DROPS design: Pattern no la-016
Yarn group A
Width: approx. 45 cm / 17¾” when blocked
Length: approx. 170 cm / 66” when blocked
Materials: DROPS LACE from Garnstudio
100 g color no 2020, light camel

DROPS CIRCULAR NEEDLE (60 or 80 cm / 24” or 32”) SIZE 3.5 mm / US 4 – NOTE! Read about the knitting gauge below.

This garment is to be soaked and blocked/stretched to size afterwards so the knitting gauge is not that important. But to get a sense of whether you are working too loose/tight, work a test on needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 in stockinette st and get approx. 23 sts x 30 rows = 10 x 10 cm / 4’’ x 4’’.

Not sure which size you should choose? Then it might help you to know that the model in the picture is approx. 5 ft 7 in and uses size S or M. If you are making a sweater, cardigan, dress or similar garment, you will find a graphic with the measurements of the finished garment (in cm) at the bottom of the pattern.

GARTER ST (back and forth on needle):
K all rows. 1 ridge = 2 rows K.

See diagrams A.1 and A.2. Diagrams show the pattern from RS.

Row 1 (RS): Work 7 sts in 1 st as follows: * K 1, 1 YO *, repeat from *-* a total of 3 times and finish with K 1 = 7 sts. It is important to work the sts loosely (approx. 1 cm / 3/8’’ long).
Row 2 (WS): P these 7 sts tog. It will be difficult to work the sts from 1st row tog if they are too short and too tight.

Worked back and forth on circular needle. Cast on 105 sts on circular needle size 3.5 mm / US 4 with Lace and K 1 row from WS. Work next row as follows from RS: 3 sts in GARTER ST – see explanation above, A.1AA (= 13 sts), A.1BB over the next 80 sts, A.1CC (= 6 sts), finish with 3 sts in garter st.
When AA, BB and CC have been worked, there are 81 sts on needle. Work next row as follows: 3 sts in GARTER ST – see explanation above, A.1A (= 9 sts), A.1B over the next 60 sts, A.1C (= 6 sts), finish with 3 sts in garter st.
Continue like this until A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically (last row = from RS), then K 4 rows and P 1 row from WS.
Then work as follows from RS: 3 sts in garter st, A.2A (= 5 sts), A.2B over the next 64 sts, A.2C (= 6 sts), finish with 3 sts in garter st.
Continue like this until piece measures approx. 75 cm / 29½, make sure that one complete repetition of A.2 has been worked vertically.
Now K 4 rows over all sts.
Put all sts on a stitch holder. Knit another part the same way.

Graft/sew the 2 parts tog stitch by stitch.

Place the shawl in lukewarm water until it is soaking wet. Carefully squeeze the water out of the shawl - do not twist the shawl - then roll the shawl in a towel and squeeze to remove more water - the shawl will now only be moist.
Place the shawl on a carpet or mattress - carefully stretch it out to size and fasten it with pins. Leave to dry. Repeat the process when the garment has been washed.

Adagio by DROPS Design hallo , würde gerne mal wissen was der schrägstrich nach links bzw.rechts über zwei maschen zubedeuten hat bei A.1 . wäre sehr nett wenn ich da eine erklärung zu bekäme . mfg sylvi

DROPS Design 11.12.2018 kl. 15:22:

Symbol - 4. = 2 M re zusammen, 5. = 1 M re abheben, 1 M re stricken, die abgehobene Masche überziehen. Viel Spaß beim stricken!

Saskia 05.03.2018 - 10:40:

DROPS Design 05.03.2018 kl. 19:35:

Bon tricot!

Nora 17.06.2015 - 20:21:

After "A.1 has been worked 1 time vertically (last row = from WS), then K 5 rows and P 1 row from WS" mean? I thought that I ended on a RS after A.1 is worked. I'm having trouble understanding what "(last row = from WS)" means. I understand I K 5 rows and then P 1 row, but if I do that, won't I end up starting the A.2 section on a WS? Please help!

DROPS Design 19.06.2015 kl. 09:14:

Dear Nora, after A.1 work last row from WS, then K 5 row (1st from RS, last from RS), then P 1 row from WS and start A.2. Happy knitting!

Ági 18.04.2015 - 22:02:

A bogyó kötésénél a visszája sorban össze kell kötni a 7 szemet?

DROPS Design 06.11.2016 kl. 14:31:

Kedves Ági! Igen a bogyó kötésénél mind a 7 szemet egyszerre kötjük össze, fordítottan.

Theresa 26.03.2015 - 23:33:

After A1 is completed, does "K5 rows" mean knit all in garter stitch, or knit on RS and purl on WS?

DROPS Design 30.03.2015 kl. 14:14:

Dear Theresa, after A.1 you work a total of 5 K rows = 5 rows in garter st (= Knit all rows), then P 1 row from WS. Happy knitting!
