,Bon tricot!

I made these but when felted the cables are not visible anymore. Any idea why this happened? Or how to prevent it? I did felt it with several other things so maybe too much friction?

Dear Amanda, felting can vary according on a lot of different things - read more there. Hope it can help. Happy knitting!

Hallo!

Bon tricot!

At the end of the heel instructions it says continue until 12-13-15-16 sts remain before M.1. In my case it would be 13. Does this mean when both sides of the heel are done, there should be a total 13 garter stitches on each side of M.1? If not, how many stitches on either side of M.1 should there be for size 38/39?
30.11.2014 - 04:58DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Fuller, that's correct, you should have 13 sts in énd size each side for M.1 when heel is done. Happy knitting!

PATTERN: See diagram M.1 (= 13 sts). GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. ANKLE: Beg from RS: * Work 6 sts, turn piece and work 6 sts (the small hole created will even out during felting), work 9 sts, turn piece and work 9 sts, work 12 sts, turn piece and work 12 sts, work 16 sts, turn piece and work 16 sts, work 12 sts, turn piece and work 12 sts, work 9 sts, turn piece and work 9 sts, work 6 sts, turn piece and work 6 sts *. Work 1 row on all sts and repeat Ankle from *-* on the other side (with start from WS). HEEL: Work row until 12-13-15-16 sts remain before M.1, turn piece and work return row, at the same time work 2 sts in the last st on row. Work to 11-12-14-15 sts before M.1, turn piece and work return row, at the same time work 2 sts in last st on row. Work to 10-11-13-14 sts before M.1, turn piece and work return row, at the same time work 2 sts in last st on row. Continue like this until 5-6-8-9 sts remain before M.1 - now discontinue inc in the last st on row, but continue turning until 2-3-4-5 sts remain before M.1. Now work mirrored, i.e. work 1 st less before each turn. When 5-6-8-9 sts remain before M.1, K tog the 2 outermost sts (i.e. mirror the inc from before) and continue until 12-13-15-16 sts remain before M.1. -------------------------------------------------------- SLIPPERS: Worked back and forth on needle in GARTER ST – see above. Beg at the top of leg and finish by the toe. Cast on 49-51-55-57 sts on needle size 6 mm / US 10 with Nepal. Work first row from RS as follows: K2 tog, 16-17-19-20 garter sts, M.1 (= 13 sts), 16-17-19-20 garter sts, K2 tog = 47-49-53-55 sts. Continue in M.1 with 17-18-20-21 garter sts each side. After 1 vertical repeat of M.1 work ANKLE from RS - see above! After ankle is complete work another vertical repeat of M.1. REMEMBER THE GAUGE! Now work HEEL from RS - see above! After heel on the right side of piece work 1 row pattern on all sts, then work HEEL on left side of piece, (beg from WS). After HEEL is completed on both sides insert a marker in the outermost st – now measure piece from here. Continue in M.1 with garter sts each side, AT THE SAME TIME dec for foot by K2 tog each side of M.1 on every row from RS a total of 3-3-4-4 times = 41-43-45-47 sts. Continue on these sts until foot measures 9.5-12-13-15 cm / 3¾"-4¾"-5⅛"-6", measured from marker. On next row from RS work the 13 sts on M.1 as follows: K2 tog, K2 tog, K2 tog, P1, K2 tog, K2 tog, K2 tog = 35-37-39-41 sts on needle. Now complete piece in garter sts on all sts. Dec for toes as follows: Dec 4 sts evenly on row by K2 tog 4 times = 31-33-35-37 sts. K 9-9-11-11 rows on all sts. On next row from RS dec 6 sts evenly = 25-27-29-31 sts. K 5-5-7-7 rows. On next row from RS dec 4 sts evenly = 21-23-25-27 sts. K 3 rows for all sizes. Work next row as follows: K1, K2 tog on remaining sts = 11-12-13-14 sts on needle. Cut the thread, pull it through remaining sts and tighten toe tog. ASSEMBLY: Sew tog mid under foot, from toe and up to cast on row, edge to edge in outer loops of sts to avoid a chunky seam. FELTING: Place the slippers in the washing machine with a detergent free of enzymes and optical bleach. Wash them at warm at 40C/104F with normal spin but no pre-wash. After wash shape the slippers to the right size while still wet and leave to dry flat. At subsequent washed wash the slippers at a wool program. AFTER FELTING: If the piece is not felted enough and is too big: Wash the piece one more time in the washing machine while it is still wet add a terry towel that measures approx. 50 x 70 cm = 19¾" x 27½" - NOTE: Do not use a short program. If the piece has been felted too much and is too small: While the piece is still wet stretch it to the correct measurements, if the piece is dry, make sure to soak it first. Remember: All subsequent washes are as a normal wool garment. |
