INFORMATION FOR PATTERN:

PATTERN:
See diagram A.1.

INCREASE TIP:
Work until 1 stitch remains before marker, 1 yarn over, knit 2 (marker is in the middle of these stitches), make 1 yarn over (= 2 stitches increased), repeat at both markers.
On next round knit yarn over twisted to avoid holes.

DECREASE TIP:
Begin 2 stitches before marker thread and work as follows: Knit 2 together, slip 1 stitch knitwise, knit 1, pass slipped stitch over.
----------------------------------------------------------

PANTS:
Worked in the round from the waist down.
Cast on 142-150-160 (166-172) stitches on circular needle size 2 mm with light beige - round begins = mid back. Work rib for 4 cm / 1½'' (= knit 1/purl 1). Insert 1 marker thread (this edge is folded down later), NOW MEASURE PIECE FROM HERE! When rib measures 4 cm / 1½'' (i.e. 8 cm / 3 1/8'' in total), switch to circular needle size 2.5 mm / US 1.5. Knit 1 round and decrease 16-18-22 (22-22) stitches evenly = 126-132-138 (144-150) stitches. Now work an elevation mid back on pants to get a better fit.

ELEVATION AT THE BACK:
Work in stockinette stitch back and forth as follows: Work 10-11-11 (12-12) stitches, turn piece (to avoid hole slip 1st stitch and tighten yarn on every turn). Work 20-22-22 (24-24) stitches and turn piece. Work 30-33-33 (36-36) stitches and turn piece. Work 40-44-44 (48-48) stitches and turn piece.
Continue like this by working 10-11-11 (12-12) stitches more on every turn 8 more times (= 12 short rows). Then continue piece in the round in stockinette stitch. REMEMBER THE GAUGE!
When piece measures 13-16-17 (18-19) cm from marker thread (measured mid front), insert 1 marker at beginning of round and 1 marker after 63-66-69 (72-75) stitches (marks front and back on pants). Then increase 1 stitch on each side of these markers (= 4 stitches increased) – read INCREASE TIP, every 3rd round 6 times in total = 150-156-162 (168-174) stitches. After last increase piece measures approx. 18-21-22 (23-24) cm/7"-8 1/4"-8 3/4" (9"-9½") from marker thread (measures mid front).

LEG:
Work 75-78-81 (84-87) stitches – begin working mid back and slip the remaining stitches on 1 stitch holder. Work in the round on double pointed needles - insert 1 marker thread on the inside of leg = round begins here.
Then decrease 1 stitch on each side of marker thread – read DECREASE TIP, 14-13-12 (11-10) times in total.
SIZE 1/3 MONTHS: Alternately on every 2nd and 3rd round.
SIZE 6/9 MONTHS: Alternately on every 3rd and 4th round.
SIZE 12/18 MONTHS: Alternately on every 4th and 5th round.
SIZE 2 YEARS: Alternately on every 6th and 7th round.
SIZE 3/4 years: Alternately on every 9th and 10th round.
After all decreases are done, 47-52-57 (62-67) stitches remain on needle.
When piece measures approx. 32-38-42 (48-55) cm/12½"-15"-16½" (19"-21½") from marker thread, work A.1 over all stitches (the last 13 rows of A.1 is folded up later). Bind off when A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically. Pants measures 44-50-54 (60-67) cm/17 1/4"-19 3/4"-21 1/4" (23½"-26½") in total (including 4 cm / 1½'' folding edge in waist and 4 cm / 1½'' folding edge at the bottom on leg). Work the other leg the same way.

ASSEMBLY:
Fold edge at the bottom on leg up and sew it nicely to the inside of leg with light beige from wrong side. Do the same on the other leg. Fold edge at the top of waist down, sew nicely to inside of leg with light beige. Leave a little opening to thread the elastic through and sew opening shut.
