Mvh DROPS Design

Dear Drops Design, I am now knitting Wood Spirit's design features using the dimensions (and tension requirements) of Winter in the Appenines. That seems to work!

Is the tension correct - I can't get 13 st x 22 rows even though I have tried several different needles. 16 x 22 is as near as I can get. Please help!
10.06.2019 - 12:17DROPS Design answered:
Dear Isobel, you have to work here with both yarns, ie with a yarn group A (= Cotton Viscose) + a yarn group C (= Alaska) together (= 2 strands of yarn held together as juste one) which should give you a tension of 13 sts x 22 rows sotcking stitch . Happy knitting!

Cast on 122-134-150 sts on circular needle size 5 MM = US 8 with 1 thread of each quality and work 2 rounds garter st, K 3 rounds and P 1 round. Change to needle size 6 MM = US 10 and continue in stockinette st. Insert a marker each side = 61-67-75 sts on front and back piece. When piece measures 4 cm = 1½" inc 1 st on each side of both markers on every 7 cm = 2¾" 3 times = 134-146-162 sts. Remember the knitting gauge! When piece measures 22-24-26 cm = 8¾"-9½"-10¼" continue in pattern – see above. When piece measures 31-33-35 cm = 12¼"-13"-13¾" (adjust to after 3 K rounds) work next round as follows: slip 5-6-5 sts on a stitch holder for armhole, work 62-67-76 sts on front piece, slip 5-6-5 sts on a stitch holder for armhole, work 62-67-76 sts on back piece. Put piece aside and knit the sleeves. Sleeve: Cast on 36 sts on double pointed needles size 5 MM = US 8 with 4 threads Cotton Viscose and work 2 rounds garter st. Now continue in stockinette st, at the same time inc 2 sts mid under arm on every 4-3.5-3 cm = 1½"-1¼"-1⅛" a total of 9-10-11 times = 54-56-58 sts. When piece measures 37 cm = 14½" continue in pattern. When piece measures 46 cm = 18" (adjust to after 3 K rounds) slip 5-6-4 sts mid under arm on a stitch holder = 49-50-54 sts. Put piece aside and knit the other sleeve Yoke: Now slip sleeves on the same circular needle as body pieces where sts were put on stitch holders for armhole = 222-234-260 sts. Continue in pattern, at the same time dec 1 st on first round for size S = 221-234-260 sts. Dec for raglan (see below) on 2nd round (= the middle of the 3 K rounds) and dec on this round 3 times (i.e. on every 4th round) and then on every 8th round 4 times. Dec as follows: first dec: * K11, K2 tog *, repeat from *-* = 204-216-240 sts. Second dec: * K10, K2 tog *, repeat from *-* = 187-198-220 sts. Continue dec like this with 1 less st between each dec. After the last dec there are 102-108-120 sts on round. Continue in pattern on collar, but on second round adjust no of sts to 66-70-74. Bind off when collar measures approx 14 cm = 5½", adjust to after 1 P row. Assembly: Sew openings under arm. |
