Hallo, After knitting the final 6 rows I still have 9 rows to go until the full repeat of M1 is done. What should I do?

Dear Mrs Perisic, was your tension correct? in such kind of pattern the number of rows might be very important to keep the pattern working. You can check if you can rather work less row to finish before the last M.1 or then work more rows to finish the last M.1 - your DROPS store will provide you any individual assistance - even per mail or telephone. Happy knitting!

One more question, what is seen as K2tog on the right side, do I knit it as K2tog when I am knitting a wrong side row? The same question regarding what is seen as "slip1 st as if to K, K1, psso", what do I do when I come to that when knitting a wrong side row?
03.03.2021 - 04:44DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Perisic, there won't be any decrease worked from wrong side in the diagram. This might help you to understand how to read diagrams. Happy knitting!

Hi, I'm having trouble understanding the diagram. The very first row I knit after the cast on is a wrong side row, correct? So in that ws row I first knit the 96 K, than 2K, than 9sts of the M.1 as follows: 4P, 2K, 1P, 2K. Is this correct? Then I turn my work and knit the right side row as follows: 4K, 5P, 2P, and 96 K. Is this correct? If not, could you please write just these 2 rows in such a way for me?
03.03.2021 - 03:23DROPS Design answered:
Dear Mrs Perisic, on the very first row after cast on work (3rd size) as follows: K96, P2, M.1 (= K4, P2, K1, P2). Then on 2nd row (= WS), work: M.1 (= P4, K5), K2, P96. And continue like this working 3rd row from RS with M.1 = K4, P1, K1, YO, K1, YO, K2. - but remember short rows for toe. Hope this will help. Happy knitting!

Hello, could you please explain to me how to knit from wrong side? K from ws? Do you mean knit ON ws?

Dear Moira, when you see the cross, these stitches in diagram are worked in reversed stocking stitches, in they will be purled when working the right side rows and knitted when working the wrong side rows. Hope this wille help. Happy knitting!

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle): K all rows. PATTERN: See diagram M.1. Diagram shows the pattern from RS. NOTE! Because of the pattern no of sts will vary. KNITTING TIP: When turning mid piece, slip first st as if to K, tighten thread and work return row. Do this to avoid a hole in transition. ASSEMBLY TIP: The toes need tightening securely, therefore insert a thread in the outer loop of the outermost st towards the toe and let this thread follow the piece. Use this to tighten tog the toe. -------------------------------------------------------- SOCK: REMEMBER THE GAUGE! Worked back and forth from mid under foot, over upper foot and back to mid under foot. Work the last 8 sts on needle in M.1 and remaining sts in garter st – SEE ABOVE - and P sts. The first 10-13-16 sts on needle = the toe – SEE KNITTING TIP! TOE: On every other row towards the toes turn piece when 10-13-16 sts remain and work return row. Cast on 93-99-107 sts on needle size 2.5 mm / US 1 with Alpaca. Continue as follows - from RS: 82-88-96 garter sts, P2, M.1 (= 9 sts). Work 6 rows like this (remember shortened rows towards toes) – SEE ASSEMBLY TIP! Now continue in pattern, AT THE SAME TIME dec for heel as follows: Insert a marker in st no 58-62-70 (from the toe). Dec 1 st each side of st with marker on every other row a total of 11 times = 71-77-85 sts. Continue in garter st and M.1 until piece measures 10-10-13 cm / 4"-4"-5⅛" from the last dec – measured in the middle of sock. Now inc for heel as follows: Insert a marker in st no 47-51-59 (from the toe). Inc 1 st each side of st with marker on every other row a total of 11 times = 93-99-107 sts. Work 6 rows on all sts as before, finish after a full repeat of M.1. Slip all sts on a stitch holder. Knit the other sock. ASSEMBLY: Graft tog sts from stitch holder and sts from cast on row. Sew seam under foot and up along the back of leg. Tighten toes tog and fasten thread. |
