EXPLANATION FOR THE PATTERN:
-------------------------------------------------------
PATTERN:
See diagram A.1. Work the entire pattern in stockinette stitch.
KNITTING TIP-1:
To avoid the garment losing elasticity when working pattern, it is important not to tighten the strands on back side of piece. Switch to a higher needle number when working pattern if the pattern is somewhat tight.
KNITTING TIP-2 (applies to heel):
To get a stronger heel the entire heel and heel decrease can be worked in 2 strands as follows: Use strand inside and outside of ball and work 1 stitch alternately with one and the other strand. This way you get a thicker heel without working with double strand.
DECREASE/INCREASE TIP (evenly):
To calculate how to decrease/increase evenly, use the total number of stitches on row (e.g. 72 stitches) and divide stitches by number of decreased/increases to be done (e.g. 6) = 12.
In this example decrease by knitting every 11th and 12th stitch together.
When increasing make in this example 1 yarn over after every 12th stitch. On next round knit yarn overs twisted to avoid holes.
HEEL DECREASE:
ROW 1 (= right side): Knit until 7-8-8 stitches remain, slip next stitch as if to knit, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch knitted, turn piece.
ROW 2 (= wrong side): Purl until 7-8-8 stitches remain, slip next stitch as if to purl, purl 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch purled, turn piece.
ROW 3 (= right side): Knit until 6-7-7 stitches remain, slip next stitch as if to knit, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch knitted, turn piece.
ROW 4 (= wrong side): Purl until 6-7-7 stitches remain, slip next stitch as if to purl, purl 1, pass slipped stitch over stitch purled, turn piece.
Continue decrease like this with 1 stitch less before each decrease until there are 14-14-16 stitches on needle.

START THE PIECE HERE:
-------------------------------------------------------
SOCKS - SHORT OVERVIEW OF THE PIECE:
Worked in the round on double pointed needles, top down.
SOCK:
Cast on 72-80-80 stitches on double pointed needles size 2.5 mm = US 1,5 with light grey. Knit 1 round. Then work rib in the round (= knit 1/purl 1) for 4 cm = 1 1/2”.
Knit 1 round while at the same time decreasing 6-4-4 stitches evenly– read DECREASE/INCREASE TIP = 66-76-76 stitches.
Then work A.1 in the round (the repetition will not fit number of stitches until decrease at arrow-1). AT THE SAME TIME decrease/increase on every round marked with arrow in A.1 as explained below – remember DECREASE/INCREASE TIP!
Arrow-1: Decrease 6-4-4 stitches evenly = 60-72-72 stitches (there is now room for 5-6-6 repetitions of 12 stitches).
Arrow-2: Decrease 4-8-0 stitches evenly = 56-64-72 stitches (there is now room for 7-8-9 repetitions of 8 stitches).
Arrow-3: Increase 4 stitches in size 35/37 = 5/6 1/2, and decrease 4 stitches in size 38/40 = 7 1/2/9 (do not increase/decrease any stitches in size 41/43 = 9 1/2/10 1/2) = 60-60-72 stitches.
Work pattern (there is now room for 5-5-6 repetitions of 12 stitches).
Arrow-4: Decrease 6-2-10 stitches evenly = 54-58-62 stitches.
Work the rest of the sock in light grey. Work in stockinette stitch until piece measures 17-18-19 cm = 6 3/4”-7”-7 1/2” from cast-on edge (or desired length of leg).
Now work heel piece as explained below.
Keep the first 13-14-15 stitches on needle for heel, slip the next 28-30-32 stitches on 1 stitch holder without working the stitches (= mid on top of foot) and keep the last 13-14-15 stitches on needle for heel = 26-28-30 heel stitches on needle.
Read KNITTING TIP-2, and work in stockinette stitch back and forth over heel stitches with light grey for 5-5½-6 cm = 2”-2 1/8”-3 2/8”. Insert a marker in the middle of last row, marker should be used later to measure the length of foot.
Work in HEEL DECREASE - read explanation above. After heel decrease work next round as follows: Knit over the 14-14-16 heel stitches, pick up 13-14-16 stitches along side of heel, knit the 28-30-32 stitches from stitch holder on top of foot and pick up 13-14-16 stitches along the other side of heel = 68-72-80 stitches.
Work until mid under heel, now begin round here.
Insert 1 marker on each side of the 28-30-32 stitches mid on top of foot.
Work in stockinette stitch in the round - AT THE SAME TIME decrease on each side of the 28-30-32 stitches on top of foot as follows: Knit the last 2 stitches before the 28-30-32 stitches on top of foot together and knit the first 2 stitches after the 28-30-32 stitches on top twisted of foot together (= 2 stitches decreased). Decrease like this every other round 8-8-10 times in total = 52-56-60 stitches.
Then continue until piece measures approx. 18-19-21 cm = 7”-7 1/2”-8 1/4” from marker on heel (approx. 4-5-6 cm = 1 1/2”-2”-2 3/8” remain until finished measurements, try the sock on and work to desired length).
Remove the old markers and insert 1 marker in each side so that there are 26-28-30 stitches on top of foot and 26-28-30 stitches under foot. Work in stockinette stitch in the round and decrease for toes on each side of both markers as follows: Work until 3 stitches remain before marker, knit 2 together, knit 2 (marker is in the middle of these 2 stitches), knit 2 twisted together. Repeat decrease at the other marker (= 4 stitches decreased on round).
Decrease like this on each side of both markers every other round a total of 5-8-10 times, and then on every round a total of 5-2-1 time = 12-16-16 stitches remain.
On next round knit all stitches together 2 by 2 = 6-8-8 stitches remain. Cut the yarn and pull it through the remaining stitches, tighten together and fasten. Sock measures approx. 22-24-27 cm = 8 3/4”-9 3/4”-10 5/8” from marker on heel. Work the other sock the same way.

Vanskelig å legge opp færre masker ift rapporter i mønster.
