
