DROPS design: Pattern no la-020
Yarn group A
-----------------------------------------------------------
Measurements: Width at the top: approx. 140 cm / 55'' when blocked Length mid back: approx. 76 cm / 30'' when blocked
Materials:
DROPS LACE from Garnstudio
100 g color no 7120, light gray green
Or use:
DROPS BABYALPACA SILK from Garnstudio
200 g colour no 4088, heather

DROPS CIRCULAR NEEDLE (80 cm / 32'') SIZE 3.5 mm/ US 4 – NOTE: Read about the knitting gauge below.

KNITTING GAUGE:
This garment is to be soaked and blocked/stretched to size afterwards so the knitting gauge is not that important. But to get a sense of whether you are working too loose/tight, work a test on needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 in stockinette st and get approx. 23 sts x 30 rows = 4'' x 4'' (10 x 10 cm).

Not sure which size you should choose? Then it might help you to know that the model in the picture is approx. 5 ft 7 in and uses size S or M. If you are making a sweater, cardigan, dress or similar garment, you will find a graphic with the measurements of the finished garment (in cm) at the bottom of the pattern.

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle):
K all rows. 1 ridge = K2 rows.

PATTERN:
See diagrams A.1 - A.13. The diagrams show all rows in pattern seen from RS.

KNITTING TIP:
If you want a bigger shawl, repeat A.4-A.6 vertically.

SHAPING:
When using another yarn from yarn group A, there is no need to stretch to measurements, but place it gently out in shape. Leave to dry. Repeat the process when the garment has been washed.
----------------------------------------------------------

SHAWL:
Worked back and forth on circular needle, from the neck down. Cast on 9 sts on circular needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 with Lace or BabyAlpaca Silk. Work diagram A.1 (Note: 1st row is from WS). When A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically, there are 21 sts on needle.
Then work as follows from RS: 3 sts in GARTER ST – see explanation above, A.2, 1 st in stockinette st (= mid st), A.2, finish with 3 sts in garter st. When A.2 has been worked 1 time vertically, there are 49 sts on needle.

Now work next row from RS as follows: 3 sts in garter st, A.3, 1 st in stockinette st (= mid st), A.3, finish with 3 sts in garter st. When A.3 has been worked 1 time vertically, there are 65 sts on needle.

Now work next row from RS as follows: 3 sts in garter st, A.4, A.5 2 times, A.6, 1 st in stockinette st (= mid st), A.4, A.5 2 times, A.6, finish with 3 sts in garter st. When A.4-A.6 have been worked 1 time vertically, there are 97 sts on needle.
After A.4-A.5 there is room for 2 new repetitions of A.5 on each side of shawl.

Work until 6 whole repetitions have been worked of A.4-A.6 vertically. I.e. there are now 12 times A.5 on each side of mid st = 257 sts.

Now work next row from RS as follows: 3 sts in garter st, A.7, repeat A.8 until 4 sts remain before mid st (= 7 times), A.9, 1 st in stockinette st (= mid st), A.10, repeat A.11 until 12 sts remain (= 7 times), A.12, finish with 3 sts in garter st. When A.7-A.12 have been worked 1 time vertically, there are 353 sts on needle.

Now work next row from RS as follows: Work A.13 until mid st (= 22 times), 1 st in stockinette st (= mid st), work A.13 the rest of row (= 22 times). When A.13 has been worked, there are 617 sts on needle. LOOSELY bind off with P from WS.

BLOCKING:
Place the shawl in lukewarm water until it is soaking wet. Carefully squeeze the water out of the shawl - do not twist the shawl - then roll the shawl in a towel and squeeze to remove more water - the shawl will now only be moist. When using BabyAlpaca Silk – READ SHAPING!
Place the shawl on a carpet or mattress - carefully stretch it out to size and fasten it with pins, pull the middle of lace repetitions in A.13 out to form tips. Leave to dry. Repeat the process when the garment has been washed.

DROPS Design 11.07.2019 kl. 12:05:

Hei Judithe. Du strikker A.7-A.12 1 gang i høyden, men alle 6 diagrammene strikkes samtidig. Du strikker A.7-A.9 på den ene siden av midtmasken, og A.10-A.12 på den andre siden av midtmaksen. Når A.7-A.12 er strikket 1 gang i høyden strikkes A.13 over alle maskene. God fornøyelse

Madelene 23.06.2019 - 11:30:

Christina Grabow 21.05.2019 - 15:13:

DROPS Design 21.05.2019 kl. 15:34:

Liebe Frau Grabow, nur A.11 wird hier wiederholt, A.10 wird nur einmal gestrickt, dh so wird es gestrickt: A.10 x 1 in der Breite, dann wierdeholen Sie A.11 bis 12 Maschen bleiben , und A.12 x 1 in der Höhe. Viel Spaß beim stricken!

Christina Grabow 21.05.2019 - 11:45:

Lg

DROPS Design 21.05.2019 kl. 13:24:

Liebe Frau Grabow, die 257 M stricken Sie wie folgt: 3 M kraus rechts, A.7, A.8 x 7, A.9, 1 M glatt re, A.10, A.11 x 7, A.12, 3 M kraus rechts - also nach dem letzten Umschlag in A.9 stricken Sie 1 M glatt rechts (= die mittlere Masche), dann stricken Sie A.10 (= erste Masche = 1 Umschlag), es sind keine 2 Umschläge nebeneinander. Viel Spaß beim stricken!

Valido Carmela 16.05.2019 - 17:59:

Buon lavoro!

Susanne Lauersen 16.05.2019 - 01:01:

DROPS Design 16.05.2019 kl. 07:49:

Hei Susanne. Når du har strikket A.4-A.6 1 gang i høyden gjentar du diagrammene. Men du har nå plass til 4 rapporter av A.5 mellom A.4 og A.6 på hver side av midten (fordi du har flere masker). Så da strikker du slik: 3 rett, A.4, A.5, A.5, A.5, A.5, A.6, 1 maske osv.

Reihe dieselbe beidseitig die mittlere Masche: A.7 (= 26 M), A.8 (= 16 M), A.9 (22 M) = 64 M - A.10 (=20 M), A.11 (= 17 M), A.12 (= 27 M) = 64 M. Viel Spaß beim stricken!

Cinzia 27.03.2019 - 15:54:

Is it possible to have this scheme in vertical and complete with rhombus at the bottom? Thank you Kind regards Cinzia

DROPS Design 27.03.2019 kl. 17:31:

Dear Cinzia, you can find the diagrams related to this shawl on the bottom of the page. Following the given instructions you can realize this shawl. For any further assistance, please contact your DROPS store, and there you'll find the help you need. Happy knitting!

Bente 18.03.2019 - 09:42:

DROPS Design 19.03.2019 kl. 14:37:

Hei Bente. Jo, de 2 sjalene på bildene er like. Og de er begge strikket etter oppskriften. God fornøyelse

Hanne 12.03.2019 - 15:48:

Har fundet en løsning. I forstod måske ikke mit spørgsmål ;-)
